a. Organize files; and
b. Create a folder
III. Lesson Content
File Management
To manage your files and folders and make it a valuable resource is file management. It describes the basic
method for the following:
 Using appropriate file name.
 Keeping your files in a folder. Organizing your files.
 Handling your files. Locating your files needed to work on.
 Backing up your file.

In your computer, your data are kept in directories and subdirectories. Computer organizes your files depending on
how you name, arrange, and handle your files and folders. Proper file management will help you find your files and back
up important projects easily, making your valued documents protected and safe.
File Management Technique
 Group your files according to content
- Documents
-Pictures
-Video
 Group your files by date, subject matter, or project name
 Arrange your data structure

Example:

CREATE AND NAME A FOLDER

You can create as many folders as you can to help you manage your files. You can also name, rename, and
organize them accordingly. Folders grouped together are called Directories. Folders placed inside a folder is called
subfolder.

Name them accordingly and keep them organized. Folders grouped together are known as Directories. Folders

To create and name a folder:


 Go to a location where you want to create a folder.
 Right-click File tab - New - Folder
 The new folder that you have created appears on the location you specified. It is highlighted in blue surrounded
by an Edit box. This New Folder can be renamed and edited.

CLOUD COMPUTING
Cloud Computing is the exercise of using remote server over the Internet to save, back up, manage, and process
files rather than your own personal computer. It has the ability of being accessed anywhere, anytime as long as there is a
computer with Internet connection.

Advantages of using a Cloud Storage System


 Convenient- Files are in the cloud and can be accessed through a computer with Internet connection. You don't
have to bring storage devices like flash drive, external hard drive or disc. Virus is not a threat because cloud scans
the file before uploading and downloading it.
 Easy to share- Just click the folder and type the email address of the person you want to share the files with. Data
are safe. Your files are stored on a server that is safe. A password is used to protect personal files and it can only
be seen by people you authorized to access your files.

CLOUD STORAGE SERVICE


 Dropbox is the most popular cloud storage service. It is free. You need to
share it to increase your storage capacity. It can be accessed through a
desktop and mobile device. An email account is needed to access the files.

 Google Drive is a file storage provided by Google. It has a real-time


collaborative editing, file sharing and cloud storage features. A Gmail account is
needed to access the files.

 One Drive (formerly Sky Drive and Windows Live Folders) allows users to
upload and sync files to a cloud storage to be accessed from a Web browser. A
Microsoft account is needed to access the files.

Direction Perform the following Hands-on Activities.

A. Create a Directory Folder on your Desktop.
-Name your folder using this format, “your surname_grade_section”

B. Create a subfolder with the following format as their folder name


-yoursurname_MSWordproject

- yoursurname_MSPowerPointproject
- yoursurname_MSPublisherproject
