PROJECT PROPOSAL
II. RATIONALE:
Mathematics is one of the most important subjects taught in school for it sharpens the
individual minds, shapes the reasoning ability and develop one’s ability. However, it is also one of the
most challenging subjects to explicate because most of the learners find it intricate. It becomes much
more difficult for the learners to solve even simple mathematical equations if they only have meager
fundamental skills in Math, even more if they will be solving mathematical word problems. These
Fundamental Skills in Math which is commonly known as the 4Fs, are addition, subtraction,
multiplication and division.
Despite the Pandemic we are dealing with, this should not impede us to always think of
ways and means on how to find solution on this perennial problem in Math. For this very reason, the
school has come up with the project which is called Project DEALS in Math with which the word
DEALS stands for Daily Exercises And Learning Skills that will help learners improve their Basic Skills
in Math. In order to achieve this goal, we seek assistance from Holy Angel University ( HAU ) that will
serve as our partner in providing online tutorial to academically challenged learners in Math only for
Kinder to Grade 3. For the other grade levels, the advisers will be the one to prepare interventions like
giving daily exercises in Math by means of supplying window cards and worksheets, video call for
direct supervision, conducting online tutorial focusing on the 4 Basic Skills in Math, and sending link
that will enhance their mathematical skills. These interventions will also be given to kinder – Grade 3
learners by their advisers alongside the online tutorial to be given by HAU.
However, because of limited resources particularly the internet connection or budget for
data and the like, we will just hold the online tutorial once a week. This will be done after the
outcome of the Numeracy Pre-Test. Teachers will be able to determine the non-numerates and the
nearly numerates hence Project DEALS will be implemented.

the most common reason is their lack of fundamental mathematical skill. Students tend
