Principle of Fresnel collector
Linear Fresnel reflectors use long, thin segments of mirrors to focus sunlight onto a fixed
absorber located at a common focal point of the reflectors. These mirrors are capable of
concentrating the sun’s energy to approximately 30 times its normal intensity. This
concentrated energy is transferred through the absorber to heat up fluids or evaporate
water for direct steam production.

History: Augustin-Jean Fresnel (1788 –1827), was a French engineer and who
studied the behaviour of light both theoretically and experimentally. He is best known as
the inventor of the fresnel lens.

Hybrid concept - different applications:
o With the innovative modular mirror modules the proven technology of large CSP power
plants is now also available for the industry using a market concept similar to the one for
conventional flat plate collectors.
o Closing a market gap in the solar business with many applications
o The system is used beside an existing steam boiler => fossil fuel cost reduction by
substitution
o During sunny periods the solar system delivers steam, the existing boiler load can be
reduced
o In cases of an existing lack of capacity, the solar steam system can help to increase
production

Technology
o Direct conversion of solar power into steam
o CSH – Concentrated Solar Heat
o Linear Fresnel system
o Flat narrow mirror strips focus the sunlight onto a receiver pipe
o The mirror strips are turned by drive and control with high precision according to the
tracking of the sun during the day
o Water is heated up and evaporated in the receiver
o Mirror module: focused, swivel-mounted mirror strips with drive and control preassembled
and tested on a panel ready for installation

Patented mirror strip connection
o Very flexible o Permanent connection
o Long lifetime o Reduced height, compared to other system→ less
o Tearproof weight

o Stressable o Enables less material input
