Safety Precautions

Thunderstorms Handling of RTN 320 or mounting kits

Do not work with electrical current or work in elevated or exposed locations during a thunderstorm. Wear clean gloves when handling the RTN 320 or mounting kits.

Extreme weather conditions Corrosion

RTN 320 is usually installed outdoors. If weather conditions are extreme during an installation, personnel should Anti-corrosion measures are required if an RTN 320 is installed in a location that is prone to corrosion. Contact
follow the related local guidelines and regulations to safeguard personal health and safety.
the local Huawei office for details. A location is prone to corrosion if it is:
• Within 3.7 km of an ocean or a salt water lake
Elevated locations
• Within 3 km of a heavy pollution source, such as a smelting factory or coal mine
RTN 320 is usually installed in an elevated location, for example, on the rooftop of a building. For installation in • Within 2 km of a medium pollution source, such as a chemical, rubber, or electroplating plant
elevated locations, installation personnel must: • Within 1 km of a light pollution source, such as a food/leather processing plant or heating boiler
• Have the proper training and qualifications, and meet health requirements.
• Wear helmets, safety belts, and anti-slip footwear.
• Wear clothing and gloves appropriate to weather conditions. Local rules and regulations
• Work in teams of two or more.
• Test hoisting tools before use. If local rules and regulations require that anti-corrosion measures must be taken for ground connections,
• Avoid installation during extreme weather conditions, such as during thunderstorms, blizzards, or gales. comply with local rules and regulations.
In addition, all site visitors must wear helmets.

Microwave Unpacking
High-power radio frequency signals are harmful. Avoid exposure to transmission from the antennas of microwave To prevent water vapor from accumulating inside the device:

antenna located on a tower that has multiple antennas, avoid exposure to radiation from other antennas.
• Do not power off an RTN 320 for more than 24 hours during maintenance.

Lasers
Do not look into an optical port without eye protection.

High temperature

If the ambient temperature reaches 55°C, the surface temperature of an RTN 320 may exceed 70°C.
Therefore, wear protective gloves when handling the RTN 320. A high-temperature warning label ( ) is
attached to each RTN 320.

Moving and hoisting heavy objects

To move or hoist heavy objects, use appropriate equipment and adhere to the following guidelines:
• All personnel should wear helmets and protective clothes, gloves, and shoes.
• Move heavy objects along a flat obstacle-free path.
• Do not lift heavy objects by hand. Use appropriate equipment instead.
• When items are hoisted, ensure that those standing nearby are safe from falling objects.
• Use hoisting tools properly. Do not exceed load allowances to prevent damage to pulleys or slings.

generate electric arc or sparks, which may cause fire or eye injury. If a service port is not in use, remove the cable from it and plug it with a waterproof block.
• Connect the power cables correctly to the positive and negative terminals of the power supply device (see circled
No.1 in the figure below). To prevent damage to power cables or devices caused by short-circuits, install a circuit
breaker on the negative terminal of the power supply device (see circled No.2 in the figure below). The
recommended fuse capacity is 10 A to 16 A.
• Do not connect the RTN 320 to an AC power supply device. Otherwise, the RTN 320 may be damaged.
• Do not connect the RTN 320 to a DC power supply device providing power beyond the range of –38.4 V to –57.6
V. Otherwise, the RTN 320 may be damaged.

Do not leave any service cable unconnected.

Installation Precautions

Installation space requirements Installation position requirements

•Reserve at least 30 cm space on the side of the RTN 320 so that the maintenance compartment can be opened. The RTN 320 can be installed on either side of a hybrid coupler or OMT. You can install the RTN 320 on the right or
left side based on installation space requirements.

Installation Precautions

How to handle the issue that the maintenance compartment cannot be opened due to the support bar
After installing the RTN 320, check whether the maintenance compartment can be opened. If it cannot be opened due to the support bar, adjust the installation position or angle of the support bar.

The following adjustment methods are available:

3. Adjust the installation angle of the support bar so that the maintenance compartment can be removed.
1. Adjust the installation angle of the support bar to ensure that the maintenance compartment can be opened.
4. Install a fixing bar for the support bar so that the angle of the support bar can be adjusted to the greatest extent.
Then, the maintenance compartment can be opened, and the antenna's wind resistant capability is maximized.

Fixing bar

5. Use the separate mounting mode.

2. Adjust the fixing point of the support bar to ensure that the maintenance compartment can be opened.

Loading NE Data by Using the Web LCT

•The RTN 320 can connect to the Web LCT through its NMS/GE2(e) port using
a network cable or communicate with the Web LCT through its WLAN module.
•RTN 320 provides two NMS ports. One is the NMS/GE2(e) port, and
the other is the NMS port that is on a side of the maintenance compartment.
The two ports have the same pin assignments and functions. The NMS/GE2(e)
port is preferred for easy cable routing.
