Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS has inked an MOU with Board of Engineers
Malaysia (BEM) on 28th February 2017 which allows UTP to facilitate group
registration of engineering undergraduates as Graduate Engineer with BEM.

Section 7(2)(a) “a Graduate Engineer who is registered with the Board may, subject to
section 8, take up employment which requires him to perform professional engineering
services”.

“professional engineering services” – means engineering services and advice in connection


with any feasibility study, planning, survey, design, construction, commissioning, operation,
maintenance and management of engineering works or projects and includes any other
engineering services approved by the Board.
Section 24(h) “Any person, sole proprietorship, partnership or body corporate who
contravenes section 7 or 8, or subsection 7A(1), 24A(1) or 24B(5) shall be guilty of an
offence and shall, on conviction, be liable to a fine not exceeding fifty thousand ringgit, or to
imprisonment for a term not exceeding three years, or to both.”.

⚫ BEM recognises the experience gained by an engineering graduate only after he has
registered as a Graduate Engineer.

⚫ Experience gained before that will not be considered.

⚫ It is prudent to register as Graduate Engineer at the very beginning of engineering


career.

⚫ Using the abbreviation “Grad.Eng.” after his name or in any way associate with his
name.
Subsection 10(1) defines the qualification for registration as a Graduate Engineer with
BEM. A person who holds any qualifications in engineering which is recognised by the
Board shall be entitled on application to be registered as a Graduate Engineer.

All UTP Engineering Programmes are accredited by Engineering Accreditation Council.


This shows our engineering degree graduates (both local and foreign students) are eligible
to apply for Graduate Engineer with Board of Engineers Malaysia.

1. Applicants must complete both Form A1 and e-form. Failing which your application
will not be processed and fee will not be refunded.

correct, complete and clear.
