    Lesson Plan

    Subject: Computer

    Topic: Computer Network

    Grade level: 8th

    Instructional objectives: To make the student know the concept of computer network and
    understand its uses in various fields.

    Rationale: Computer networks have very important role in development of modern


    technologies in the area of communication i.e. internet, mobile communication,
    telecommunication. Student should know the basic structure and function of computer
    network to understand broader concepts of network communication.

    Resources: Whiteboard, marker, a small piece of net, roll of thread

    Procedure:

    1. The teacher will start with the roles of different players and the captain in a football
    match. Students will be asked to identify different roles of player and need of the
    captain to manage all players.
    2. When students recall the teamwork between different players in a match, they will be
    introduced that computers can also work in such environment, which is called
    Computer network.
    3. As a team plays in coordination with each other, communicate with each other and
    share some tasks of others to accomplish a goal, a computer network has the similar
    function.
    4. A computer network is the arrangement of two or more computer connected through
    medium where they can communicate, send/receive data to each other and share
    devices with each other.
    5. The piece of net and its knots will be explained to the students to clarify the concept
    of computer network. Thread will be used to add more knots and clusters in the
    network to explaine the ability of a network to add/remove computers.
    6. Students will be asked to identify different types of network existing in real life like
    Television networks, Cable network, mobile phone network, internet etc.
    7. To encourage students, some hints can be provided to the students.
    8. Finally the students will be taught about the effectiveness of teamwork and
    collaboration which is achieved through use of computer networks.

    Assignment or Homework:

    Students will be asked to find and draw network structures according to their understanding.
    Any type of network can be drawn like electric wiring, sanitary wiring, supply network.

    (This assignment will be helpful to teach next lessons of different computer network types
    and structures.)
