SECTORS OF A CIRCLE
I. What Happened
Provide the students with the opportunity to demonstrate
what they learned and what they remember on secants,
tangents, segments, and sectors of a circle.
2
OBJECTIVES
K: Identifies the secants, tangents, segments, and sector of a circle
S: Illustrates the secants, tangents, segments, and sector of a circle.
A: Demonstrates perseverance in illustrating secants, tangents,
segments, and sectors of a circle.
LEARNING COMPETENCY:
Illustrates secants, tangents, segments, and sectors of a circle.

I. WHAT HAPPENED
PRE-ACTIVITIES/PRE-TEST:
3
B. Use the figure below to identify and name the following
terms related to ʘ A.
a. radius
b. diameter
c. chord
d. 2 semicircles
e. 2 minor arcs
f. 2 central angles
4
In the second figure at the right, line QX intersects circle O
at point P as point of tangency. Thus, line QX is called tangent
line.
Any tangent line to the circle is always perpendicular to
the radius containing the point of tangency.

III. WHAT HAVE I LEARNED Line m
EVALUATION/POST TEST:
A. Multiple Choice. Choose only the letter that corresponds to your
choice. Write your answer on your notebook.
1. It is the intersection of a tangent line and a circle.
a. point of intersection c. point of boundary
b. point of tangency d. point of reference
2. The region bounded by an arc of the circle and two radii to the
endpoints of the arc.
a. segment c. tangent line
b. secant line d. sector
3. A line that intersects the circle at two points.
a. segment c. tangent line
b. secant line d. sector
4. The region bounded by an arc of a circle and the segments
joining its endpoints.
a. chord c. segment
b. sector d. tangent
5. A line that intersects the circle at exactly one point.
a. tangent c. secant
b. diameter d. chord
6. A Latin word for secant which means to cut.
a. tecare c. becare
b. secare d. decare
6
B. Illustrate the following. (Use coins/ circular caps from mineral
bottled water in making a circle; use ruler in making lines; and
crayons for bounded region of segment and sector). Use short
size bond paper.

SYNOPSIS
The self-learning kit is all
about illustrating secants,
tangents, segments, and
sectors of a circle.
It contains activities
provided for students on
how they will be able to
identify some parts of the
circle, which connect in
identifying and illustrating
secants, tangents,
segments, and sectors of a
circle.
