STATEMENT OF PURPOSE

My aspiration for masters in Computer Science is to prepare myself for research-oriented learning and it will also be a
stepping stone of my contribution to the industry. Having thirteen months of IT industry experience in the field of data sciences I
want to utilize the knowledge and experience what I gained during my job by doing research in those fields. I have a profound
interest in the areas that require a good analytical approach. For me computer science is not just about solving the problem, it’s
also how different people think to arrive at solutions, what they can bring to the table in terms of personality and perspective. As
my long-term goal is to be an entrepreneur in the field of data science, I feel that I require an extensive knowledge advancement
which the university offers. Using the experience gained in the masters I would like to work in companies that support research
and entrepreneurial interests. In the future, with experiences from Masters and the job, I shall pursue my goal to be an
entrepreneur.

The programming languages and quantitative aptitude that I have learned and practiced during my undergraduate studies
at the Computer Science and Engineering Department of Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, Hyderabad, increased my
analytical ability to think and come up with an organized solution which placed me as a software engineer in an MNC. After
working on Hadoop and MarkLogic technologies for loading huge volumes of data, deriving the solutions from that data I can
correlate the theoretical and practical knowledge which I had gained in my under graduation. The present scenario of how the
advancements and innovations in the field of computer science can provide creative IT solutions to organizations has motivated
me to expand my purview of knowledge by doing more research in the field of Computer Science in general and in the field of
Data Warehousing and Big-data ecosystem in particular. By knowing how NoSQL databases and Business Intelligence reporting
tools help many organizations in providing data-driven solutions which impact the business needs, I would like to explore
emerging fields like big data analytics. Bringing together my learning and knowledge, I would like to attend the graduate
program at your university to obtain professionalism and progressive learning in my areas of interest and in subjects like
Algorithms and Data Structures.

During my under graduation, I was determined to focus on Big-data Technology during my Final Year project, and I
selected to do the project on Hadoop at National Informatics Center (NIC), Hyderabad a prime builder of e-Governance websites,
as it had a prominent infrastructure setup and exciting, world-class research facilities. This gave me a chance to work with a few
of the best engineering research dedicated individuals in my state. I learned so much from this organization, in particular, an idea
of how significant and rewarding the career of a researcher can be. It’s a huge learning curve for me on topics of storage and
analysis of huge data sets using MapReduce concepts. Sometimes I used to spend my entire day at NIC, reading research papers
and troubleshooting and configuring the MapReduce programs in Hadoop on Linux. Miss. Swathi, my project guide, deemed the
results of my project are most valuable. We analyzed the log files in different computers at NIC and made a report of the highly
accessed patterns and keywords to discover the knowledge. This project was the high spot of my academic career.

I don’t believe every booming technology is a breakthrough, but some truly do have the adequacy to change our view
on technology, developing an IOT based product in my third year of my under graduation at JNTUH I gained a sound knowledge
of the Internet of things (IoT), and the functioning of multiple types of IoT devices like GPS sensor, ZigBee modules, Arduino
board, Raspberry Pi, etc. I lead a cluster of nine members including me divided into three members in each team and my team
project was Kid Safeguard which will protect the kids from restricted places in the home. As it was a part of "EXCITE 2016
Summer Product Engineering Workshop" in collaboration with TASK (Telangana Academy for Skill and Knowledge), HYSEA
(Hyderabad Software Enterprises Association). The strong hands-on experience has given me a good acquaintance of the
immense potential of technology which not only helps to solve our technical disputes but also enhances our everyday lives. To
get insight from those huge data sets generated by those IoT devices I require an innovative approach to bring research ideas to
life, I will need an adequate problem-solving approach and a competitive atmosphere that will help sharpen my intuition in
research. A graduate degree with a thesis will help me gain these skills, and I hope research area at The University of Southern
Mississippi would help me understand the latest methodologies in Computer Science and how it can be implemented in overall
product development.
 I have participated in workshops conducted in our college which includes CYBER SECURITY & MALWARE
ANALYSIS where I can know how to secure details from the spammers around us and to build a firewall for our data. I have
attended a workshop on ANDROID APPLICATION DEVELOPMENT where I could cope up with the modern technologies and
understanding the market strategies for the success of an application. I have also participated in BIG DATA ANALYTICS
workshop which made to understand the processing of the huge amount of data sets. I also participated in the Intensive Industry
Training Camp conducted by Swecha.org on Linux Internals, Python and Open-Hardware. I have participated in the technical
quiz, paper presentation, debating contest in ‘AAVISHKRUTH’- A National Level Technical Symposium in our college. I am
also a member of campaigning team for advertising and campaigning for many colleges. I have been an active participant in the
UDEMY online teaching academy and have completed a couple of courses on the present day technologies like Hadoop,
JavaScript, Big data analytics, Cyber Security, Cloud Computing with a valid Licensed certificate. I am also the captain of the
university-level Basketball team and stood as runner-up in the Inter-University sports (SMAARYA) held at JNTUHCEM in
2016, I have also participated from my college in NSS (National Service Scheme) campaign which is an Indian government-
sponsored public service program where we did one week of skill enhancement training for future professionals, I also worked as
a teaching assistant for juniors in C, Java. The teaching experience has benefited me to interact and communicate efficaciously
and coherently with the diversity of peers.

In selecting the University of Southern Mississippi, I have been impressed by the way how your research programs
address the real-time problems and its outstanding faculty, emphasis on collaborative learning environment. It facilitates
combining of research and teaching capabilities for the needs and resources of the industry. The admiring environment offered by
the university that builds up artfulness, diversity, interdisciplinary teaming and honorable behavior to advance learning and
practice in various technologies. I am also enthusiastic to get in touch with Assistant Professor Kala who presented an article on
“A Supervised Classification Method for Levee Slide Detection Using Complex Synthetic Aperture Radar Imagery” I am very
excited to know how a distance classification algorithm used in the detection of slough slides on levees using complex
polarimetric Synthetic Aperture Radar (polSAR) data and also Associate Professor Bikramjit Banerjee, whose research work on
Machine Learning and Distributed Artificial Intelligence which is close to what I want to pursue in the research component of the
MS degree in Computer Science. The diversified culture offered by the university increases my global perspective in all the
aspects of the study.

Compiling all information mentioned above, I believe that my motive for study, my certifications, projects, experience
and strong academic qualification in various fields of Computer Science will be beneficial for my graduate studies and research. I
would regard my admission to the University of Southern Mississippi not only as an esteemed opportunity but also as a great
responsibility to prove myself. I would be thankful to you if I am granted the opportunity to pursue my masters with financial
