Healthcare Delivery System Model Guidelines

How do I get started on this project?

1. Determine kind of office you will build and what healthcare services you will provide. Do you want a partner(s)? If so, how many?
a. I want to build a surgical center and provide surgical care for patients. I do not want any partners.

2. Determine what will you do in this office? Any lab work? Any x-rays? Any surgeries? Who pays bills and keeps records?
a. In this surgical center, employers will provide vascular surgery, neurosurgery, plastic reconstructive surgery and burn treatments. There will also
be medical technologists, radiological technicians, registered nurses, physician assistants, surgeons, and anesthesiologists. The hospital will also
require nonclinical jobs including medical admissions clerks, medical record clerks, coding specialists, human resources manager, and chief
executive officer.

3. How many patients do you want to see per day in your building? (This will help you determine how many employees that you need.)
a. I expect to see at least 80 patients in my building every day.

4. Make a list of whom you will employ to meet the demands of the number of patients you plan to have per day (such as 2 medical assistants, 2 dental
hygienists, 3 office personnel, office manager, assistants, etc.). Use your textbook or other resources to find duties of various workers, education, and
average starting salary. Use your organizational structure chart from lesson 3 for this step.
I need 1 Director, 2 human resources managers, 1 medical record clerks, 2 coding specialists, 3 medical admissions clerks, 3 medical office
managers, 3 radiologists, 12 surgeons(4 vascular surgeons, 4 neurosurgeons, and 4 plastic surgeons), 12 anesthesiologists, 12 certified registered
nurse anesthetist(CRNA), 12 operating room nurse/circulating nurse, 12 surgical technicians, 12 Pas, and 12 medical device company
representatives.

5. Make a classified ad for the local newspaper for the positions that will be needed in your business. (Do you want to advertise a salary and benefits?)

6. Draw your blueprint of your “dream” healthcare office. Include all rooms, including storage places, furniture needed, and dimensions of each room. In
MSWord, open file, then “new” and then Microsoft Online to find floor plans examples.
