SL. DESCRIPTION OF BHEL REQUIRED OFFERED DEVIATION


NO. REQUIREMENT
1.0 PURPOSE :-
A.C. /D.C. TIG welding machine shall be
used for TIG welding of copper to copper,
stainless steel to stainless steel and copper to
stainless steel.
2.0 SCOPE :-
The scope includes the design, 01 No.
manufacturing, supply, commissioning and
job proving at BHEL Works at Haridwar.
3.0 JOB DESCRIPTION :-
3.1 During the manufacturing of the stator
winding bars with 540° transposition, bar
ends are required to be TIG welded without
filler. Bar end consist of two halves of
strands of copper conductors and would be
clamped together before TIG welding.
3.2 Also the same machine shall be used to TIG
weld copper contact sleeves with stainless
steel plates with filler in 800 MW stator
winding bars.
4.0 TECHNICAL SPECIFICATION OF A.C.

4.1 Type :- Pulse TIG AC /DC Vendor to confirm
4.2 Input supply :- 415 +/-15% variation,
3-phase, 50+/-3% Hz.
4.3 Output current range :- 3-350 A (AC/DC) Vendor to confirm
4.4 Welding current at 100% duty cycle:- Vendor to confirm
280 A at 40°C ambient temperature
4.5 Welding current at 60% duty cycle (10 Vendor to confirm
min.):- 350 A at 40°C ambient temperature
4.6 Type of cooling :- Forced air Vendor to confirm
4.7 Degree of protection :- IP23 Vendor to confirm

5.0 TECHNICAL FEATURES :-
5.1 CONSTRUCTION :-
TIG welding machine shall be portable, light
weight, handy and sturdy to work at rough

and tough shop floor working conditions.
5.2 IN-BUILT FEATURES :-
(1) H.F. ignition facility.
(2) Pulsed welding function, slope up, slope
down etc.
(3) Automatic gas pre-flow and post-
flow facility.
(4) Gas test function.
(5) 2 steps / 4 steps operation.
(6) Over temperature protection.
(7) Crater fill current function.
(8) Earth leakage monitoring.
(9) Automatic AC balance control for
AC welding.
(10) Continuously adjustable welding power
(11) Step-less control of current setting.
(12) Inbuilt safety measures against open
circuit, short circuit or phase fault etc.
(13) Inbuilt protective system to sense the
water flow in the torch and prevent
burning of torch in case of insufficient /
stoppage of water flow.
(14) Auto cut off in case of over heating.
(15) Function selection switch for DC TIG,
Pulsed TIG, AC TIG modes.
(16) Hold function to know actual value of
welding current and voltage after
welding.
5.3 FRONT PANEL LED DISPLAY :-
(1) Welding voltage and current.

(3) Welding parameters like pre-flow time,
up-slope time, pulse pause time, ignition
current, down-slope time, gas post flow
time etc.
(4) Hold function.

5.4 SCOPE OF SUPPLY :-


(1) Power source :- Digital microprocessor
controlled inverter / power source type.
(2) Suitable water cooling unit to keep the
Torch cool during TIG welding at rated
capacity.

(3) Suitable water cooled, light weight,
flexible, ergonomically designed TIG
torch with swivel mounted head & fitted
with control switch on the handle for
different operations and 4 meter long lead
with connector.
(4) Argon gas pressure regulator and flow
meter with connecting nipples to suit
Indian standard Argon Gas Cylinders.
(5) Wheel mounted trolley suitable for above
TIG Welding machine.
(6) Cable and hoses :-
 Input cable with plug--- 10 meters long.
 Interconnecting hose--- 10 meters long.
 Earthing cable with clamps
--- 5 meters long.
(7) Tool kit consisting of nozzle cleaner,
Allen key, spanner etc.

6.0 SPARES & CONSUMABLES :-

6.4 CONSUMABLES :-
 Gas nozzle, dia 6/8/10 mm, length 25/40

7.0 COMMISSIONING & JOB PROVING :-
7.1 Commissioning, job proving and final
acceptance shall be done after successful
performance of AC / DC TIG welding
machine at BHEL works at Haridwar.
8.0 GUARANTEE :-
8.1 Vendor shall give 3 years guarantee for
smooth and trouble free operation after
successful commissioning of AC / DC TIG
welding machine at BHEL works at
Haridwar.
9.0 QUALIFYING CONDITION :-
9.1 Performance certificate from the customers
to whom offered model has been supplied in
last 5 years.
10.0 OPERATION & MAINTENANCE
MANUAL :-
10.1 Vendor shall supply 5 sets of operation and
maintenance manuals containing following :-
(1) Operation and maintenance
instruction and Do’s & Don’ts.
(2) Mechanical assembly diagram of
TIG Torch giving identification no. and
name of each part.
(3) Electrical & electronic circuit
diagrams.
(4) Wiring diagram with proper wire
nos.
(5) Trouble shooting chart / diagnostic
system and remedies.
List of all the spares with identification no.
and prices including PCBs, capacitors,
transformers, power supply, thyristers,
transistors and diode modules, switches,
water pressure / flow switch, gas valve, H.F.

module, water cooling pump, torch and torch
spares.
11.0 TRAINING :-
11.1 Vendor shall provide 3 days training to
welders / supervisors and maintenance
personnel at BHEL works at Haridwar
during commissioning and job proving of the
machine.
12.0 AFTER SALES SERVICE NETWORK :-
12.1 Prompt after sales service during and after
expiry of guarantee period and down time of
the machine should not be more than 48
hours. Also party should confirm availability
of consumables / spares for at least 10 years.
13.0 GENERAL :-
13.1 Vendor shall provide point wise
confirmations and clarifications of all above
mentioned specification’s clauses with
technical back up documents, detailed
technical literatures etc.
13.2 Vendor shall mention clearly the scope of
supply i.e. power source, torch, water
cooling unit cables and accessories,
consumables, spares as per specification
with model no. / identifications nos. and
individual prices.
