Indicates a procedure, condition, or statement that, if not strictly observed, could result in
personal injury or death.
Warning
Indicates a procedure or condition that, if not strictly observed, could result in damage to or
destruction of equipment.
Caution
Attention
This equipment contains a potential hazard of electric shock, burn, or death. Only
personnel who are adequately trained and thoroughly familiar with the equipment and the
instructions should install, operate, or maintain this equipment
Warning
Isolation of test equipment from the equipment under test presents potential electrical
hazards. If the test equipment cannot be grounded to the equipment under test, the test
equipment’s case must be shielded to prevent contact by personnel.
To minimize hazard of electrical shock or burn, approved grounding practices and
Warning procedures must be strictly followed.
Warning
Always ensure that applicable standards and regulations are followed and only properly
certified equipment is used as a critical component of a safety system. Never assume that the
Human-machine Interface (HMI) or the operator will close a safety critical control loop.

The screens are compliant with last GE’s ActivePoint™ Human-Machine Interface (HMI) design guidelines.
All elements used and displayed in the screens are issued from a common library homogenous with DCS and all Product line
in Power business. Moreover, the following screens could be used either in standalone (meaning DCS is a third-party system)
or in a DCS project.
This advanced HMI (available in option), is an HMI control interface based on Engineering Work Station on a Windows®-
based operating system with CIMPLICITY* operator display software and communication drivers for the unit data highways
(UDH).
The operator can initiate commands and view real-time data and alarms on the CIMPLICITY graphic display screens.
1.2 Features
Features Benefits
Enhanced graphical user interface
(GUI) based on last GE’s Intuitive, user friendly interface that is easy to view and operate.
ActivePoint™ Human-Machine
Interface (HMI) design guidelines.
Full Alarm monitoring Maximizes the ability to view and react to alarms as they occur
Enables the operator to determine the operating point of the generator as per the
Generator capability curve indication power chart.
To Check/Show the current privileges, use the Show Current Privileges Users command
The next block of information is related to Alarm details. It indicates the number of non-acknowledged alarms in Alarm
viewer (with corresponding level: LVL_1, LVL2, LVL3 or Alert).

Note 4 code alarms are provided and detailed in GEH-6789 EX2100e Excitation Control Diagnostic Alarms for Thyristor
Systems - Troubleshooting Guide diagnostic alarm.
The Alarm Viewer is displayed in work area. This is an integration of Workstation ST Alarm Viewer with simplified
configuration.

Regarding Antivirus update strategy, as per EWS not connected to Internet due to cybersecurity restrictions, periodically
(each maintenance visit), the last Virus definition must be updated with the following procedure.
6.1 Replacement
Replacement parts may contain static-sensitive components. Therefore, GE ships replacement parts in anti-static bags. When
handling electronics, make sure to store them in anti-static bags or boxes and use a grounding strap.
To prevent component damage caused by static electricity, treat all boards with static-
sensitive handling techniques. Wear a wrist grounding strap when handling boards or
components, but only after boards or components have been removed from potentially
energized equipment and are at a normally grounded workstation.
Caution
This equipment contains a potential hazard of electric shock, burn, or death. Only
personnel who are adequately trained and thoroughly familiar with the equipment and the
instructions should install, operate, or maintain this equipment.
Warning
To prevent electric shock, turn off power to the equipment, then test to verify that no power
exists in the board before touching it or any connected circuits.
Warning
To prevent equipment damage, do not remove, insert, or adjust board connections while
power is applied to the equipment.
Caution
For hardware replacement, we strongly recommend ordering a preconfigured EWS cybersecurity “ready” from GE (see
ordering in following)
Put an order to GE using the correct part number: 3VABC123EWS2 or 3VABC123EWS3 where ABC123 is the shop order
of the project.
EX2100e exciter GE static exciter; regulates the generator field current to control the
generator output voltage.
MVAR Mega volt-amperes reactive; the touchscreen includes bar graph and
variable displays to indicate system conditions such as generator MW
and MVARs.
MW Mega watt; the touchscreen includes bar graph and variable displays to
indicate system conditions such as generator MW and MVARs.
ToolboxST Application
A Windows-based software package used to configure the EX2100e
and Mark VIe turbine controller.
V/Hz V/Hz is the ratio of generator voltage to the frequency; this is limited to
prevent overfluxing the generator.
