Further on observing the performance of the canal system for 5years, water is not
reaching the tail end reaches. As per the Joint Azmoish conducted during 2012, it
was observed that only 8154.17 acres were irrigated against the IP created of
11560 acres. As such it is proposed to provide C.C lining for the stretches from
km0.00 to km 8.00,km 8.00 to 16.32 and km 16.32 to km 23.850 of the main canal
to improve its performance for which the line estimates are prepared and worked
out to Rs.7.65 crores. Copies of line estimates for the above 3 reaches of main canal
are enclosed herewith. In addition to the above, two more works are identified as
they are found necessary for filing up gullies, repairs to sluices, silt removal and
repairs to gates etc., for proper functioning of Surampalem Reservoir Project. Now
the total number of works comes to 16nos for an amount of Rs.12.52 crores. The
expenditure towards these works can be met from the same Revised estimate
amount submitted for sanction. The statement showing the works already
completed and works yet to be taken up are enclosed in Annexure I&II. The above
works were not included in the Revised estimate.
