    Workshop Report

    Fashion styling and Makeup techniques


    A one day workshop was held on 27 th March, 2019 by
    Amity School of Fashion design and Technology.
    Conducted by Mr Rohit Chauhan who is a renowned
    fashion stylist, makeup artist as well fashion
    choreographer by profession from New Delhi. He have
    worked for many established fashion designers and a
    number of Bollywood celebrities.

    In the following session he told the students about the


    five types of styling and their purpose and spectrum,
    namely editorial styling, personal styling, catalogue
    styling, commercial styling and fashion show styling. He
    described to students that the key to keep being stylish is
    to be trend updated and confident. Nothing is as
    appealing to viewer as confidence and one should be
    comfortable in their own skin.

    Later half of the workshop commenced with makeup techniques, after


    describing the kinds as no makeup, day makeup, bridal makeup, night makeup
    and high fashion or houte couture makeup he went on describing their end use
    and how to generate most impact with these makeup looks. He described the
    basic seven steps for creating a look and how by varying the quantities you can
    create the above mentioned looks. As eyes are the most important feature of a
    person’s face he further described the various type makeup techniques as cut
    crease, Arabic eye, hollow eye etc and pearl makeup for males.
    Mr Chauhan suggested about hair styles, makeup looks and colours suitable for
    different skin tones. As makeup is a
    superficial component, he further
    discussed the importance of
    cleansing the skin and hygiene
    routine to be followed after and
    during makeup removal.

    Students gained insight of a new


    rapidly increasing fashion styling
    sector and how to be a stylist. The workshop provided them opportunity to
    know the styling market up close and with great detail which will be beneficial
    in respect to their career choices.
