1.6 Safety information and protective measures


CAUTION • Ensure compliance with the following when performing the
steps and tests described in this document:
- the product-specific safety information in this document
- the safety information in RA0-000.012.40...
- the general safety information contained in the ARTD, part 2.
• Disconnect the line voltage connector before working on
SIREMOBIL Compact.
• Ensure compliance with the general safety requirements when
working on the system under power.
• Ensure compliance with ESD guidelines.
• Switch off the SIREMOBIL Compact.
• Perform the protective conductor test according to ARTD-
002.731.17 upon completion of the work and after all covers have
been reattached.
• The protective conductor resistance must not exceed 0.2 Ohms.
- Measure and record the equivalent leakage current when work-
ing with the ON/OFF assembly (i.e. replacing the
ON/OFF assembly or the line voltage cable).

Inspect the entire system for external damage, such as damage to the housing or paint.

3 Safety inspection

3.1 Mechanical safety


SIM Covers
• Remove the covers from the SIREMOBIL Compact stand and monitor trolley.
• Inspect the covers for mechanical damage.
SIM Cable deflecters
• Inspect the cable deflecters on the SIREMOBIL Compact stand and on the monitor
trolley. Replace if necessary.
SIM I.I. laser light localizer mechanics (if present)
• Inspect the I.I. laser light localizer for mechanical damage.
• Install the laser light localizer on the I.I. Ensure that it locks into place properly.
Pay special attention to the steel tension band and its closure.
• Inspect the I.I. ring for damage.
SIM I.I. laser light localizer function (if present)
• Perform the maintenance steps specified for the laser light localizer
according to the Installation and setting instructions RXR2-130.033.03.. .
SIM Laser light localizer mechanics (if present)
• Inspect the I.I. cap with built in lead cross for mechanical damage.
• Install the I.I. cap with built in lead cross. Ensure that it locks into place properly.
• Inspect the I.I. ring for damage.
SIM Laser light localizer function (if present)
• Perform the maintenance steps specified
according to the Adjustment instructions RXR2-130.032.01.. .
SIM Foot brakes
• Test the function of the foot brakes on the SIREMOBIL Compact stand and monitor
trolley on a level floor.
SIM Brakes
• Use the spring scale to test whether the orbital, angulation, swivel, horizontal movement,
and vertical movement brakes apply the prescribed force.
(Refer to Service Instructions SIREMOBIL Compact)
SIM C-Arm
• Perform all C-arm movements, checking for slackness of the bearings and bearing
noises.
SIM Wheels and steering
• Move the SIREMOBIL Compact in a straight line on the floor.
• Evaluate whether the SIREMOBIL Compact moves straight and quietly.
• Replace any defective wheels.

SIM Lifting column

CAUTION Remove all additional items from the C-arm, e.g. lead aprons, etc.,
before performing these tests and settings.

• Switch on the system


• Electrically raise and lower the lifting column, going through the entire movement range.
- Listen for noises and check for play in the bearings.
- The lifting column movement must switch off automatically when the end positions are
reached.
- When the SIREMOBIL Compact L is lowered, a stop signal sounds and the lifting
column does not move. The signal will sound again if you press the down key again
and continue lowering the column.
- The lifting column must remain stationary when both direction keys are pressed
simultaneously.
• Activate the emergency off switch.
- Motorized vertical movement is blocked.
• Unlock the emergency off switch. For this purpose, press down lightly and turn button
counterclockwise.
• Switch off the system
• Lubricate the lifting column
- Raise the lifting column approximately 50 cm to facilitate lubrication.
- Remove the plastic cap, which has become visible, from the connector.
- Add approx. 2 cm3 of the special oil to the visible funnel.

SIM Cassette holder (if present)


• Test the cassette holder for mechanical damage.
• Install the cassette holder on the I.I. Ensure that it locks into place properly.
SIM Warning labels
• Ensure that all required warning labels are attached and in good condition.
- Replace any labels that are difficult to read.
SIM ID labels
• Ensure that all required ID labels are attached and in good condition.
- Replace any labels that are difficult to read.
SIM Monitor(s)
• Check monitor(s) for damage.
• Ensure that monitor(s) are correctly mounted to the monitor trolley.
• Inspect additional monitors for damage and ensure that they are correctly mounted to
the wall console / monitor carrier system (if applicable).

3.2 Electrical safety


SIE Cable and Connectors
• Inspect all system cables and connectors for damage.
SIE Fluoroscopy timer
• Inspection: refer to Required radiation switch off.
SIE Audible warning signal
• Inspection: refer to Required radiation switch off.
SIE Required radiation switch off
• Switch on the system
• Test the function of the audible warning signal and required radiation switch off (if
required) according to the country-specific regulations. Test the function of the
fluoroscopy counter.

NOTICE Depending on how the system is programmed, the audible warn-


ing signal should sound after 4.5, 5 or 9.5 minutes of fluoroscopy.
Subsequently, this signal will sound again every 5 (or 10) min-
utes. It can be switched off by pressing the -0- key.
Pressing this key again will reset the fluoroscopy timer to "0".
Depending on the country-specific programming, either the
required radiation switch off will not occur, or it will occur after 5
(or 10) minutes and subsequently every 5 (or 10) minutes.

SIE Testing the radiation release switches


• Test the function of the handswitch and footswitch for releasing radiation.
• Inspect the cables for the radiation release switches for mechanical damage.
• Move the cables and inspect them for breakage.
SIE Radiation ON indicators
• Release fluoro briefly.
➪ The radiation ON indicators on the control panel of the SIREMOBIL Compact
stand
and on the monitor trolley must light up.
• Switch off the system.
SIE Iris collimator
• Test the iris collimator and adjust it, if necessary.
- Select the full I.I. format and release fluoroscopy briefly.
- The collimator blades must be clearly visible at the edges of the image.
- Select a zoom format and release fluoroscopy briefly.
- The collimator blades must be clearly visible at the edges of the image.
SIE Conductive rubber
• Inspect the SIREMOBIL Compact stand and monitor trolley for damage or dirt.
If necessary, clean or replace.

SIE Protective conductor test
• Measure the protective conductor with the protective conductor meter according to
ARTD-002.731.17.

NOTICE The protective conductor test is part of the safety inspection,


however, it cannot be performed until all work has been com-
pleted. Refer to Final Steps.

SIE Equivalent leakage voltage


• In countries where DIN VDE 0751 applies, measure the equivalent leakage voltage
using the equivalent leakage voltage meter according to ARTD-002.731.17.
• Record the results.

NOTICE In countries where DIN VDE 0751 does not apply, ensure
compliance with ARTD-002.731.17.

4.1 Maintenance
PMP Cleaning the system
• Clean the entire system:
- Visible cables
- Exterior surfaces
- Contact surface of wheels
- Internal spaces
PMP System ventilation
• Clean the ventilation slots on the SIREMOBIL Compact basic system and monitor
trolley.
PMP Memoskop ventilation
• Clean the ventilation slots on the Memoskop.
• Check that the fan is functioning properly.

4.2 Operating values inspection


SIE Dose rate
• Switch on the system.
• Test the dose rate (refer to the Service Instructions SIREMOBIL Compact).
PMF Error memory
• Read out the error memory of the SIREMOBIL Compact and evaluate.

4.3 Function inspection


SIE Monitor
• Test the Simomed N monitor according to the checklist.
• Check luminance of standard 100/120 Hz monitor.

SIE Cassette exposure collimation (if present)
• Test the cassette exposure collimation and adjust, if necessary.
- Attach the cassette holder with cassette and film to the I.I.
- The iris collimator opens completely when the cassette is inserted.
- In the exposure data field, the mA indicator changes into the mAs indicator and the
operating display goes out.
- Release an exposure using approximately 40 KV and 5 mAS and develop the film. The
edges of the collimator should appear parallel to the edges of the film and should be
visible at all four sides of the film.
- The iris collimator will move to the size set previously under fluoroscopy when the iris
collimator keys are pressed simultaneously.
• Adjustment:
- Refer to the Service Instructions, Chapter 5, "Setting the cassette exposure
collimation".
SIE Area dose product measurement device (if present)
• Test the function of the area dose product measurement device.
(Refer to Service Instructions SIREMOBIL Compact)
PMF Video recorder (if present)
• Check the video recorder function.
PMF Laser camera system “Sneaker Net” (if present)
• Check the function of the “Sneaker Net” laser camera system.
PMF DICOM Bridge (if present)
• Check the function of the Dicom Bridge.
PMF DICOM Connect (if present)
• Check the function of the DICOM Connect network connection.
PMF 4 View (if present)
• Check the connections for damage.
• Check the function of the 4 View monitor expansions.
• Check the function of the additional monitors and the additional keyboard (if present).
PMF Laser camera connection (if present)
• Check the function of the laser camera connection.
PMF Testing the operating functions
• Test all operating functions of the system.

• Select I.I. survey format.
• Close the radiation iris (X-Iris) completely.
• Mark the diameter of the aperture displayed on the monitor.
• Release fluoro briefly.
The actual diameter of the X-Iris is now visible.
The position and diameter of the iris aperture previously displayed must correspond to
the actual X-Iris aperture.
• Open the radiation iris (X-Iris) to maximum aperture.
• Mark the diameter of the aperture displayed on the monitor.
• Release fluoro briefly.
The actual diameter of the X-Iris is now visible.
The position and diameter of the iris aperture previously displayed on the monitor must
correspond to the actual X-Iris aperture.
• Select I.I. zoom format.
• Close the radiation iris (X-iris) completely.
• Mark the diameter of the aperture displayed on the monitor.
• Release fluoro briefly.
The actual diameter of the X-Iris is now visible.
The position and diameter of the iris aperture previously displayed on the monitor must
correspond to the actual X-Iris aperture.

• Select I.I. survey format.
• Close the slot diaphragm completely and rotate it from the basic setting.
• Mark the distance and angle of the diaphragm positions displayed on the monitor.
• Release fluoro briefly.
The actual position (distance and angle of the blades) of the slot diaphragm is now
visible.
The position and angle of the previously displayed diaphragm settings must correspond
to the actual diaphragm settings.
• Open the slot diaphragm completely and rotate it again.
• Mark the distance and angle of the diaphragm positions displayed on the monitor.
• Release fluoro briefly.
The actual position (distance and angle of the blades) of the slot diaphragm is now
visible.
The position and angle of the previously displayed diaphragm settings must correspond
to the actual diaphragm settings.
• Select I.I. zoom format.
• Close the slot diaphragm completely and rotate it from the basic setting.
• Mark the distance and angle of the slot diaphragm settings displayed on the monitor.
• Release fluoro briefly.
The actual position (distance and angle of the blades) of the slot diaphragm is now
visible.
• The position and angle of the previously displayed diaphragm settings must correspond
to the actual diaphragm settings.
• Open the slot diaphragm completely and rotate it again.
• Mark the distance and angle of the diaphragm positions displayed on the monitor.
• Release fluoro briefly.
The actual position (distance and angle of the blades) of the slot diaphragm is now
visible.
The position and angle of the previously displayed diaphragm settings must correspond
to the actual diaphragm settings.

NOTICE Perform this test with the lowest possible kV values, so that the
front edges of the slot diaphragm blades are imaged clearly.

• Perform the Image Quality Quick Test according to the Image Quality Quick Test
Instructions SIREMOBIL Compact.
Also test additional monitors (if present).

• Complete system: touch up any paint damage as needed.
