REFLECTION ABOUT THE WEBINAR ENTITLED

“MARESPETO”

My reflection about the second webinar that is hosted by Mr. Dun Oliver Abiera is
that there are some ways we can support the youth in our life to engage in responsible
social media by constructing and maintaining a pleasant, respectful and efficient
environment for online communication in order for us to maintain a good relationship
with other people and to avoid misunderstanding. Second, we must consider one’s and
other’s reputation when using the internet to firmly prevent any oppositions between our
colleagues. Third, be responsible in the use of social networking sites and; Exercise
care and truthfulness in presenting oneself in the internet so that we are not being
engaged into something that will lead us turning into a bad behavior.

Living in our digital world has caused many positive and negative impacts in our
life. Living in an instant or having grown up during a time of much of this digital
progression I have noticed how it has affected all aspects of my life. It has made things
both easier and more difficult whether it’s in my family and social lives, academics,
work, or thoughts about the future. When it comes to my family and social lives,
technology has increased convenience and connections both near and far. On the other
hand, there are more pressures surrounding relationships. Due to the constant
connections, more expectations and stress to remain in contact or up to date at all times
surfaces. Throughout my years in school, technology and resources have become more
readily available and changed drastically. The new technology often times has meant
faster and more convenient ways of doing things. At the same time, I have noticed how
this change has created more distraction and risk. Similarly, the digital age has provided
many more resources, opportunities and speed when it comes to the work world. I can
see how some may think that it takes away from the experience and can have negative
effects but personally I am very curious and interested in the potential it holds.

Respect, as a by-product of love, is one of our innate qualities. So in truth, we

should not really need to make effort to give it. Everybody is worthy of respect simply
because they exist, because they are there in front of you. You may not approve of a
person’s behavior, but do not condemn the soul. They are soul beings and our brothers.
It is when we don’t realize that we are beings of love, that we go seeking love, approval,
or regard from others. We only need something when we feel empty. When we are in
our self-respect that automatically attracts respect from others and also helps them to
engender respect for themselves.

When it comes to ethics or social responsibility, people might think these themes
belong to organization. However, ethics or social responsibility are the same important
for the individual while the digital world grows. Since people can easily publish their
comments on the website and share their thoughts. These comments create positive or
negative externalities for third parties. Because every internet user can read the writer’s
comments and understand his value. Thus, spamming, flaming or cyberbullying should
be avoided. As a result, the healthy community in the digital world is built, and become
the cornerstone of the development of the digital world in the future.
