INTRODUCTION
Some IS and GS series vehicles may exhibit an intermittent no crank condition. An updated
negative cable bolt is available to address this condition. Follow the procedure in this bulletin to
replace the negative cable bolt.

• This repair is covered under the Lexus Comprehensive Warranty. This warranty is in
effect for 48 months or 50,000 miles, whichever occurs first, from the vehicle's in-
service date.

REPAIR PROCEDURE
A. Measure the battery voltage between the negative (-) and positive (+)
terminals of the battery.
C. Temporarily run a redundant jumper cable with equivalent gauge from the
negative battery terminal to a suitable ground on the vehicle.
D. If the vehicle cranks normally and the engine starts, proceed with this TSIB.
E. If condition does NOT change, STOP! This TSIB does NOT apply.
A. Refer to the appropriate Repair Manual to REMOVE the Power Steering ECU
to gain access to the bolt.

B. Remove the battery tray that is beneath the Power Steering ECU.
D. Run a M6 x 1.0 tap several times to remove paint on the threads of the weld
nut.
E. Clean all dirt and debris around the ground point thoroughly.
G. Refer to the appropriate Repair Manual to install the Power Steering ECU.
