Duties and Responsibilities of the Pharmacist:

 Dispenses medication, Interprets prescription orders and provide information and advice
regarding drug interactions, side effects, dosage, and proper medication storage.
 Recommend OTC devices or medication options to help mitigate individual symptoms to
patients.
 Maintain records, such as pharmacy files, prescription, patient profiles, charge system
files, inventories, and registries of controlled drugs.
 Collaborate with other health care professionals to plan, monitor, review, or evaluate the
quality or effectiveness of drugs or drug regimens, providing advice on drug applications
or characteristics.
 Responsible for ordering and purchasing of pharmaceutical supplies and drugs
 Maintenance of stocks, storing and proper handling
 Compliance with drug laws as regulated by the Board of Pharmacy, the Drug
Enforcement Agency and by the Food and Drugs Administration.

Duties and Responsibilities of the Pharmacy Assistant:

 The Pharmacy Assistant is responsible for performing over-the-counter selling of drugs


and health care products through knowledgeable, courteous, friendly, and efficient
customer service in order to meet set profit plans.
 Dispenses medicine under the supervision of the Pharmacist.
 Looks after stocks positioning:
a. Monitors availability of merchandise.
b. Refills and displays stocks.
c. Reports out-of-stock/critical stock merchandise to the Pharmacist.
 Practices good housekeeping.
a. Displays merchandise according to therapeutic use.
b. Monitors expiration dates.
c. Cleans stocks.
d. Practices “first it, first out” (FIFO) method in dispensing.
 Secures merchandise.
