LESSON 1 - HEALTH INFORMATION SYSTEM
Narrative Report on HIS in the Philippines
Instructions: Research and name three (3) Health Information Systems that are being used in
the Philippines. Among the three, choose one and submit a narrative report on the history,
market share, and main features of the system. (300 words or less)
The three Health Information Systems that are being used in the Philippines are listed below
and they are included in the List of Validated EMRs for Hospitals Statistics.
1. Bizbox Incorporated wherein its system name is Bizbox Hospital Systems and validated
on October 21, 2019. In addition, Bizbox is one of the few Philhealth accredited Health
Information Technology Providers (HITP) in the Philippines that covers 'Philheath Online
Verification of Eligibility' and E-claims submission system of Philhealth. It reduces the
processing time, resulting in a faster remittance to the health facility, and saving you from
the long process of claiming Philhealth benefits.
2. The company KCCI – Medsys with the system name Medsys and validated on January
16, 2020. In addition, MedSys Information System is designed and developed by
Kaiser/dela Cruz Consulting, Inc. It is the only fully integrated computerized system that
has been successfully installed in a number of leading hospitals and industrial clinics in
the Philippines. Visual MedSys is designed tobring together the whole hospital & clinic
operating process from registration to discharge, encompassing both clinical and financial
operations records.
3. The company of New Comlogik Business System with the system name Comlogik and
validated on September 16, 2019.
Among the three Health Information Systems, I will choose the Comlogik system.
Comlogik Business Systems, Inc. that is a Philippine based software development

company that established its operation in the year 1999 with a vision to be a Global Technology.
In line with this, I’ve read in an article and stated that Comlogik is the 1st Independent Software
Provider to be Certified and Validated by DOH. Aside from the standard features, Comlogik EMR
includes healthcare analytics complete with dashboards for a more advance and creative visuals.
In addition, it is PhilHealth Certified eClaims Provider wherein in features includes the ‘Eligibility
Web Service’ to access patients’ contributions, Claims Verification and CF4 module. In addition,
one of its main features is the Online PF Entry and Monitoring wherein they don’t need for the
doctors to call or go to the billing department to key in their Professional Fees. Another one is the
Multi-Warehouse Inventory Management that eliminates manual data entry, paper files, and forms
by automating records and other documents that determine how and where medical inventory is
received, stored, and used. It has a lot of features and those are Expiry & Reorder Alerts, Patient
Satisfaction Survey System, Reagents and Supplies Tracker, Delta Check, Arrears Notification &
Alert and the meaningful feature which is the Nurse Kardex because the patients’ medical
information are entered by the nursing staff are stored and shared. It includes diagnoses,
commitment information, information about the gatekeeper and legal guardian, diet information,
and other information that can be used by the Doctors as an easy reference rather than looking
in the chart. Lastly, I’ve had so much time to search for their market shares but unluckily, I didn’t
get an information, instead, it stated that ComLogik Partners receive greater percentage discounts
on their software purchases than do resellers of other practice management software systems.
Their retail prices are below those of comparable systems, making the HIMS very attractive to
healthcare providers. Additional value-added revenue services include installation, training and
support.
