Directions: Based on the pictures, answer the succeeding questions on your answer

A. Last Flight by Alfredo + Isabel Aquilizan (2009)

1. Describe the artwork.


● The work "Be-longing: in transit (2007)" is a document of the artist and their
children relocation from Philippines to Australia. The work consist of personal
belongings of the family arranged in numerous cubes or box formation. Clothing,
books and toys compose the piles which evolve from a practical organisation of
personal effects for travel to a detached minimal structure gallery.
2. What is the subject matter of the artwork? What does it want to express?
● The subject matter is about migration, family and cultural displacement created
with mixed media works out of collected and reassembled materials. The work
speaks of displacement and the personal traumas the children endured as they
made their selections of what to bring and what to leave behind on their journey
to a new life, people and surroundings.
3. What materials were used?
● The artwork is composed of personal belongings such as Clothing, toys and
books.

B. Yolanda Anniversary by Nicolas Aca, Jr. (2014), Performance Art

1. Describe the artwork.


● Artist Nicolas Aca embraced the other performers after their heart-rending
performance in front of the Magsaysay Park in Cagayan de Oro Saturday on the
first anniversary of typhoon Yolanda that ravaged the Visayas. Aca and the
artists who were mostly students covered their entire bodies with brown dirt from
nearby Iponan River to portray what typhoon victims in Tacloban City in Leyte
could have looked like a year ago after Yolanda struck and devastated their city.
He said many of the artists were themselves victims of tropical storm Sendong
that inundated the villages beside Cagayan de Oro River on December 17, 2011.
2. What is the subject matter of the artwork? What does it want to express?
● The subject matter of the artwork is about the victims of a typhoon yolanda. It
expresses what they have gone through when the typhoon ravaged their city.

3. What materials were used?


● Material used are plain shirts and shorts that is covered with brown dirts or muds.
