    1 SCOPE
    This specification defines the supplier’s requirements for the design, fabrication, assembly,
    materials, testing, inspection, certification and preparation for shipment of the following
    equipment, complete with necessary auxiliaries and controls, as applicable:
     Drawworks
    The equipment will be installed as part of a 3000 hp Offshore Gulf of Mexico Platform Rig.

    2 GENERAL
    2.1 REGULATORY COMPLIANCE
    The following documents and standards shall be used in the design and certification of the
    drawworks, and related components, as applicable.
     API 7K, Drilling and Well Servicing Equipment, current edition.
     API 8C, Specification for Drilling and Production Hoisting Equipment, current edition.
     API 9A, Specification for Wire Rope, current edition.
     API RP 500, Recommended Practice for Classification of Locations for Electrical Installations
    at Petroleum Facilities Classified as Class 1, Division 1 and Division 2, current edition.
    In the event that multiple codes cover a design standard, the more conservative of the two will be
    used.

    3 DESIGN
    3.1 SPECIFIC TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS
    3.1.1 Drawworks
    a. Nameplate Power Rating: 3,000 HP continuous duty.
    b. Hook Load: 1,500 kips (6670 kN)
    c. Number of Lines: 14
    d. Wire-Rope Diameter: 1-¾ in. (45mm)
    e. Drum capacity: sufficient for use with a 157 ft. clear height mast and not to exceed the
    fourth drum layer.
    f. Motor, main drive:
    a. Three Phase AC, VFD Driven, 600 Volt, with stainless steel connection box with plug
    connections.
    b. Number of Motors: Two (2) or three (3) per manufacturer’s recommendation.

    g. All accessory motors to be 460 VAC, 60 Hz.


    h. Hazardous Area Rating: Class 1, Division 1.
    i. Braking
    a. Full regenerative braking using the AC drive motors.
    b. Failsafe (spring applied, hydraulically released) disk brakes for emergency and
    parking.
    c. Pneumatic system (Crown-O-Matic) - position of the drilling line activates the brake
    to prevent collision with the crown.
    j. Transmission type: Gear
    k. Skid
    a. Designed with lifting lugs, suitable for offshore crane installation
    l. Service
    a. Outdoor
    b. Temperature: -4°F to 122°F (-20°C to 50°C)

    4 COATING
    All exterior and interior steel surfaces of the equipment shall be properly cleaned and provided
    with a rust-inhibiting coating. All external surfaces shall be painted using a three (3) coat offshore
    system. Color to be advised.
