This document describes the process for converting a 48-bit MAC address to a 64-bit EUI-64 identifier. The MAC address F8-B4-6A-C0-B7-02 is converted by inserting FFFE in the middle to create F8B4:6AFF:FEC0:B702. Then the first 8 bits are converted to binary 1111 1000 B4:6AFF:FEC0:B702 and the value of the 7th bit is inverted to create the final 64-bit device ID of FAB4:6AFF:FEC0:B702.

EUI-64 Process
MAC Address => F8-B4-6A-C0-B7-02
F8B4:6A FFFE C0:B702 => Insert FFFE in middle of MAC Address
F8B4:6AFF:FEC0:B702 1111 1000 B4:6AFF:FEC0:B702 => convert 1st 8 bits to binary 1111 1010 B4:6AFF:FEC0:B702 => invert the value of the 7th bit FAB4:6AFF:FEC0:B702 => Final 64 bit device ID
