ON THE COVER

Egle paints a stylized teapot and teacup, each with matching floral
designs, along with a similar motif of branches emerging from
the pot itself. The tea is reflective enough that it hides its nature;
it could be any tea from this supplement, or an even stranger
tea, still.

V ersion 1.0
Disclaimer: Tea is best enjoyed under specific conditions, such as a beautiful rainy day, fine company, a book, a cat or three, and small appetising sandwiches. It is also easiest to enjoy tea when you have the time to enjoy it
properly, and while not under duress from dragons, the undead, owlbears, and the like. While it certainly is possible to down your tea hastily in a single gulp, in the midst of combat, to gain the medicinal benefit of the herbs
used in its concoction, it is not recommended. One may die to, for example, a perfidioius lich, but that is certainly a better fate than facing its withering judgment at lacking the culture to enjoy your beverage properly.

S ettings and A vailability

Most teas included here are associated with a particular setting.
Canonically, this is the world that they are from, and many teas
play an important role in that setting’s culture and history.
This need not be a limit on where you can find or enjoy a tea,
however. Teas from the Forgotten Realms can easily be varieties
of tal found in Eberron, or can simply be as they already are in
any other setting, with names of locations swapped out.
Conversely, your DM may decide to limit available teas to
appropriate settings, or to even further limit access to specific
teas unless you are in the location within a setting that such

teas would be naturally available. This choice may be more

suited to heavily realistic campaigns, or areas of the world in
which merchants would be less active.

Cocoa. Found growing wild in Maztica, this bitter

with cream or spices. Popular among the nobility
of Calimshan, cocoa is often considered a drink for
wealthy lovers.
Dathlil. This tea made from small, white ground flow-
ers has a light, grassy, and very floral taste. It is also a
potent counteragent against most poisons, though it can
be unpredictable if not properly brewed. A creature that
drinks dathlil tea suppresses the poisoned condition, if
afflicted by it, for 1 hour.

aroma. Drinking this tea refreshes you and loosens your

has a prickly taste favored by few.
Instead, it is of repute amongst the
wealthy as a form of birth control.
Creatures that drink a cup of cassil
are incapable of impregnating other
creatures for 1 week.
Catnip. A tea with a grassy, herbal taste and a
pleasant smell. Drinking this tea induces feel-
ings of calm and contentedness. This feeling
is extremely pronounced in tabaxi and leonin,
many of whom perceive this tea as a narcotic.
Just the smell of catnip tea can make a tabaxi

ous red-purple berries can close up the throat, caus-
ing suffocation. When diluted and mixed with ample
sugar or honey, however, goblinberry tea is a deliciously
refreshing beverage that causes the mouth to tingle as
it is imbibed.
Harlhoof. This tea is made from an equal blend
of two plants: the thorns from harlthorn bushes
and the flat, hoof-like leaves of the hoof-leaf weed.
Together, the tea is both enjoyable and medicinal,
with a silky texture and smoky taste that settle
the stomach and throat. Harlhoof calms those
that drink it, lessening extreme emotions such as
rage or grief.
Jethur. Purplish and (usually) as savory as broth,
this tea is made from dense clusters of fungi known as
carpet mushrooms. The taste of this tea is known to

for its ability to induce sobriety and soothe digestion. A

Unbeknownst to many novice tea drinkers, all “true” teas (these
being black, green, oolong, white, and pu’erh) come from one
plant, camellia sinensis. Teas made from any other plant are
known as herbal teas or tisanes.
For the purposes of this supplement, any beverage brewed
using hot water and plant matter is considered to be tea,
regardless of its source. While not mechanically relevant, this
distinction can be of cultural importance (or not) within your
games. Tea connoisseurs can take issue with certain beverages
being passed off as tea, to the point that it may be outright
illegal (as is the case in some real-world locations) to say that
these non-teas are tea.
Of the teas included here, the only “true” teas are earth
dragon’s eye, long jing, and pale jade. The rest use other plants,
and thus are herbal in nature.

ested in conflict or confrontation. Often served ceremo-
nially at funerals.
Nararoot. A shaved-down tuber seeped into a tea, its
natural licorice flavor is softened into a musky semi-
sweet aroma. This tea functions as a
form of birth control; once a human-
oid that can become pregnant drinks
this tea, they are rendered infertile for
a period of 2 weeks.
Pale Jade. A light and airy white
tea, cultivated in Kara-Tur, primarily
within Shou Lung. A popular export,
many merchants and tea connois-
seurs hold this tea as an excellent
introduction to proper tea drinking.
Parsal Blend. A smoky, citrus-rich blend of herbs that T hree -A shes

down between magi. If a creature drinks this tea, it
suppresses any conditions that cause a hacking cough
for 24 hours.
Portentious. Not truly a tea in its own right, porten-
tious tea is one of several varieties of common tea
subjected to minor enchantment by a cleric, wizard,
or witch. After being consumed, the remains of the tea
leaves in the drinker’s cup are said to offer insight into
that individual’s future.

ern Heartlands, proliferating in otherwise barren and
ravaged areas. Tea brewed from these berries is yellow
