Video Project Outline

1. PURPOSE

 What is the overall goal of the video?

 What are we hoping to accomplish with the project?

 Who is the target audience?

 How long is the video expected to be and in what format?

 When is the deadline for this project?

2. PRE-PRODUCTION

1. Plot/Script Creation
2. After script is written it will begin the editing process
a. During Step #2, begin talent consideration and tryouts
b. Using storyboard or stand-ins, simulate rough cut to begin creative process of
composition and style of the video
c. Determine equipment, resources & props needed for rental/purchase
d. Get approval for expenditures
3. Use Rough Draft of Script to cast for Narrators/Actors
a. Write out shot list/storyboard and finalize with director and creative team
4. Once script is finalized, distribute to cast and crew
a. Schedule at least 1-2 read-throughs with director and all cast to work on emotion,
delivery and timing
b. Assist in character development through rehearsal and wardrobe
c. Set up rental agreements or purchases for equipment to have 1-2 days of testing and
setup
5. Decide on location and schedule shooting time to coordinate with cast

3. PRODUCTION

1. Schedule 2 separate filming days in the same week

a. After the first day, the director and editor need to review footage to determine
reshoots or additional B-roll needed for the additional filming day
2. Bring equipment, props, cast and crew to filming location and setup the scenes
a. Start with larger group scenes that will include the majority of the cast
b. Record B-roll of surroundings, environment, extras etc. while main characters
run through dialogue.
3. Record main characters scenes (dialogue, b-roll)
4. Record voice-over, foley sound effects in studio (not on location)

4. POST-PRODUCTION
1. Capture all video footage and audio recordings
2. Catalog and categorize all scenes
3. Begin color correction/lighting adjustments
a. Determine correct color temp and balance than apply to all recordings
b. Normalize audio levels
4. Determine if additional sound clips or b-roll is needed for second shooting day
5. Layout clips in timeline chronologically then start piecing together using the script
6. Under the director’s supervision, determine if cuts or omissions are needed
7. Present 1st Edit to director and Pastor for approval. Re-edit as given until approved
8. Create thumbnails for online viewing. Upload and inspect for quality and playback

5. PRESENTATION
1. Present finalized video to test audience and get feedback
2. Link to website for simultaneous launch with other materials
3. Render & make ready for various formats of download/viewing
