way. Self development takes place throughout our life. From birth till death human beings try to

and talents. In other words, self development can be also called as self guided improvement and
self help because the only person that can help you develop and imrpove your personal character
is you.

2. TEAM DEVELOPMENT
Team development is basically the process of working in a team effectively and efficiently. As
self development focuses on one's own self, team development focuses on the team as a whole.
In order to develop an effective team you must take everyone on board. You must listen to other
members of the team because each member of a team is valuable to the common goal in their
own way, using a unique set of skills to fulfill a team role.

3. STRATEGIC THINKING AND ACTING


The simple definition of strategic thinking is the ability to plan for the future. Strategic thinking
and acting is one of the main qualities in an effective leader. They are seen as top talents. By
thinking and acting strategically, one can earn long term success of a business, team or an
individual. Strategic thinking makes the person able to make effective decisions that can benefit
him, or an organization in many ways. It is the most important skill in leadership.

4. ETHICAL PRACTICE
An effective leader must be ethical. Ethical practices refers to the professional conduct that every
leader is expected to uphold. Ethics in the workplace is defined as a set of rules that guide
employees to act in line with the morals and values of the company as a whole.
5. INNOVATION
A good and effective leader must be innovative. He must have new ideas. If the leader is
innovative, he can influence his employees to produce creative ideas. Innovative leaders have an
eye for the future. They not only focus on immediate success but also on long term success.

A good leader can greatly impact the success of team and organization. An effective leader must
understand one’s own motivation, strength and weaknesses. Great leaders connect with their
team by facilitating open communication, encouraging employee growth and development,

1. INTEGRITY
Although it may not be a statistic in employee evaluations, the importance of honesty should be
evident. For the individual and the organisation, integrity is essential. This is particularly

1. SELF ASSESSMENT
Effective leaders periodically take stock of their personal strengths and short comings, and then
ask: "What do I like to do? What am I really good at? ” What are my areas of weakness and
what do I dislike doing? Knowing your areas of weakness, doesn’t make you weak on the
contrast, it allows you to delegate to others who have those abilities in order to achieve common
goal. Rather than clinging to the false belief that they do it all, great leader hire people who

If a leader doesn’t have a plan for their team, the entire business can go off the rails. True
leaders understand and promote a clear vision and direction. Lack of vision can contribute to
frequent changes in direction, when a leader is unsure what to do or which way to go next.

4. TOO MUCH EGO


If someone appreciates him or her they think of themselves as a greater leader. In this case he or
she may be consumed with an ego that won’t allow them to listen to anyone else.

If a leader who lacks personal integrity or a sense of right and wrong, he or she has lack of

Everyone likes to be recognized for a job well done but a poor leader may take all the credit for
the work you or co workers did. True leaders are accountable for their own work and recognize

Ineffective leader who loses focus, fails to pay attention to the details and mental checkout or
