CREATING NEW ISOMETRIC STYLE

Creating a new isometric style involves either editing an existing

Intergraph border or importing a border/template file. Afterwards,
copying the XML file with the options. Lastly bulkloading the new
style into the catalog.
_________________________________________________________

COPYING EXISTING SP3D BORDER

1. Make a copy of Iso_Pipeline.igr which is found in the following

folder:

\\Server\Symbols\PmfgIsoStyleData\

In this example, we will be using project 338152 found on server

0678.

\\sli0678\338152_Sym_sli0678\PmfgIsoStyleData\

_________________________________________________________

2. Rename Copy of Iso_Pipeline.igr to Iso_Pipeline_xxxxxx.sha

In this example, it will be renamed to Iso_Pipeline_338152.sha

ADJUSTING DRAWING CONTROL AND DRAWING

FRAME OPTIONS TO MATCH BORDER

Normally the drawing size is controlled by editing the Drawing >

Controls > DrawingSize property. However, if you have a non-
standard drawing size, you will need to set up the drawing frame to
your custom size. Use the DrawingFrame.CustomWidth and
CustomHeight for this purpose.

1. Go to Tasks > Drawings and Reports.

DRAWING CONTENT

Change Management

Turning Change Management ON enables the user to lock the

appearance of a piping isometric drawing. Meaning, the extracted
data will appear on the same sheet of an isometric drawing with every
update. If more components are added to the pipeline, they will be
shown on subsequent sheets of the isometric drawing.

End Connection

Page 63
To Do List No: TBD

Labels.EndConnection refers to special labels that are

evaluated for end connections of an isometric.

The label END-CONNECTION-EQUIPMENT evaluates the nozzle and

returns data such as equipment name, nozzle name, and nozzle
attributes such as size, end preparation, pressure rating etc…

For the END-CONNECTION-PIPELINE label, the piping part

connected to the last object on the current isometric is passed to the
label. It is the label which then retrieves the appropriate continuation
item based on the kind of isometric being run.

Pipeline Isometric Pipeline that the part belongs to

Spool Isometric Spool if part belongs to spool or part name if the
connected part does not belong to a spool.
WBS Isometric WBS Iso Drawing Name if part is assigned to
WBS Item of type Iso Drawing, pipeline name if
it’s not assigned to WBS Item.
Penetration spool Pipeline that the part belongs to.

Component Attributes

Labels.ComponentAtts

These labels, if added in the style options, are evaluated for each
piping part and written to the PCF file. This PCF file can then be
imported by Stress Analysis software such as CAESAR II.

_________________________________________________

Attribute Breaks

The isometric style options allow the administrator to output

attribute/specification breaks on the isometric drawing. This
functionality has two parts, setting an AlternativeText and then
supplying a label to get the data for the parts.

Page 64
To Do List No: TBD

Specification categories are divided into two categories, standard and

miscellaneous. The standard attributes are piping, insulation, tracing
and painting specifications. These are output for every part in the PCF
file by default as well as in the header section of the PCF.

Whether the breaks are shown on the isometric is controlled by the

AlternativeText values. If the ATEXT value is set to a non-null string,
the string is output as a prefix.

For the isometric shown below, ATEXT -289 was set to CLASS:

Item Value ATEXT

Piping Specification Spec Name -289
Insulation Short String Value of -290
Specification Insulation Material
code list attribute
Tracing Specification Short String Value of -291
Heat tracing type
code list attribute
Painting Specification Short String Value of -292
Coating type code list
attribute

The miscellaneous or user-defined specification attributes are set

using labels.

Labels.MiscSpec

The miscellaneous attributes are functionally identical to the standard

attributes, except that the user is able to set the value to whatever
attribute is desired. Labels are specified for each of the miscellaneous
specifications. The labels are evaluated for each piping part and
written into the PCF for each part and into the header.

TITLE BLOCK

Change Drawing Frame Attributes

Isogen has 99 user definable attributes available. These attributes

can be output on the isometric drawing by user defined coordinates.

Mapping an attribute involves the following 3 steps:

1. Us the AttributeMAP section of the Isometric Style to map a

host attribute (user defined) to an ISOGEN attribute (choose
from ATTRIBUTE11 to ATTRIBUTE99).

2. Use a label to decide what data the chosen Isogen

ATTRIBUTE will hold. The oid type of the item is also
controlled through the same menu. The choices are “Default”
(evaluates the label for the object that the isometric is being
created for), PipeRun (evaluates the label for the largest
PipeRun NPD) and PipeLine.

3. Use the DrawingFrame.Attributes section of the Isometric

Style, position the label at specific coordinates and set the text
properties (height, width and font type).
