    Few questions we need to ask regarding the data security in our organization
    Is the IT generated data a valuable asset of your organization? Is your organization taking enough precautions that this data is not being siphoned off by illegal means? Is the design department of your organization working on the new product development which may be invaluable asset for you as well as your competitors? Are you carrying confidential, IP protected data of your customers? Is your organization generating important documents like financial accounting, business plans, RFP, Tender quotes etc.? Are you sure that none of the personnel in the organization are carrying miniature Pen drives, USB hard drives that can accommodate voluminous data without being noticed. Do you have a complete control on the computer users as far as the mailing attachments are considered? Are you sure none of them are using their personal web mail accounts to mail the valuable data as attachment , to the outside world? Is there a control on the data being siphoned off from the organization in the form of printouts? Is there a total control on the installation and usage of pirated software by the users? Are you sure that there are no pilferages of costly computer parts like memory ( RAM) from the PCS installed in the far flung corners of the plant/office. Are you sure there are no disgruntled elements in the organization that can use any of the above means? Do you think prevention is better than cure??
