explanation on installation procedure. It also gives you detailed information for
configuration and explains proper usage of the product.

Chapter 1.

Description

Overview

XCAP is post-processing software that analyzes logging data for IS-95A/B, CDMA2000,
EV-DO, WCDMA collected from diagnostics monitoring devices. It offers full featured
tools to optimize network maintained and troubleshot.

XCAP presents the data in various GUI types; Graph, Map, Table, Message, CDF, and PDF.
By simply dragging and dropping parameters, one or multiple parameters are shown in
one parameter window. It displays data using customized filtering tools as well as
generates various reports automatically.

Various analysis forms

XCAP offers various analysis types such as Graph, Map, Message, Table, CDF,
and PDF.

Powerful mouse menu

XCAP utilizes a powerful pop-up menu for effective analysis on every parameter
window. Simply right-click on every parameter window.

Data export

Analyzed data in XCAP can be exported to Excel, PowerPoint, CSV, Txt, and etc.
Saving formats may vary depending on analysis types.

Favorite organization

For Create Template function: You may organize parameter windows in different
analysis types, and reload from Message tab.

For Create Favorite function: You may organize parameter windows in a same
analysis type, and reload from the selected analysis type tab.

Multi window synchronization

XCAP allows you to analyze multiple parameter windows simultaneously by


using Range to Sync function.

Chapter 2.

Installation

Software

Following procedure enables you to install XCAP on the computer appropriately. All
applications should be closed on your PC before beginning installation.

1. Insert the supplied CD-ROM into your CD-ROM drive.

The CD-ROM shall automatically run, and an installation window appears.

If the installation window does not appear, find the setup.exe from the supplied CD-
ROM/XCAP Setup.

2. Installation wizard is started, read carefully and follow installation instructions


properly.

3. Press Finish.

Key lock driver

Key lock driver is a security program for XCAP, it enables you to operate XCAP analyzer.

1. Execute autorun.exe (or autorun.bat) from CD-ROM/Driver/Key Lock Driver.

2. Installation wizard is started, read carefully and follow installation instructions


properly.

Graphic User
Interface

This chapter introduces how to use basic graphic user interface of XCAP.

Main window of XCAP is composed of four sectors; Menu bar, Tool bar, Work bar, and
Workspace.
Classification Description

Menu bar Include File, View, Tools, Message, Report, Window, and
Help.
Tool bar Enable you to use major functions with icons.
Icons vary depending on analysis type; Graph bar, Map bar,
Message bar, Table bar, CDF/PDF bar.
Work bar Show model name and parameter trees for each analysis type.
Workspace Allow you to analyze parameters in the space.

Menu bar

Menu bar includes six pull-down menus; File, View, Tools, Analysis, Window, and Help.

Following eight functions are available with File menu.

Map Bar
Map bar is activated when map analysis window is opened.
Show/hide Graph bar.
Graph Bar
Graph bar is activated when graph analysis window is opened.
Show/hide Viewer bar.
Viewer Bar Viewer bar is activated when message analysis window is
opened.
Workspace Bar Show/hide Workspace bar.

Tools
Tools menu allows you to manage Map, Site, Call, and other options.

Classification Description

Import map files.


Map Manager
Map manager menu is activated according to map engine.
Site Manager Add, delete, and edit Site and Repeater.
Coverage info: Analyzes data quality (Good, Bad, No Service,

etc.) based on RSSI, Ec/lo parameter, and shows on map

Workspace

Workspace is a helper that allows you to manage workspace quickly and easily. It enables
you to move another model and manage workspace.

Workspace bar is viewable by clicking Toggle workspacebar icon in main tool bar.

NOTE: Current job settings in a workspace such as window size, position, and etc. is
automatically saved when you move to another workspace tab. It also applies when you
create a new workspace.

When you import another model’s workspace, current workspace is automatically saved
and a new workspace is opened importing data.

It is impossible to import workspaces for a deleted model.

This chapter explains basic operation of the program.

New model creation

This program analyzes logging data files from DM.

For this, logging data file should be imported from DM; it is called a new model creation.

Logging Files Window

1. Select New from File menu or click on new icon in main tool bar.

2. Select logging file(s), and drag-drop on Selected Files section.

3. Set and select necessary options and click OK.

See the detailed description for each option below.

4. Click Open to create a new model.


The detailed description of each icon in Logging files window is as follows.
Classification Description

Look in Show directory names of logging files.


Show selected logging file.
Selected files may be deleted by clicking icon.
Selected Files Click New tab to create Batch tabs. The created Batch
tabs allow you to create more than one merged model at once.
(Max 10 Batch tabs can be created.)
Merge: Create one model merging with other selected files.
Parameters of each logging files are merged file by file, not in
Merge/Separate
time order.
Separate: Create a separate model by model.
Merge files which have same port information, and create a new
with the same port model. The new file is named with _port# in the end.
If there are no matched files, XCAP doesn’t create a new model.

Set workspace and report export options for each batch. Select
batch# tab and set export options for workspace, report, and
favorite.
Workspace: Click Setting button to set workspace options.

to be imported by using Import Favorite button in Favorite

Sys. Version Select appropriate version for each item.


3GPP Version: Use only for WCDMA logging files.
Select system revision of logging file.
It will affect on WCDMA signaling message parsing.
Mobile Version: Use only for WCDMA logging files.
Select mobile version, it enables you to parse data in accordance
with specification.
MAC Version: Select IEEE 802.16 spec for MAC Signaling
message parser. (For WiBro/WiMAX)

LTE Version: Set version of LTE RRC Signaling and NAS


Signaling.
Auto Select: Recognize RRC/NAS version field for logging file
automatically, and decode signaling message.
Manual: Mapping RRC Signaling and NAS Signaling spec
version by year and month.
Set call process options.
Time units are second, minus and mille second may not be
entered.

User Defined Call

Idle Time (sec): Time for mobile initialization and


synchronization setting (Do not apply for the initial call.)
Setup Time (sec): Time for opening traffic after call attempt at
mobile
T_Setup Time (sec): Time for FTP logging (Activated only when
Included PPP Frame is checked.)
Traffic Time (sec): Traffic time
Dormant Mode: Reconnect air (This option is usable when PPP is
connected.)
Set time offset.
Compensation for GPS Time: Minus 13 seconds if logging file is
Time Offset
created before 2006, and minus 14 seconds if logging file is
created after 2006.
Check this option, and you may set Rx Power offset values after
Rx Power Offset clicking Open button to create a new model.

Set pilot offset for Sector scanner data from 0 to 511.
Pilot Inc If pilot increment is set to 2, only 0, 2, 4, …, 510 are displayed.
Default pilot increment is 2.
M to M Summary Create M to M, M to L, L to M, TTA statistics window.
Activated only when Merge option is selected. Enter a model
name.
Model Name
If no name is assigned, XCAP automatically names using one of
logging files name.

The following is the descriptions of the each part of the Wi-Fi Setting window.

1. Decryption Keys: Save the decryption type and key to access an AP. By using
that information, 802.11 packets are decoded when you tested without a
decryption key.
- New: Add a new decryption key.
- Edit: Edit the information of a registered decryption key.
- Delete: Delete the information of a registered decryption key.
- Up/Down: Arrange the information of registered decryption keys.
2. Search MAC Address: Referring to a MAC Address, shows only the packets of
the corresponding MAC Address on the Packet Message Viewer.
3. Select Parameter: Activate selected parameters on the main tree.

Rx Power Offset function enables you to set offset values for Rx Power you want

to analyze, this function is usable for WCDMA only.

Check Rx Power Offset Use option in Logging files… window, and the
following setting window appears.

Set all offset values and click OK to apply.

If you click on Cancel button, offset values are not applied and create a new

Parameter selection

XCAP provides you with seven analysis types; Graph, Map, Table, Message, CDF, PDF,
Event, and Statistics. These analysis types may be selected by clicking tabs in Work bar.

Default analysis type is Table.

Select an analysis type and choose parameters under parameter tree in Work bar.

Double-click parameters or drag them into the workspace to open parameter window.

NOTE: If you select an analysis type, available parameters turn to black color, and
unavailable parameters turn to gray color. Double-click black colored parameters
and they are opened in workspace.

Display Manager

Display Manager shows parameter windows opened in the workspace. It allows you to
select to open and delete parameter windows.

2. Select on checkboxes for each parameter to show/hide parameters.

NOTE: Basically Display Manager is placed under Work bar, and you may place it on
the top of Work bar by clicking icon. icon turns Display Manager
window back under the Work bar.

Classification Description

Move the selected parameter in the Display Manager list.

Remove the selected parameter.

Show/Hide legend of the selected parameter.

Map Manager

XCAP supports MapX, MIF (mif), and Smart Map (tab, mif) engine.

If you use MapX or MIF map engine, you first have to convert them into available format.
It enables you to display, panning, and zoom maps during Map analysis.

MapX engine
If you are using MapX engine, MapX map files have to be converted into Geo map
format. Then load Geo map file to map analysis window.

Converting Geo file

Before converting MapX map files into Geo format, make sure if you
installed MapInfo MapX 4.85, and MapX license file and hardware key are
prepared.

1. Open Geoset Manager from Start - MapInfo MapX 4.0.

2. Open window appears over Geoset Manager window.

3. Click Cancel.

4. Click Layer Control icon in main window.

5. Click Add button and select a map data file, then click Open.

6. Make sure the selected map data file is listed in Layer section in Layer
Control window, and click OK.

Displaying Geo file

1. Open a map analysis window.

2. Right-click on a map analysis window, and go to Configure - Map


Layer Control.

3. MapX property window appears, click on pull-down button for GeoSet


from General tab.

4. The converted GeoSet file appears, select the file.

5. Click OK button, the selected area map shall be displayed properly.

NOTE: If the measured data and map data do not match, restart the Map
Layer Control and select an appropriate geographic system from “Projection
method.”

NOTE: If you use Couei GPS, select Latitude/Longitude.

MIF engine
If you are using MIF engine, MIF map files have to be converted into Geo map
format. Then load Geo map file to map analysis window.

Converting Geo file

1. Open Map Manager window from Menu - Tools.

2. Drag MIF files into Selected Files section.

3. From Map Name, set save path for Geo file by clicking icon.

1. Open a map analysis window.

2. Right click on a map analysis window, and go to Configure - Base Map.

3. Select the converted Geo file.

Site Manager allows you to add, delete, and modify Site and Repeater.

- Go to main menu Tools - Site Manager.

when map analysis window is displayed in the workspace.

Export to KML

To display Site and Repeater information on the Google Earth map, this function exports
that information as KML format file. (Google Earth 4.3 or later should be installed in
advance.)

1. Click Tools> Site Manager> Export to kml button.

2. Select format, path and then click OK button.

3. Run Google Earth and import the exported kml file.

Note. With this function, the all site information of all technologies will be exported. So if
you want to export sites on the map of the current window only, use Map pop-up menu>
export function.

Sync function

XCAP enables you to see data for a specific time period in different parameter windows
simultaneously.

1. Open various parameter windows for different analysis types in workspace.

2. Select a certain area and right-click on any parameter window to see mouse menu.

3. Select Sync to Range.

4. Data in a same time period are highlighted.

Create Report

XCAP allows you to create report in pdf, excel, doc, html, and etc. The created reports
help easy analysis of models.

1. Go to main Menu bar – Tools – Report – Create Report.

Report List Comparison type: Create comparison type report. XCAP-LTE creates

comparison report among models.

To create Parameter Comparison report, Report Setting –

Param.Comparison is required.

As Parameter Comparison report supports max two models,

reference and target model should be set. Click Select List

button, click Select Model button for Parameter

Show cell coverage for each Site in accordance with wireless

Conditional Coverage environment condition setting.

represents first letter of the filtered data file.

Coverage info

Coverage info function allows you to see parameter qualities such as Good, Bad, and No
Service classified based on RSSI, Ec/Io, and etc.

If you want to delete a coverage name, click on icon.

5. Select Good, Bad, or No Service in Condition List.

6. Drag-drop a parameter from Parameter tree to coverage section, or select a

7. Set Operator, Value, and Linker by double-clicking the relevant sections.

You have to set coverage settings for Good, Bad, and No Service respectively.

8. Click OK to save coverage settings.

9. The new coverage names are created under Coverage info for Map analysis tab.

You may rename or delete the new coverage parameters by right-clicking on the
parameter tree.

10. Double-click the coverage parameter or drag-drop into the workspace to see the
data.

NOTE: Coverage info is a function for Map analysis, and it is available only when the
model includes GPS information.

Work Space
This function is similar to the Create Favorite and Create Template. If you open several
windows in the analyzer program and save them, you can load the saved windows
whenever you want.

WorkSpace Bar

When you add parameters from other models to current Workspace, it will be saved
regardless of the models and it will show you the saved windows and parameters.

But, if you delete a model included in a Workspace, the deleted model will not be shown
when you open saved Workspace.

Display the group names of files in File List to show in the

and it is editable.

Time Stamp Format: Display format of time stamp for each
file. You have to select Time Stamp Format to display data
after selecting file and column. There are eight formats in Time
Stamp Format.

Lat/Lon Format: Select longitude/latitude for file. There are
four formats in Lat/Long Format.

Data delimiter: Data delimiter distinguishes the Array data

Column names should comply with the column names in the
imported file. Match the column names by double-clicking the
first row. Default is Single.
Column #: Display the tree item of files displayed in Import
Data Tree.
Time Stamp: Set the column as Time Stamp. If there is no
time stamp menu in file, the file is not imported.
Latitude: Set the column as Latitude.
Longitude: Set the column as Longitude.
Lon Lat: Select when the Longitude and Latitude data is in
one column. The division of Lon Lat data uses GPS delimiter of
Common Setting.
Lat Lon: Select when the Latitude and Longitude data is in
one column. The division of Lon Lat data uses GPS delimiter of
Column Setting
Common Setting.
Single: Set the column as data.
Array: Set when there are several data divided by comma or
group of numbers. The imported format is to be A[1], A[2],
A[3]…A[n].
Ignore: Select when you do not want to show the column.
When you select this menu, the column is not displayed after
import.
Day: Select when the column has date information. The
format is YYYY-MM-DD (ex. 2008-05-09). This menu gets first
priority when Time Stamp menu has data information.
NOTE: When there is no date information both in Time Stamp
and Day menu, you are required to enter date information
after clicking OK button to start import.
Help configuring time stamp and GPS info.
Auto Wizard
Select drop-down buttons for time stamp and GPS data.
Import existing configuration setting file in CSV format.
Load CSV format
Click drop-down button and select a CSV file.
Save currently configured setting in CSV format.

Import Tektronix
This is used to import a file converted as a TXT form in Tektronix equipment that
collects 3GPP mobile DM data. This Tektonix file is imported automatically without
the above ‘Procedure of import Data’. After importing, several major parameters
in the file are added in the parameter tree, and the parameters can be analyzed
on Table, Map, and Graph.

Import Ethereal
This is used to import a file formatted as Ethereal. This Ethereal file is imported
automatically without the above ‘Procedure of import Data’. After importing,
several major parameters in the file are added in the parameter tree, and the
parameters can be analyzed on Table, Map, and Graph.

Legend setting
Legend is set for Map, PIE/BAR graph analysis of imported data file.

XCAP analyzer automatically determines min/max values and sets legend in 10


intervals. If data are in alphabet, legend is listed in alphabetical order.

Longitude/Latitude setting
Longitude and latitude information is set for Map analysis of imported data file.
XCAP analyzer requires GPS information for Map analysis.

If there is no GPS data in the imported file, you may import information of
another model by using Get GPS Info menu.

size of User Event. Horizontal offset and Vertical offset
User Event allow you to set display position of User Event in a map
analysis window.
User Event Marker: Set options for the arrow displaying User
Event.

Show Coordinates Box: Select the checkbox to show and
hide the scale box in the Map analysis window.
Show Info. Tool tip: Display data information including
Longitude, Latitude, Time, and etc when you double-click on a
data in a Map analysis window.

Miscellaneous

When you click Setting button, you can see the following
window. It shows selected Info. Tool tip.
Default values: Selected parameters are shown on Parameter
List and Tool tip information of Map.
Take the nearest data, when absent: If there is no selected

Inbuilding tab allows you to set fundamental options of inbuilding function for

This chapter explains how to analyze parameters in graph.

Open parameter graph

To analyze parameters as graph, select Graph Tab in Work Bar.


When you select Graph Tab, Parameter tree available for graph analysis is displayed. If a
parameter is in black or activated, it is available for graph analysis. If a parameter is in
grey or inactivated, it is not available for graph analysis.

Open single parameter graph


You can open one parameter in one graph window.
Please look at the following procedure to open single parameter graph.

1. Select a parameter in Graph Parameter Tree.


2. Drag and drop it onto Work Space or double-click it.

Single Parameter Graph


X axis is a time, Y axis is value of the parameter.
The color, margin, grid on X/Y axis show, etc can be modified in Graph Tab of
Options.

Open multiple parameter graph


You can open multiple parameters in one graph window.
The following procedure explains how to open multiple parameter graphs.

1. Open single parameter window. (See Open Single Parameter)


Drag another parameter and drop it onto the single parameter window already
open.
The new graph is added below the first parameter Graph. You can add graphs as
many as you wish.

Multiple Parameter Graph


When you drag a group of parameters and drop it onto work space, the all
parameters of the group are displayed in one graph window.
Look at the following procedure to delete a graph from multiple parameter graphs.

1. Right click on a graph in a multiple parameter graph to bring out mouse


menu.
2. Select Remove Graph Menu to delete it.

Open Overlay parameter graph


You can have a few of parameters overlaid in one graph window.
Here is the procedure to how to open overlay graph.

<With Alt Key>

1. Follow the procedure of opening single parameter graph.


2. Drag a new parameter and drop it onto the single parameter graph while
pressing Alt key.
3. The new parameter is overlaid on top of the old parameter like the following
graph.

Overlay Graph Window

Maximum number of parameters that can be overlaid is 10 in one graph window.


You can not remove a parameter from overlay graph. The color of new parameter
overlaid is chosen automatically for example black, red, green, yellow, etc.

<With Ctrl Key>

1. Change the color and style of Line and Symbol in the Graph Setting window.

2. Double click or drag in a parameter on the Parameter Tree to the Work Space
with pressing the Ctrl Key to open new window.

3. Drag in a parameter on the Parameter Tree to the opened Graph window with
pressing the Ctrl Key.

The difference between the two ways is that ‘with Ctrl Key’ method shows
parameters in the graph as you set.

You can select graphs to show, hide and delete on the Display Manager.

Graph mouse menu

You can change the properties of Graph or use the various functions for Parameter Graph
Window using Graph Mouse Menu.

Graph Mouse Menu

This Mouse Menu is applied to a Parameter Graph that the mouse cursor is on.

The function of Mouse Menu varies depending on each Menu in Overlay Graph window.

Concerning this, it is explained on corresponding Menu part.

Panning
You can move a graph back and forth.
The following procedure explains how to do panning a graph.

1. Right click on a graph to bring out mouse menu and select Panning menu or
press icon of Graph Bar.
Drag the graph or press arrow buttons of Keyboard to move it.

Once you have used Zoom In, Zoom out and Zoom window you need to release
them by clicking one more time on the icons of Graph Bar. Those are toggle
buttons.

CDF/PDF
CDF/PDF graph displays CDF (Cumulative Distribution Function) or PDF (Probability
Density Function) Graph of the parameter.
Please see the following procedure.

1. Select the CDF/PDF in Graph Mouse Menu or press or icon of Graph


Bar.
2. Please look at the following examples of CDF/PDF.

ARG
ARG(Accumulated Rod Graph) displays a Bar Graph for the data of each Model
when the various model is merged with Concurrent option. The user can compare
the each model’s data easily in one Graph window.

Please see the following procedure.

1. Open various model.


2. Push button and select button after selecting the various
Models.

3. In Model Merge window, enter save folder and Model name for combined
Model.

4. Select Concurrent model option and push the OK button.

5. Open a graph window of Concurrent Model

6. Select ARG of Graph mouse menu.

7. When you select ARG, the Bar Graph of each model is displayed as follows.

8. If you want to display the various parameters onto one window, drag the
other parameter onto the graph window already opened.

There are 4 mouse menus in ARG window. You can use these mouse menus by
pushing the right button of mouse on the ARG window. The following table
describes the detail information of ARG mouse.
Classification Description

Range Set the Min, Max and Interval of Bar Graph.


The set range is only applied to the current selected ARG
window.
Export

Export all graphs of ARG window to BMP, JPG, GIF and Excel
File.
Print Print the ARG window.
Remove Graph Remove a graph from the ARG window.

The Bar Graph name in ARG window is same as Model name. Therefore when the
user creates the Concurrent model using New Model Creation Window, the Bar
Graph names of ARG window are displayed as same because the various Log files
are created as one model without creating each model. This function is available
only for the models created with concurrent option.

PIE/Bar
You can bring a Pie/Bar chart out of a line graph.
Please look at the following procedure to open pie or bar chart.

1. Select PIE/BAR Menu of Graph Mouse Menu or press , icon of Graph


Bar.

You can export a pie or bar chart to graphic file and report and print it using mouse
menu.

Copy to Clipboard
You can copy the current window using Copy to Clipboard menu.

To use Copy to Clipboard menu, select the Copy to Clipboard menu on Graph Bar
or Graph Mouse Menu and click the desired window.

Export
You can export a graph into a graphic file such as JPG, BMP, GIF, excel or power
point file.
The following table describes the detail information of export function.

Remove Graph
You can remove a graph from Multiple Parameter Graph Window.
The following procedure explains how to remove a graph.

1. Right click on a Multiple Parameter Graph Window to bring out mouse menu.
2. Press Remove Graph menu.
This function is available only for a multiple parameter graph window.

Range To Sync
This program allows you to synchronize automatically the specific range on multiple
parameter windows by simple mouse clicking.
Please follow the procedure below to synchronize it.

1. Open the various Parameter Windows into Work Space such as Graph, Map,
Table, etc.
2. Highlight the specific range in a Parameter Window by dragging a mouse on it.
3. Right click on it to bring out mouse menu, select Range To Sync Menu.
4. Or, double-click or press Enter key on your keyboard on a specific data in
table analysis window, and the selected range is synchronized on graph and
message windows.
5. The following example show that the selected range was synchronized on
multiple parameter windows.
NOTE: Press up arrow on your keyboard to delete previous data. Press down
arrow on your keyboard to select next data.

Range to Time
Range to time allows you to designate the time range of X axis.

Type the time range and click OK, then the range of the graph will be changed.

Create Template
Create Template option allows you to save customized multiple analysis windows
in different analysis types as a template, and easily resume your job by re-
opening them in next time.

NOTE: Create Template option is applied for multiple analysis windows in


different analysis types.

1. Open parameter windows in the workspace, and change any options you want.

2. Right-click on an analysis window, and select Create Template. Target


template name window appears.

3. Enter a template name in the entry field. Click OK.

4. A new template is created successfully.

5. The created template is added in Template window, and can be edited, re-
named, and removed from main Menu bar – Tools – Template. For detail,
Graphic User Interface – Menu bar - Tools.

6. To add more parameter windows in the existing template, right-click on any


analysis window and select Create Template.

7. Select an existing template name by clicking combo box in Target template


name window. Click OK.

NOTE: Step 1 through 6 can be repeated as many times as you want.

8. To open the created template, go to main Menu bar – Tools – Template, and
double-click a template name.

Create Favorite
You can save a customized parameter window into as a favorite and open it later
easily. The new favorite is added into Favorite Info group of parameter tree.
Please look at the following procedure to save a favorite.

1. Open a parameter window and customize it as you wish.


2. Right click on it to bring out mouse menu and select Create Favorite menu.
3. The new favorite is added into Favorite Info group of parameter tree like
following

4. To open a favorite, drag and drop it onto work space or double-click on it.
5. Favorite information is saved into the current model. When the current model
is changed the favorite info is also changed according to the model.
6. To rename or delete a favorite, right click on it to bring out mouse menu.

You can find Favorite Info group in all analysis types, except Message Tab.

Create Sector Graph


This functionality is used when users want to see bigger Sector values than a
specific Sector value for the Sector Scanner data log file.
The following procedure describes how to use Create Sector Graph function.

1. Create a model with log file of Sector Scanner data.


2. Open a parameter from Sector Scanner Tree using Map Analysis.
3. Select an area with Rectangle Mode or Polygon Mode on a map showing
Sector scanner data.
4. After selecting a certain area, select Create Sector Graph of Map Mouse Menu
or press button on the Map Bar. You will see a window like below.

5. Press OK button after entering Ec/Io Threshold value on the Ec/Io Threshold
for Sector Graph Window.
6. You will see graphs something like below, Sectors satisfying your input.

7. Right click on the Sector Graph Window to bring out mouse menu. All
functionalities in the mouse menu are included in the Graph Mouse Menu
except Sector Graph Property.

8. If you unselect Auto Range in the Sector Graph Mouse Menu, Sector Graph will
have -30 ~ 0 dB of value on the Y- axis. The range of Y-axis on the Sector
Graph Window could not set and -30 ~ 0 dB of default value is provided.

The following window will appear when Sector Graph Property is selected in the
Sector Graph Mouse Menu.

There are options like selecting color of Sector Graph or Sector number and
selecting width of each graph on the Sector Graph Property Window.
Create Sector Graph is only available when Sector Scanner Data is presented and a
certain area of Sector Scanner Data is selected.

Create Model
This program allows you to save the selected range of data into a new model. You
can also exclude the selected range of data and save the rest of data into a new
model.
Please see the following table for the detail information.

Classification Description

Selected Range Create new Model that includes the selected range of data.
Out of Selected Create new Model that excludes the selected range of data.
Range
The following procedure explains how to create a new model.

1. Highlight the specific range you want on a graph (table or map) by dragging
on it.

Right click on a graph to bring out mouse menu. Select Create Model and choose
one of Range to Model or Out of Selected Range.
When the new model is created it is automatically loaded into the program.
When you create a new model this program also generates a new log file into the
model folder. The new model name is given automatically by XCAP. The new model
name is in the format of ”<original model name>_RM####”. ”####” is a number
that increases every time you create a new model. You can create a new model as
many as you want.

Show Legend
You can show or hide legend on a graph parameter window.
Please look at the following procedure.

1. Right click on a graph to pop up mouse menu and select Show Legend.

A legend box will appear in the right side of the graph like following example.

Show Legend is a toggle menu. If you want to remove the legend select the menu
again. The legend will be removed.

Show Log File Name


Show Log File Name function helps to know a certain data is included in which log
file. This function is available for merged model.

1. Right-click on a graph analysis window, and select Show Log File Name.

2. Point with mouse on any data graph.

3. Logging file name for the graph data is shown in a square box.

Show Average
You can display a line of average value across a graph parameter window. The
average is calculated within the current span of the graph. If you zoom in a new
average is calculated.
Please look at the following procedure to display a average line.

1. Right click on a graph to bring out mouse menu. Select Show Average menu.
2. A line of average value will appear like following example.

Show Average Example


Show Average is a toggle menu. If you want to remove the average line select
the menu again. The average line will be removed.

Show Min-Max
You can display minimum and maximum values of a graph parameter window. The
min/max is calculated within the current span of the graph. If you zoom in new
min/max are calculated.
Please look at the following procedure.

1. Right click on a graph to bring out mouse menu. Select Show Min-Max menu.
The min/max values will be shown on the graph.
Show Min-Max is a toggle menu. If you want to remove the min/max select the
again. The min/max will be removed.

Call Event
Call Event function displays call event items (FTP, HTTP, Ping, etc) on graph
analysis window.

1. Right-click on a graph analysis window, and select Call Event.

2. Call events are displayed over graph analysis window.

3. Right-click on a graph analysis window, and select Call Event Filter.

4. Call Event Filter window appears.

5. Select call events you want to show on graph analysis window, and configure
colors by double-clicking each Color cell.

Reset: Initialize color setting for all call events.

6. Click OK.

NOTE: On a multiple graph window, Call Event is shown for the selected graph.

Auto Range
This program allows you to arrange automatically Y axis into a proper span taking
min/max values into account.
Please look at the following procedure.

1. Right click on a graph to bring out mouse menu and select Auto Range.
Y axis will be arranged into a proper span automatically.
Auto Range is a toggle menu. If you want to release Auto Range select the menu
again. Auto Range will be released.

Setting
You can set the properties of Graph using Setting. There are two tabs in Setting
Window, one is Graph the other is Pie/Bar Legend. The Graph Tab of Setting
window sets the Graph display properties and Pie/Bar Legend of setting window
sets the Legend of Pie/Bar chart.

Graph

In Graph Tab, you can set the Graph display properties. The way to set the
Graph display property is as below.

1. Right click on a graph to bring out mouse menu and select Setting or
press icon of Graph Bar.

Save changed setting values as a *.grp file.
Load a saved legend file.

Pie/Bar Legend

You can modify the properties of Pie/Bar chart legend.

1. Right click on a graph to bring out mouse menu and select Setting or
press icon of Graph Bar.
2. Select Pie/Bar Legend Tab in Graph Setting window.

The legend can be saved, deleted and loaded using the icon group at the
top of the window. The following table describes the detail information of

Delete the current legend.

If the set legend does not include all data, the lost data do not count for the
percentage (%). Therefore the user wants to change the legend, the
minimum and maximum values of the parameter have to be assigned as Min
and Max.

This chapter explains how to analyze parameters in map.

Open parameter

You may open a parameter or multiple parameters in the workspace.

Before you open parameters, make sure you selected Map tab in the Work bar.

Available parameters are turned black and activated. Grey parameters are unavailable to
analyze in map and are not activated.

Open single parameter


You may open a parameter in map.
To open a single parameter in map,

1. Select a parameter in the parameter tree.


2. Drag and drop it onto workspace or double-click it.

NOTE: You may change symbol type, data color, size, and etc. by clicking Map
Setting button or from Map mouse menu – Configure – Legend.

Open multiple parameters


You may open more than one parameter in one map analysis window.
To open several parameters in one map analysis window,

1. Select a parameter in the parameter tree.


2. Drag and drop it onto workspace or double-click it.
3. Select another parameter in the parameter tree.
4. Drag and drop it onto the map analysis window which is already opened in the
workspace.

NOTE: Unlike opening multiple parameters in Graph analysis window, you do not
need to press Alt button while dragging the selected parameter.

NOTE: You may drag mother tree parameter onto the map analysis window to
open its children trees at once.

5. The new parameter data is displayed beside the existing data in one map
analysis window.

NOTE: You may adjust data offset between parameters in map window from main
Menu bar – Tools – Options – Map Property – Display Offset.
To remove a parameter among the displayed parameters,

1. Right click on a map analysis window, and go to Configure – Delete


parameter #n.
NOTE: You may not remove the firstly opened parameter.

Map Mouse Menu

Map mouse menu helps to change map properties and map analysis.
Map mouse menu appears when you right click on the map analysis window.

You may undo panning and zooming operation.

1. Use Map Panning, Data Panning, Site Panning, Zoom In, Zoom Out, Zoom All

3. The map analysis window shows the prior status after panning and zooming
operation.

NOTE: You may undo max 10 times.

Configure
Configure option allows you to change display options and properties.

Base Map

Base Map option is for MIF map engine only.

This option enables you to import converted geo file. For detail, see MIF
engine.

Image Map

You may import and export map file in bmp format.

This option is useful when there is no relevant digital map for GPS
measurement data.

Insert

To insert bmp map,

1. Right click on a map analysis window, and go to Configure – Image


Map – Insert. Image Map appears.

2. Find a bmp map file to import by clicking Browse


button.

3. Click Apply button to apply the selected bmp file onto map
analysis window.

4. Use panning options to adjust map and data.

NOTE: Do not close Image Map window while panning the map and data.

5. Enter map scale in Reduced Scale of Map entry field. Click Apply
button.

6. Select on Check Position checkbox to fit the map and data. Default
check position is two.

7. Point the first two blue X marks on data and the second two red X
marks on its corresponding map position. The X marks for data and
map are matched.

NOTE: You may repeat Check Position step.

Create KML button: Export *.kml file with GPS data, and route on Google
Earth map is displayed.

8. Click Close button.

9. Update window appears to ask whether you want to apply the bmp
map file to all models or to the current model only.

10. Click OK.

Remove

To remove the imported bmp map from map analysis window,

1. Right click on a map analysis window, and go to Configure – Image


Map – Remove.

2. Update window appears to ask whether you want to remove the bmp
map file from all models or from the current model only.

NOTE: Update window appears only when you selected Yes, apply to all
models checkbox for import.

Map Layer Control

This option is activated when you installed MapX Engine.

You may set map options and properties.

1. Right click on a map analysis window, and go to Configure – Map


Layer Control. MapInfo MapX V4 Properties window appears.

2. Set map options and properties referring to MapX Engine User Guide.

3. Click OK.

Legend

You may change legend setting of each parameter.

To change legend,

1. Right click on a map analysis window and go to Configure – Legend,

Show symbol values on the map as symbol data. With zoom function, you
can see the detailed data values.

Copy to Clipboard
You may copy the current page and paste the page on other file.

Export
You may export the current map image into graph files in jpg, bmp, gif, etc or
report files in xls and ppt.

1. Right click on a map analysis window, and select Export.

2. Select among the following export types.

The detailed information of each export type is as follows.

To BMP/JPG/GIF Export a map image to BMP, JPG and GIF file.


To Report Export a map image to Excel or PowerPoint file.
Export a map to an existing excel or power point file. The

Distance option shows distance between two points by making a circle and line.

Circle

Distance Circle measures distance between two points by making a circle.

To make a circle and measure the distance,

1. Right click on a map analysis window, and go to Distance – Circle. Or

click on Circle icon in main Tool bar.

2. Mark one point and drag it to another point to draw a circle.

3. Distance between the two marked points is displayed.

Line

Distance Line measure distance between points by making lines.

To make lines and measure the distance,

1. Right click on a map analysis window, and go to Distance – Line.

2. Mark points to make lines by clicking over the map analysis window.

3. Right click and select End to stop marking points.

between the marked points.

Remove

Distance Remove option removes circles and lines which are created for
measuring distance between points on a map analysis window.

To remove circles and lines,

1. Right click on a map analysis window, and go to Distance – Remove.

2. All circles and lines which are created are removed.

Find
Find option allows you to find out a specific position or Site/Sector on a large map.

To use Find option,

1. Right click on a map analysis window, and select Find. Or click on Find
icon in main Tool bar. Find window appears.

Selection Mode
Selection Mode option allows you to select how to select data on a map analysis
window.

You may select data in rectangle, polygon, and circle shape.

1. Right click on a map analysis window, and select Selection Mode.

2. Select one of the following selection types.


Classification Description

Mark one point and drag it to another point to draw a


Rectangle
rectangle shape. Data in the rectangle shape are selected.
Select several points to make polygon shape. Right click if
Polygon you want to stop selecting points. Data in the polygon shape
are selected.

Classification Description

This option is useful for selecting data in complicated route


or area.
Mark one point and drag it to another point to draw a circle.
Data in the circle shape are selected.
This option is useful when you want to select data in a
Circle specific distance from a Site.
NOTE: Set distance circle interval from main Menu bar –
Tools – Options – Map Property – Distance Circle
Interval. See Map Property.

3. Click on any point on the map analysis window, the data are unselected.

NOTE: Rectangle selection mode is a default map mouse option. Rectangle


selection mode is set to select data when the other map options (e.g. Zoom In)
are not selected.

Selection Manager
You may hide, show, and select a specific range of data on a map analysis window.

1. Select a data range by using map mouse menu - Selection Mode. See
Selection Mode.

2. Right click on a map analysis window, and select Selection Manager.


Selection Manager window appears.

3. Select one of the following display modes.


Classification Description

Show Show the selected data.


Hide Hide the selected data.
Select Select the selected data.

NOTE: Selection Name can be changed by double-clicking in the column.

4. Click OK.
NOTE: Selection setting is applied to other models opened.

Range To Sync
Range To Sync option allows you to figure out a specific data range for multiple
parameters in multiple analysis types.

1. Open multiple parameter windows in workspace. See Open Multiple


Parameters.

2. Select a data range by using map mouse menu - Selection Mode. See
Selection Mode.

3. Right click on a map analysis window, and select Range To Sync.

4. Same data range is selected in multiple parameter windows.

NOTE: Same data range is not selected for the analysis window, which is opened
after Range To Sync function use.

Create Model
Create Model option enables you to create a new model only with the selected
data range.

1. Select a data range by using map mouse menu - Selection Mode. See
Selection Mode.

2. Right click on a map analysis window, and select Create Model.

3. Select one of the following selection types.


Classification Description

Selected Range Create a new model including the selected data range.
Out Of Create a new model excluding the selected data range.
Selected Range

4. XCAP analyzer creates a model, and displays it automatically.

NOTE: When you create a new model XCAP also generates a new log file into the
model folder. The new model name is given automatically by XCAP. The new
model name is in the format of”<original model name>_RM####”. ”####” is a
number that increases every time you create a new model. You can create a new
model as many as you want.

Create Template
Create Template option allows you to save customized multiple analysis windows
in different analysis types as a template, and easily resume your job by re-
opening them in next time.

NOTE: Create Template option is applied for multiple analysis windows in


different analysis types.

1. Open parameter windows in the workspace, and change any options you want.

2. Right-click on an analysis window, and select Create Template. Target


template name window appears.

3. Enter a template name in the entry field. Click OK.

4. A new template is created successfully.

5. The created template is added in Template window, and can be edited, re-
named, and removed from main Menu bar – Tools – Template. For detail,
Graphic User Interface – Menu bar - Tools.

6. To add more parameter windows in the existing template, right-click on any


analysis window and select Create Template.

7. Select an existing template name by clicking combo box in Target template


name window. Click OK.

NOTE: Step 1 through 6 can be repeated as many times as you want.

8. To open the created template, go to main Menu bar – Tools – Template, and
double-click a template name.

Create Favorite
Create Favorite option allows you to save customized multiple analysis windows in
one analysis type as a Favorite, and easily reopen them in next time.

The created favorite is added under Favorite Info tree of corresponding analysis
type tab.

NOTE: Create Favorite option is applied for multiple analysis windows in one
analysis type.

1. Open more than one parameter in one analysis window. See Open Multiple
Parameters.
2. Right click on the map analysis window, and select Create Favorite.
3. A new favorite is added under Favorite Info tree of corresponding analysis
type tab.
NOTE: Step 1 through 3 can be repeated as many times as you want.

4. To open the parameter windows saved in a favorite, double-click on a favorite


name under the corresponding analysis tab or drag it into the workspace.
NOTE: If you right click on favorite name, you may rename or remove the favorite.

NOTE: Once you create and save a favorite, you may find same favorite name
under Favorite Info tree after you open a different model.

NOTE: Create Favorite option can be found in all analysis type tabs except
Message.

Binning
Binning option enables you to divide sections in designated area, called bin, and
extract representative values in each bin. This option also compares and analyzes
the values in each bin.

1. Right click on a map analysis window, and go to Binning – Create Area.

2. Select area you want to create bin by dragging on the map analysis window.

NOTE: You may change area selection mode from Map mouse menu – Selection
Mode. For detail, see Selection Mode.

4. Set area and bin size.

Input: Double click on Input cell and enter Large, Medium, Small area names.
Large, Medium, Small area are designed to manage multiple areas based on the
size and relationship of area. Large area contains Medium areas, and Medium
area contains Small areas. You may find Large, Medium, Small area names from
Manage Area window.

List: Apply existing name.

Bin-X, Bin-Y: Enter Bin X and Y axis size.

5. Click OK.

6. Manage Area window appears.

Manage Area window also appears when you select on Map mouse menu -
Binning – Manage Area.

7. Set area binning options.

The detailed description of each option is as follows.


Classification Description

Search Search a certain area (Large/Medium/Small).


Clear Initiate all option settings in Area Management window.
Create a new area.
New You may change longitude and latitude of starting and ending
point by double-clicking directly on Start-Lon/Lat, End-

10. Right click on the map analysis window, and go to Binning – Run. Set
Binning Options window appears.

11. Set options for binning.

The detailed description of each option is as follows.


Classification Description

Select formula for representative value to be displayed in


each bin by clicking drop-down button.
Apply to All: Apply formula for all parameters selected.
This option is useful when more than one parameters are
opened in a map analysis window.
Average: Display average value of each bin at the center
Sampling Function
position based on time.
Medium: Display nearest value of average in each bin at its
original position. If there are identical values at more than
one position, Medium value is displayed at the firstly
founded position.
Median: Display middle size data at its original position. If

Maximum: Display maximum value of each bin at its

position, min value is displayed at the firstly founded
position.
First: Display the first data based on time in each bin at its
original position.
Last: Display the last data based on time in each in at its
original position.
Mode: Display value which occurs most frequently in each
bin at its original position. If there are identical values at
more than one position, mode value is displayed at the lastly
founded position.
NOnTE: If you run binning for Sector and PSC Type
parameters, only Mode value is displayed whichever formula
you select.
Select related parameter.
Click Related Parameter button at the left bottom of the
window to set related parameter.
Apply to All: Apply related parameter for all parameters

selected. This option is useful when more than one
parameters are opened in a map analysis window.
NOTE: Related Param function performs only when Area
Binning is checked.
Route Binning: Perform binning based on specified bin size
along the route.
Bin Size (m): Enter bin size for route binning in the entry

Route Binning. Click Select button to select parameters.
Set Binning Option Area Binning: Perform binning based on the created area.
Plot at the center of bin: Display representative value at
the center of each bin.
Include data in Area: Choose bins including data and
perform binning.
Select Area: Select area. You may select among all area
set from Manage Area window.

NOTE: You may rename and delete the binned parameters under Route Binning
and Area Binning tree by right clicking the parameter and select on Rename
and Delete.

Delta Map is an advanced function of Binning. See Binning.

Delta Map compares binning result in each area.

1. Open more than two (binned) parameter windows in workspace. See Open

Create Sector Graph


Create Sector Graph allows you to find out Sectors over a specific value in a
specific area.

Create Sector Graph option appears when your key lock driver includes
CDMA/EVDO only.

1. Open parameter under Sector Scanner parameter tree.

2. Select data you want to perform Create Sector Graph function in the
opened map analysis window. See Selection Mode to change data selection

3. Right click on the map analysis window, and select Create Sector Graph. Or

click on Create Sector Graph icon in Map Tool bar.

4. Ec/Io Threshold for Sector Graph window appears.

8. Right click on the Sector Graph window, and Sector Graph mouse menu

XCAP enables you to replay data in the logging area.

You may run Replay in Graph, Table, Map, and Message analysis window
simultaneously.

1. Open parameters for Graph, Table, Map, and Message analysis type in the
workspace.

NOTE: One map parameter window should be opened to run Replay function.

2. Right click on a map analysis window, and select Replay.

Sector Graph

You may verify the changes of Active, Candidate, and Neighbor Sector while
Replay is in progress.

1. Set items in Replay window.

2. Click Sector Graph button in Replay window.


3. Selection Model window appears.

Ec/Io Threshold: Set Ec/Io threshold value by clicking


through the bar (10dB) or pressing left/right arrow key on
the keyboard (1dB).
Sort By EcIo: Display higher Ec/Io values from left box in
Sector History section, as well as display the values in
Active Set, Candidate Set, and Neighbor Set order.
Active Set: If select the checkbox, you may enter Active
Sectors you want to display in boxes in Sector History
section in the six entry fields above. If unselected the
checkbox, Active Sectors are displayed in time order.
Double-click on the color box to change Active Set color.
Candidate Set: Double-click on the color box to change
Candidate Set color.
Neighbor Set: Double-click on the color box to change
Neighbor Set color.
Sector History Display Active Set up to 6 Active Sector.

7. Click Play button in Replay window to synchronize with Sector Graph.


Sector Graph window is opened and shows changes of Active Set,
Candidate Set, and Neighbor Set while replay.

Replay with Sector Graph window

NOTE: The number of Sector Graphs you may display at once while replay
depends on size of log files and your PC performances.

Site Selection
This functionality makes users to select sites by dragging mouse on the Map
window. Color of the sites also could be changed by this functionality. The users
could select Site or Repeater.

Classification Description

Site Select all Site within the range of the user’s selection
Repeater Select all Repeater within the range of the user’s selection
The following procedure explains how to use it.

1. Select either Site or Repeater from the Site Selection of Mouse Menu on the
map.
2. Select Site or Repeater by dragging mouse.

A circle will be displayed on the selected Site or the Repeater. The will be used in
the Site Color Change functionality later on.

Export Site/Repeater
It is used after selecting each site using Site Selection function.
The following procedure explains how to use it.

1. Select a site using Site Selection.


2. After selecting a path to export, name a file to save.
3. Click Save.

Site Color Change


This program allows you to change a color of the site on the Map window. The color
could be changed from Sector Color of options of Tools in the Main menu or from
the users’ setting to unify one color.
Please see the following procedure for the detail information.

The following procedure explains how to create a new model.

1. Click Site Selection in the Map Mouse Menu and select the site that you want
to change color.
2. Select the Site Color Change of Mouse Menu in the map. The window
appeared like below.

3. To change the color of all sites to one color, check a box for “Change All
Selectors’ Color.”
4. Select “Change Each Sector Color” to change the color of the Site in the
group of Sectors.
5. Click Apply button to perform above.

This method has the higher priority over the method of menu “Options.”

Set Sector Coverage

This program displays the coverage area of a Sector of Site or Repeater with
various colors on a map.

Please follow the procedure below to set Sector coverage.

1. Right-click on a map window and select Site Line.


2. Select Set Sector Coverage tab, Set Sector Coverage window
appears.

3. Select Sector for Site or Repeater.

Click Check All if you want to select all Sectors, or click UnCkeck All if you
want to unselect all Sectors.

4. Select a Sector and set coverage color.


5. Click OK to display coverage area of the selected Sectors.

Set Site – Repeater Line

This program displays repeater lines on a map window.

1. Right click on a map window, and select Site Line.

2. Select Site – Repeater Line tab, Set Site – Repeater Line window
appears.

3. Select Sector for Site or Repeater.

Click Check All if you want to select all Sector, or click UnCkeck All if you
want to unselect all Sector.

4. Click OK.

The program displays lines between Site and Repeater.

Highlight Co-Sector
This program highlights Site (sector) which includes same Sector with other Site
(sector) on Map window. This function also allows you to make sure Neighbor list
of corresponding Site on Map window.

1. Right-click on Map window, and select Highlight Co-Sector.

2. Click a sector and the Map marks the sectors which include same PSC with
the corresponding sector with red color.

3. The Map also marks Neighbor List of the corresponding sector with yellow
green color.

NOTE: Neighbor List for UMTS is marked in blue color.

NOTE: If you click on UMTS and GSM sectors, the following window appears.

It means UMTS and GSM supports Inter RAT Neighbor List for each other.

4. Right-click on Map window and re-select Highlight Co-Sector. All marked


colors are returned to default.

NOTE: Coverage Line Highlight Co-Sector and Coverage Line do not work at once.

When Highlight Co-Sector is selected, coverage line cannot be drawn.

Best Server Cell Name


The program displays cell name of best server for corresponding route on a map
window.

You may use this function after importing relevant Site information.

1. Right click on a map window, and select Best Server Cell Name.

2. Select UMTS, GSM, or LTE.

3. The program performs post-processing, and displays best server cell name in
text on map window.

Edit Sector
Edit Sector option helps easy access to manage Site and Repeater. You may
manage each Site and Repeater respectively.

Edit Section option appears when your key lock driver includes WiBro only.

1. Right click on a map analysis window, and select Edit Sector.

2. Edit Sector window appears.

3. Set Site and Repeater options. See Site/Repeater list.

NOTE: You may click over sector image in Edit Sector window, and move a
sector in any direction to adjust azimuth simply.

Legend Mouse Menu


You can show or hide the data that fall in the specific legend level. Right click on
the legend box on the map. Select a level to show or hide. When you hide the data
on the map the corresponding legend level is also grey out in the legend box. The
following figure is an example.

Call Result Legend Setting


This function enables users to calculate Legend statistics of each event shown in
the Viewer. Legend Setting and Statistics Setting are available here.

Legend Setting
The Legend Setting function enables users to select a sorting method between
"Sort by Value" and "Sort by Percent" for each event.

Statistics Setting
Follow the procedure below to use Statistics Setting function.

1. Select a parameter of Call Result from within in the Map Parameter Tree and
double-click or drag it into the Work Space.
2. Double-click the Legend at the bottom right in the displayed map, and then
the window appears as below.

Statistics Setting is described in detail below.


Classification Description

All Event All the events shown in the Map Legend appear.
Select events which are unnecessary for statistics calculation
Select events to
from the total call, and input the corresponding number of
exclude from total call

3. Click an event you want to calculate to highlight in the left pane.

6. Click the OK button to complete the setting, and then this will be reflected to
corresponding items in the Legend.

Show Zoom Level Window


Show Zoom Level bar helps you to zoom in or out map analysis window. Show
Zoom Level bar appears in a map analysis window, and provides 13 zooming
levels.

This option is available with Smart map engine only.

1. Right click on a map analysis window, and select Show Zoom Level
Window.

2. Show Zoom Level bar appears in map analysis window.

3. Click zoom level.

Table Analysis
This chapter explains how to analyze parameters in table.

Open Parameter

To analyze parameters as table, select Table Tab in Work Bar.


When you select Table Tab, Parameter tree available for graph analysis is displayed. If a
parameter is in black or activated, it is available for table analysis. If a parameter is in
grey or inactivated, it is not available for table analysis.

Open Single Parameter Table


You can open one parameter in one table window.
Please look at the following procedure to open single parameter table.

1. Select a parameter in Table Parameter Tree.

Classification Description

Data Table Display the data on every second as Spreads Sheet form.
Some parameters can be displayed based on event.
Statistics Table Display the total statistics data.
The statistics data includes the minimum, maximum, count,
average and standard deviation.

Open Multiple Parameter Table


You can open multiple parameters in one table window.
The following procedure explains how to open multiple parameter tables.
1. Open single parameter window. (See Open Single Parameter).
2. Drag another parameter and drop it onto the single parameter window
already open.
3. The new Parameter is added to a new column. You can add parameters as
many as you wish.

When you drag a group of parameters and drop it onto work space, the all
parameters of the group are displayed in one table window.
Look at the following procedure to delete a column from multiple parameter tables.
4. Right click on a column in a multiple parameter table to bring out mouse
menu.
5. Select Column Delete Menu to delete it.

Table Sorting

The program provides you with easier data sorting solution for Table analysis. Table
Sorting function filters and sorts data.

Items you may select for Table Sorting function are as follows.
Classification Description

Sort Ascending Sort data in ascending order.


Sort Descending Sort data in descending order.
All Unsort data.
Show data you select to be shown only.
If you select on Custom item. The following window appears.

Create Correlation function helps to analyze relationship between more than two
parameters.

1. Right-click on a multiple Table analysis window, and select Create

2. Correlation item is added under Favorite Info tree for both Table and Graph
analysis types.

3. Double-click the correlation item to open in the workspace.

4. Right-click on correlation table or graph window. Correlation mouse menu


appears.

Create Favorite
You can save a customized parameter window into as a favorite and open it later
easily. The new favorite is added into Favorite Info group of parameter tree.
Please look at the following procedure to save a favorite.

1. Open a parameter window and customize it as you wish.

2. Right click on it to bring out mouse menu and select Create Favorite menu.
3. The new favorite is added into Favorite Info group of parameter tree like
following.

4. To open a favorite, drag and drop it onto work space or double-click on it.
5. Favorite information is saved into the current model. When the current model
is changed the favorite info is also changed according to the model.
6. To rename or delete a favorite, right click on it to bring out mouse menu.
You can find Favorite Info group in all analysis types, except Message Tab.

Create Template
Create Template option allows you to save customized multiple analysis windows
in different analysis types as a template, and easily resume your job by re-
opening them in next time.

NOTE: Create Template option is applied for multiple analysis windows in


different analysis types.

1. Open parameter windows in the workspace, and change any options you want.

2. Right-click on an analysis window, and select Create Template. Target


template name window appears.

3. Enter a template name in the entry field. Click OK.

4. A new template is created successfully.

5. The created template is added in Template window, and can be edited, re-
named, and removed from main Menu bar – Tools – Template. For detail,
Graphic User Interface – Menu bar - Tools.

6. To add more parameter windows in the existing template, right-click on any


analysis window and select Create Template.

7. Select an existing template name by clicking combo box in Target template


name window. Click OK.

NOTE: Step 1 through 6 can be repeated as many times as you want.

8. To open the created template, go to main Menu bar – Tools – Template, and
double-click a template name.

Range to Sync
This program allows you to synchronize automatically the specific range on multiple
parameter windows by simple mouse clicking.
Please follow the procedure below to synchronize it.

1. Open the various Parameter Windows into Work Space such as Graph, Map,
Table, etc.
2. Highlight the specific range in a Parameter Window by dragging a mouse on it.
3. Right click on it to bring out mouse menu, select Range To Sync Menu.
4. The following example shows that the selected range was synchronized on
multiple parameter windows.
5. Or, double-click or press Enter key on your keyboard on a specific data in
table analysis window, and the selected range is synchronized on graph and
message windows.

Create Model
This program allows you to save the selected range of data into a new model. You
can also exclude the selected range of data and save the rest of data into a new
model.
Please see the following table for the detail information.
Classification Description

Selected Range Create new Model that includes the selected range of data.
Out of Selected Create new Model that excludes the selected range of data.
Range
The following procedure explains how to create a new model.

1. Highlight the specific range you want on a map by dragging on it.


2. Right click on a graph to bring out mouse menu. Select Create Model and
choose one of Range to Model or Out of Selected Range.
3. When the new model is created it is automatically loaded into XCAP.
When you create a new model XCAP also generates a new log file into the model
folder. The new model name is given automatically by XCAP. The new model name
is in the format of ”<original model name>_RM####”. ”####” is a number that
increases every time you create a new model. You can create a new model as
many as you want.

File Exporting
You can export a parameter table into an Excel or CSV file.
Please look at the following procedure.

1. Select File Exporting of Table Mouse Menu.

This function enables users to obtain the number of Scrambling Codes which
exceed the user-defined value on CPICH Ec/Io Value (or RSCP).
There are two options; one is Threshold, which counts the number of PSCs that
exceed the absolute value defined by a user on CPICH Ec/Io value (or RSCP), and
the other is Difference, which counts the number of PSCs that are within the
difference when CPICH Ec/Io value (or RSCP) is compared with the Dominant PSC
value.(e.g. the number of PSCs whose difference between Dominant and the other
is within the defined reference.)
Reference Count is used for the creating a Report and determines the number of
top PSCs for pollution.
In the TCC mode and the NOKIA mode, Pilot Pollution is equivalent to this item.

Threshold

Details of Threshold window are described as below.

XCAP-W simulates Neighbor List of each cell by using scanner measurement data.
Missing Neighbor information can be also provided for users by using UE
measurement data.

Neighbor List Analysis is a function which provides Neighbor List of each cell
by using scanner measurement data. Dominant Scrambling Code is
considered as a reference cell of Neighbor List.

Follow the procedure below to use this function.

1. Double-click New under Qualcomm or NOKIA_PSC Scanner_[Scanner


Type]_Neighbor List Analysis or drag it into the Work Space.

2. After deploying into the Work Space, the following window shall appear,
and input values into each item field.

1. Click New under Qualcomm or NOKIA_Pilot Set_Finding Missing


Neighbors, or drag it into the Work Space.

This chapter explains how to analyze parameters in message.

Open Message Window

To analyze parameters as graph, select Graph Tab in Work Bar or press icon of Main
Tool Bar. When you select Message Tab, Parameter tree available for graph analysis is
displayed. If a parameter is in black or activated, it is available for message analysis. If a
parameter is in grey or inactivated, it is not available for message analysis.

Please look at the following procedure to open a message window.

1. Go to main Menu bar – Message – Logging Message.

Message parameter tree consists of Event, Statistics and Logging Message. The parameter
trees of Event and Statistics can be different according to the network system such as
CDMA, 1xRTT, EVDO, etc.

Logging Message Window


Logging Message Window consists of Filter Tree Window, Number Field, All Message
View, Filtered Message View, Detail View, Hexacode View, and Bit Code Window.

Classification Description

Filter Tree You can display the desired message using Filter Tree. The
View organization of the Filter Tree can be different depending on Model. To
select all messages, push Select All button. To cancel the all data
selection, push UnSelect All. To filter the message, push Apply button.
To load the previous filter condition, select the Load button. To save
the current filter condition, select Save button. To hide Filter Tree
Window, push Close button.
Number Field Arrange messages by time sorting.
All Message All Message Window shows all Logging Messages.
View
Filtered Filtered Message View displays the filtered messages.
Message View
Detail View Detail View displays the detail message information when you click a
message in All Message View or Filtered Message View.

Hexcode View Hexcode View displays hexcodes of the message when you click a
message All Message View or Filtered Message View. You can copy
hexacodes into the clipboard using mouse menu – Copy All, Select
Copy.
Bit Code Display bits of selected octet in the hexacode window. It is useful
Window when hexacodes are analyzed in the format of bits. Drag the octet to
be analyzed in the hexacode window or double-click it to read the
bits.
In Detail Viewer window the user double-click data, the related hex code for the
data is synchronized as bold. This synchronization is only available to signaling

1. Click on a particular call that you wish to make a log file.


Select Create Log File for Each Call from the mouse pop up menu.

Column Condition
Column Condition enables you to filter statistics data by a few of criteria of each
parameter such as Operator, Value, etc.
Please look at the following procedure to filter statistics data.

1. Select Column Condition Menu of Mouse Menu in Statistics Window.


2. The following window is displayed.

3. Select a parameter in Column Condition Window


4. Set conditions for the selected parameter.
5. Press OK button to apply.
6. All open statistics windows will be updated with the filtered parameters.

Event Filtering
You can select call events to show and hide in a Call Statistics Window.

1. Right click on a Call Statistics Window to bring out mouse menu and select
Event Filtering Menu.
2. The following Event Filter Window will appear.

Call Type Filtering


Call Type Filtering function enables you to select which PS Call Type items are
displayed in PS Call Statistics window.

1. Right-click on PS Call Statistics window, and select Call Type Filtering.

2. Call Type Filter window appears.

3. Select which call types are to be displayed in PS Call Statistics window.

4. Click OK.

Create Model
This program allows you to save the selected range of data into a new model. You
can also exclude the selected range of data and save the rest of data into a new

Hide Detail
You can show or hide detail view of Session information in a MS Session Statistics

1. Right click on a MS Session Statistics window to bring out mouse menu and
select Hide Detail Menu.
2. The detail view will disappear immediately.
3. To show the detail view again, select Show Detail of mouse menu.

Message Duration Time


You could see Duration time of messages or events or both.
The following procedure explains how to use this functionality.

1. Select Message Time from statistics tree in the Message Analysis Tree or
open message Duration Time window and select Duration on the Mouse menu.
2. You will be able to see the window like below.

3. Select the messages or the events on the left field of the Select Message
Window.
4. Click in the From/To field.
5. Duration time between the messages or the events will be estimated and

Setup Range Setting


Setup Range Setting allows you to find setup time in a separate column in PS Call
Statistics window.

Bookmark
You can set bookmarks on messages and go to the messages with bookmarks later
directly.

1. Select a message in All Message View.


2. Right click on it to bring out mouse menu, select Set Bookmark and Set
Bookmark or press icon of Viewer Bar.
3. Set a few of bookmarks more.
4. Press Next Bookmark or icon to find the next book mark. Press Previous
Bookmark or icon to find the previous bookmark.
5. To remove all bookmarks, select Remove All Bookmarks or icon of Viewer
Bar.
If you want to set multiple bookmarks at one time, select a few of messages in
Logging Message Window while pressing Shift or Control key and press Set
Bookmark icon.

Find
This function allows you to find the text that you want within the Message.
The following procedure describes the usage of this program.

1. Click Find of Message Mouse menu in the logging Message Window (Mouse
pointer has to be on the All Message Window or Filtered Message Window).
The following Find window will be appeared.

2. Type text in the Find String Field which you want to find. If you check the
Match Case box, then it will distinguish upper letter and lower letter.
3. Select “All Message Window” for finding it within all message and select
“Filtered Message Window” for finding it within the filtered message.
4. If you want to find it from selected message then click “Selected Message”
and for within no limited message, click “All Message.”
5. If you want to find it from bookmarked message, click “Bookmarked Range.”
6. If the string you want to find is in a sheet name, select Sheet from Move
Point. Or if the string is in contents, click Detail.
7. If you want to bookmark the found string, check Add Bookmark.
8. To find the next one, press OK button.

9. If the finding process finished, the contents will be saved in the bookmark
and user will be able to confirm it.
Depends on the search range, this process will take a lot of time. It is, therefore,
recommended narrowed the search range using the Message Filter.

Export
You can export a parameter message window into an Excel, CSV, or a plain text file.
Please look at the following procedure.

1. Select Export of Message Mouse Menu in a parameter message window.


2. The following Message Export window will appear.

3. Set various export options.

and Hex code at once. If the user selects this
option, The user can enter a Longitude/Latitude
directly in GPS Info.
Include Signal Export the name of signaling messages and
Summmary their hexa codes in one line as *.txt file. (This
option is activated when there are WCDMA
signaling messages.)
Select Format Select a file format, Excel, CSV and Txt.
If the exported data is exceeded the limit of save capacity, the file
saved as Excel format attaches the new sheet to current saved file. If
the file is saved as CSV format, the new CSV file is created. If the file
is saved as Text format, the Text file is not affected.
Select Detail & Hex The detail message and hexcode are saved as a
Configuration after sheet new sheet after message sheet.

1. Select Filter Tree Menu of Message Mouse Menu or press icon of Viewer
Bar.
2. The following Filter Tree View will appear.

3. Select filter items on the tree and press Apply button. The filtered messages
will be displayed in Filtered Message View.
4. Press Save button to save the current status of Filter Tree into a file. Press
Load button to load a file into Filter Tree.
5. Press Select All button to select all filter items. Press Unselect All button to
unselect all filter items.
Please look at the following procedure to how to use mouse menu of Filter Tree.

1. Right click on Filter Tree View to bring out mouse menu.


2. Press Close menu to hide Filter Tree View.
3. Press Message Property menu, the following window will appear.

4. Select a message in the tree view to set properties.


5. Select a color, size, font style and font for the message.

6. If you want to apply the current properties to all messages in the same group
( ) press Apply All.
7. Press OK to set properties.
The Filtered Message View always keeps the previous filter option. If the current
model has no previous filter option no messages in the Filtered Message View are
displayed.

Show/Hide
You can show or hide number or time fields as well as message views. The
following table describes the detail information of Show/Hide.

Show Filtered Message Show the Filtered Message View.
Show Detail Window Show the Detail Message View.
Show Hexcode Show the Hexcode View.

New Filter
This program allows you to filter specific messages and show them in Filtered
Message View using New Filter Tree.
Please look at the following procedure to filter messages.

1. Select New Filter Menu of Message Mouse Menu.


2. The following New Filter Tree Window will appear.

3. Select filter items on the tree and press Apply button. The filtered messages
will be displayed in Filtered Message View.
4. Press Save button to save the current status of Filter Tree into a file. Press
Load button to load a file into Filter Tree.

unselect all filter items.
The filtered message window displayed by New Filter function includes the detail
message window and Hexcode window. The filtered message window displayed by
New Filter function can not use the Viewer Bar of Tool Bar.

Divide Msg
You can divide messages into Forward Code and Reverse Code automatically.
Please look at the following procedure to divide messages.

1. Select Divide Msg of Message Mouse Menu.


2. Messages will be divided like the following example.

You can add messages with GPS coordinates into a map.

1. Select messages in All Message View


2. Right click on All Message View to bring out mouse menu and select Add to
Map.

3. The following Add To Map window will appear.

4. Select a message view.


5. Select a message to add in Area section.
6. Press OK button to bring out Message Viewer Data Group.

7. Enter Group Name of displayed message on the Map by pushing the New in
Message Viewer Data Group Window. If the user pushes the OK after
selecting a existing Group Name, a warning dialog pops up and asks whether
the user will overwrite it or not. Press OK button to overwrite it. Press Cancel

button to cancel it. The created group can be deleted and renamed by
pushing the Delete and Rename.
8. When you enter new Group Name, the new item in the Map Parameter Tree is
added.

9. You can check the position of the message with the item of Logging
Message Data Tree on the Map Tree.
The legend of Message displayed on Map can be changed in Map Setting of
Configure Menu in Map Mouse menu.
If the user wants to compare the location for the various messages the user should
select Add to Map function separately in Filtered Message window after filtering the
desired message.

Add User Column


This program provides a column that consists of the text of Messages which you
want to find.
The following procedure describes how to use Add User Column.

1. Select Add User Column of Message Mouse menu in the logging Message
Window (Mouse pointer has to be on the All Message Window or Filtered
Message Window). The following Message Find Window will be appeared.

2. Select All Message Window in the Find Window field for finding it within all
messages and select “Filtered Message Window” for finding it within the
filtered messages.
3. Type text that you want to find in the String1 field of Find String. If you wish
to find two texts, set Operation field and type text in the String2 field.
4. If you check the Match Case box, then it will distinguish upper letter and
lower letter.
5. Select column from Column field, which consists of texts you found and it is
set from User1 to User5.
6. Press OK button and the Column field that you want to add will be added in
the All Message Window and filtered Message Window.

Show Vertical Frame


The detail message view and hexcode view are located in the right side of All
Message View. You can move them to the bottom of Logging Message Window.
Please look the following procedure to move them.

1. Right click on All Message View to bring out mouse menu and select Show
Vertical Frame.
2. The detail, hexacode view is moved to the bottom of Logging Message
Window.

Analysis

This chapter explains how to analyze parameters in CDF/PDF graph.

Open CDF/PDF Graph

To analyze parameters as CDF/PDF graph, select CDF/PDF Tab in Work Bar. When you
select CDF/PDF Tab, Parameter tree available for CDF/PDF graph analysis is displayed. If
a parameter is in black or activated, it is available for CDF/PDF graph analysis. If a
parameter is in grey or inactivated, it is not available for CDF/PDF graph analysis.

Open Single CDF/PDF Parameter Graph


You can open one parameter in one graph window.
Please look at the following procedure to open single CDF/PDF parameter graph.

1. Select a parameter in CDF/PDF Graph Parameter Tree.


2. Drag and drop it onto Work Space or double-click it.

2. Drag another parameter and drop it onto the single parameter window
already open.
3. The new graph is added below the first parameter Graph. You can add graphs
as many as you wish.

Multiple CDF/PDF Graph Window Open


When you drag a group of parameters and drop it onto work space, the all
parameters of the group are displayed in one graph window.
Look at the following procedure to delete a graph from multiple parameter graphs.

1. Right click on a graph in a multiple parameter graph to bring out mouse

2. Select Remove Graph Menu to delete it.

Open Overlay CDF/PDF Parameter Graph


You can have a few of parameters overlaid in one graph window.
Here is the procedure to how to open overlay graph.

1. Follow the procedure of opening single parameter graph.


2. Drag a new parameter and drop it onto the single parameter graph while
pressing Alt key.
3. The new parameter is overlaid on top of the old parameter like the following
graph.

Overlay CDF/PDF Graph Window


You cannot remove a parameter from overlay graph. The color of new parameter
overlaid is chosen automatically for example black, red, green, yellow, etc.

CDF/PDF Mouse Menu

You can change the properties of CDF/CDF Graph or use the various functions for CDF/PDF
Graph Window using CDF/PDF Mouse Menu. CDF/PDF Mouse Menu appears by right
clicking on a CDF/PDF graph window.

2D/3D Line Graph


This program can display 2D/3D Line CDF/PDF Graph.

2. A single parameter CDF/PDF window will appear. 2D line graph is default like
the following example.

3. Press 3D Line Graph of CDF/PDF Mouse Menu. The 2D line graph will be
changed to 3D Line Graph like the following example.

2. A single parameter CDF/PDF window will appear. 2D line graph is default.
Select 3D Bar Graph of CDF/PDF Mouse Menu to change the current CDF/PDF
into 3D bar graph. Look at the following example.

graph into 2D bar graph. Look at the following example.

CDF/PDF Line -> Bar


You can easily change CDF/PDF graph type from Line to Bar or Bar to Line.
Follow the procedure to change CDF/PDF Graph type.

1. Right click on it to bring out mouse menu and select CDF/PDF Line -> Bar.
2. When you select CDF/PDF Line -> Bar, the CDF/PDF Graph is changed to Bar
Graph.

CDF/PDF & Stats.


CDF/PDF & Stats. option analyzes CDF and PDF for one parameter simultaneously
in one CDF/PDF graph analysis window.

1. Right click on a CDF/PDF Graph analysis window, and select CDF/PDF & Stats.

CDF/PDF & Stats. window

CDF is displayed in 2D line graph, and PDF is displayed in 2D bar graph. Also,
statistics information is shown in table in CDf/PDF & Stats. window.

Remove Graph
You can remove a graph from Multiple CDF/PDF Parameter Graph Window.
The following procedure explains how to remove a graph.

1. Right click on a Multiple CDF/PDF Parameter Graph Window to bring out


mouse menu.
2. Press Remove Graph menu.
This function is available only for a multiple parameter graph window.

Create Template
Create Template option allows you to save customized multiple analysis windows
in different analysis types as a template, and easily resume your job by re-
opening them in next time.

NOTE: Create Template option is applied for multiple analysis windows in


different analysis types.

1. Open parameter windows in the workspace, and change any options you want.

2. Right-click on an analysis window, and select Create Template. Target


template name window appears.

3. Enter a template name in the entry field. Click OK.

4. A new template is created successfully.

5. The created template is added in Template window, and can be edited, re-
named, and removed from main Menu bar – Tools – Template. For detail,
Graphic User Interface – Menu bar - Tools.

6. To add more parameter windows in the existing template, right-click on any


analysis window and select Create Template.

7. Select an existing template name by clicking combo box in Target template


name window. Click OK.

NOTE: Step 1 through 6 can be repeated as many times as you want.

8. To open the created template, go to main Menu bar – Tools – Template, and
double-click a template name.

Create Favorite
You can save a customized parameter window into as a favorite and open it later
easily. The new favorite is added into Favorite Info group of parameter tree.
Please look at the following procedure to save a favorite.

1. Open a parameter window and customize it as you wish.


2. Right click on it to bring out mouse menu and select Create Favorite menu.
3. The new favorite is added into Favorite Info group of parameter tree like
following.

4. To open a favorite, drag and drop it onto work space or double-click on it.
5. Favorite information is saved into the current model. When the current model
is changed the favorite info is also changed according to the model.
6. To rename or delete a favorite, right click on it to bring out mouse menu.
You can find Favorite Info group in all analysis types, except Message Tab.

Copy to Clipboard
You can copy the current window using Copy to Clipboard menu.
To use Copy to Clipboard menu, select the Copy to Clipboard menu on Graph Bar or
Graph Mouse Menu and click the desired window.

Export
You can export a CDF/PDF graph into a graphic file such as JPG, BMP, GIF, excel or
power point file.
The following table describes the detail information of export function.
Classification Description

to BMP/JPG/GIF Export a CDF/PDF graph to BMP, JPG and GIF file.


To Report Export a CDF/PDF graph to Excel or PowerPoint file.
Export a CDF/PDF graph to an existing excel or power point file.
To Current Report
The new sheet or new slide will be added into the existing file.
Here is the procedure to export it.

1. Right click on a graph to bring out mouse menu.


2. Select Export and choose one of ’to BMP’, ’to JPG’, ’to GIF’, ’to Report’ and ’to
Current Report’.
3. Save As window will appear. Select a file format and file name to save and
press Save button.
4. After pressing Save button, the message box selecting the open of saved file
or folder is appeared.
5. Select the open option or press Close button.

You can print out a CDF/PDF graph.

Show Legend
You can show or hide legend on a CDF/PDF window.
Please look at the following procedure.

1. Right click on a CDF/PDF to pop up mouse menu and select Show Legend.
2. A legend box will appear in the right side of the CDF/PDF like following
example.

3. Show Legend is a toggle menu. If you want to remove the legend select the
menu again. The legend will be removed.
