José Protacio Rizal Mercado y Alonso Realonda was born in Calamba laguna Philippines;
We all know that Rizal is one of the famous hero in our country. He is also known as the
author of the novels Noli Mi Tangere and El Filibustirismo and number of poems and
essays.
Maybe mostly of us know that Rizal is a pure blooded Filipino, for the reason that he is
one of the inspirational and greatest hero that we know because of what he’d done to
the Philippines and for the Filipino people.
But Rizal is not a full blooded filipino, Rizal has a Chinese blood. In a matter of fact Rizal’s
Great-great grandfather was a pure Chinese from the Fuijan Province of mainland China
and at least four of Jose Rizal’s Ancestors are having Chinese Blood in them. His
maternal great-grandmother, Regina Ochoa, is a Spanish-Chinese mestiza. Rizal’s father
side of the family are describe either “Chinese” or “Mestizo Chinese”. Rizal’s most
distinguished Chinese ancestor, Domingo Lam-co, was born in China and whose original
Chinese name was Cue Yi-lam. This grandfather of Rizal had an even more distinguished
ancestry in China.
Domingo Lam-co belonged to the Cua clan in South China, they are the descendants of
Shu du, the 5th son of Zhou Wu wang, the political genius who started the Chou
dynasty. Rizal’s great great grandfather, was the 19th generation descendant of the Cai
Shu Du. At the age of 35, Lam-co was baptized in 1697, in the Parian Church of San
Gabriel. He took the name domingo since he was baptized.
Domingo Lam-co was now settled in Bi an, Laguna on the Dominician esate called San
isdiro Labrador, Domingo Married Inez De la Rosa. Domingo’s son was Francisco, the
first in the line to use Mercado as a surname. Later on, Francisco’s Grandson, Rizal’s
father change the family name to Rizal to suit his farming business. Despite of how the
Chinese and the Chinese mestizo’s suffered from the Spaniards, Jose Rizal’s ancestors
were fearless people, so there is no doubt that Rizal got his ability to be brave and
remain calm.
2. Explain “The story of the Moth” in at least 5-10 sentences reflecting in the life of Rizal.
Rizal was too focused on watching the moth in the flame that he didn’t notice that
her mother was done reading the story. Then there’s one thing that he learned that is
very important in history since it helped mold Rizal to becoming a hero for our nation.
He never thought that a moth could give him a lesson that he would carry forever. “Ang
mga gamugamo pala ay hindi natatakot mamatay sa paghanap ng liwanag.” This was the
Lesson that Rizal always remember until he grew older. He did not stop looking for the
light to save the Philippines even if it meant his life. The little ladybug looked like Rizal,
he was not afraid to approach the light even though there were many other threats or
obstacles, even if it cost his life and death. Rizal was stubborn in disobeying his mother's
admonition. “Huwag mong paparisan ang ginawa ng batang gamugamo. Makikinig ka sa
pangaral upang ikaw ay hindi mapahamak.” But, because of this lesson, this taught Rizal
to be brave in fighting for own nation and for his own motherland.
