I t’s been 35 years since Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) has established itself as a sole service provider of
electricity in the country. It has been a relentless journey with the clear objective of satisfying our consumers
by providing high quality service and serving for prosperity of our country.
Distribution and Consumer Services Directorate (DCSD) is the face of NEA and the work ethic put forward by
all the staffs of this directorate has been remarkable in the last year. I would like to recognize and appreciate
the contribution of all the staffs who sincerely put forth the diligent effort at all situations in elevating the
performance of this directorate. Even at this hard time when the whole nation is affected by the outbreak of
Corona virus, the staffs are giving all their effort so that the electricity can be distributed as per our commitments
and this facet of our determination is exemplary.
Each New Year brings new challenges that we all should be prepared to overcome with the renewed energy.
We should always be ready to work at difficult situations and deliver the better results. Load shedding has
been the thing of past and now our focus is providing efficient and effective service to the consumers. NEA
is working hard to fulfill the national goal of “Electricity for All” within the next two and half years and
also striving to increase the per capita consumption of electricity. DCSD has always worked hard to reduce
electricity loss and it is expected to maintain the tedious task of gaining good results in all sectors in coming
year as well.
I am delighted that Distribution and Consumer Services Directorate as usual is publishing its annual magazine
on the occasion of NEA’s 35th anniversary. This publication demonstrates the real status of the country’s
distribution system and performance appraisal of the year gone by. It will help us do better in future.
Lastly, I would like to congratulate DCSD for the successful last year and wish more success in coming years.

MESSAGE FROM THE
DEPUTY MANAGING DIRECTOR
O n the occasion of NEA’s 35th anniversary, I am proud to present the annual report of the activities that
were undertaken by Distribution and Consumer Services Directorate (DCSD) in the last FY 2076/077.
This report illustrates the overall scenario of distribution system in Nepal and the work done by the directorate
in last FY to achieve the national goal of “Electricity for All”.
We had a challenging FY 2076/077 especially with the outbreak of corona virus in the last quarter of the year.
In spite of this pandemic, DCSD put forward all the efforts that helped us in achieving remarkable financial
and technical improvements. DCSD is the hub of NEA where consumers get attached with the organization.
Therefore we have the utmost responsibility of satisfying the consumers by providing efficient & effective
service as well as collect revenues from them for sustainability & progression of NEA. In last fiscal year, we
added 404.76 km of 33 kV line, 5119.21 km of 11 kV feeder and 15168.3 km of 400/230 V distribution line and 9
no of 33/11 kV substations in the distribution system which made it possible for the electrification percentage
to rise to 86.44% from 78.82%. Considering revenue, we saw a growth of 12.42% in revenue compared to
previous fiscal year. At the same time, we were able to bring down the distribution losses to 10.28% from
11.28%. To fully electrify the nation within next Two FY as per the Nepal Government Policy, the electrification
work has been already been started in various rural areas.
DCSD has many challenges moving towards the new fiscal year. There are challenges to extend the reach of
grid provided electricity to all parts of the country by next two years and to increase the per capita consumption
to 700 units by next four years. We are always striving to provide reliable and quality electricity for all. We
have ended FY 2076/077 on a high note and are determined to carry the merry way forward in achieving
higher goals in FY 2077/078.
Lastly, I extend my heartful thanks to DCSD team for their hard work and achievements. I wish them success
for the future endeavors.
