Objectives:

On successful completion of this module (and practical tasks), the student should be able to:

 Describe the world coordinate system, the UCS icon and the right-hand rule.
 Draw 3D models with the UCS located at the world coordinate system.
 Create 3D modeling primitive.
 Create 3D modeling solid.
 Apply 3D modeling solid editing.
 Describe and apply the 3D modeling Boolean commands.
 Describe and apply the view commands to present their final work and to explore it during the work.

The AutoCAD III course is the third course in the STS AutoCAD series of courses. During the course period, students learn the major
features of AutoCAD 3D. Students need to identify the drawing requirements in relation to the purpose, information available and
presentation needs. This course covers all the basic principles required to introduce students to 3D modeling using AutoCAD software.
Creating 3D models allows student to visualize and present designs in AutoCAD 3D which is necessary in industrial sector for production.
They explore how to create and modify wireframe models. Upon the successful completion of this course, students should be able to,
describe the world coordinate system, the UCS icon and the right-hand rule. Draw 3D models with the UCS located at the world coordinate
system. Create 3D modeling primitive, like to create 3D modeling Box, create 3D modeling cylinder and create 3D modeling sphere and so
on. In this course students will learn how to create 3D modeling solid by extrude, revolve, and press full. Sweep and loft the segments.
Then they will apply 3D solid editing, union, subtracting and intersect on the drawings to achieve the final requirement shape. Finally they
will apply the view commands to present their final work.

Introduction
Using 3D design modeling greatly improves design quality because it is a more complete process than 2D design. As a result, human
errors that occur with traditional 2D design methods are avoided. In the past, problems such as component collisions, incorrect
quantities or parts that don't fit, would happen because a designer who works in only 2D is forced to hold much of the information
mentally. It is human factors that give rise to errors because the brain CANNOT visualize form and fit to exact scale. Reducing human
error by using 3D design methods minimizes the need for costly (both financial and time delays) re-work because the design quality is
greatly improved

The benefits of 3D CAD design:
Communication:

Communication of design intent is vastly improved by using CAD 3D modeling. In the past, non-technical people cannot interpret 2D
designs and often had to wait for a prototype before they could truly understand a design. Since CAD 3D modeling can be used to
generate pictorial views, as well as traditional projections, the design intent can clearly be seen by anyone willing to look. Consequently,
it is possible to communicate a 3D modeling design and promote inter departmental understanding earlier in the project cycle, thus
creating time savings throughout the design cycle. Customer presentations, brochures, manufacturing, and technical publications all
benefit as contextual visual info (3D Info, not the awkward and confusing 2D projections) is available early in the design phase. Clearer
communication of design intent at the earliest stage increases opportunities for greater understanding and minimizes confusion about
the form a design will take. Earlier and better quality collaboration is also made possible.

The User Coordinate System (UCS)
The User Coordinate System (UCS) is a movable coordinate system. The UCS is a fundamental tool both for 2D drawing and 3D modeling
because it defines

The XY plane, also called the work plane, on which objects are created and modified

For 3D operations, the orientation of work planes, projection planes, and the Z axis for vertical direction and axis of rotation

1-The UCS in 2D

The drawing area displays an icon representing the XY axis of a rectangular coordinate system called the User Coordinate System, or UCS.

 To Move the UCS Origin Using the Origin Grip

1. Click the UCS icon.


2. Click and drag the square origin grip to its new location.
The UCS origin (0,0,0) is redefined at the point that you specified

 To Specify a New UCS Orientation With Three Points

1. Right-click the UCS icon, and click 3 Point.


2. Specify a new origin point.
3. Specify a point on the new positive X axis.
4. Specify a point on the new XY plane

2-The UCS in 3D

The XY plane, also called the work plane, on which objects are created and modified

Right-click the UCS icon, and click Z Axis.


Specify a point for the new origin (0,0,0).

 To Rotate the UCS About the X , Y , or Z Axis
Right-click the UCS icon, and click Rotate Axis. Click X, Y, or Z.
As you drag the cursor, the UCS rotates in the positive direction around the specified axis. You can also specify a rotation angle

 To Align the UCS With an Existing 3D Object

Click the UCS icon, and then click Move and Align.
Drag the UCS icon over the portion of the object with which you want to align it.
Click to place the new UCS.

 To Restore the Previous UCS

Right-click the UCS icon, and then click Previous.
 To Restore the UCS to the WCS Orientation

Click the UCS origin grip, and then click World.

Understand the World Coordinate System (WCS)

All objects in a drawing are defined by their coordinates in the World Coordinate System (WCS), which cannot be moved or rotated. The
WCS and the UCS are initially coincident in a new drawing

Viewing
Pan and zoom in a drawing, and control the order of overlapping objects. The easiest way to change your view is by using the wheel on
your mouse.

 Zoom in or out by rolling the wheel.


 Pan a view in any direction by holding the wheel down and then moving your mouse.

Solid Modeling
A solid model is a volume that represents a 3D object, and has properties such as mass, center of gravity, and moments of inertia. You
can create 3D solids from primitive solids such as cones, boxes, cylinders, and pyramids, or by extruding, revolving, sweeping, or lofting
closed 2D objects as shown.

You can also combine 3D solids using Boolean operations such as union, subtract, and intersect. The illustration below shows two solids
that were extruded from closed polylines, and then combined by intersecting them

2. Select the edge of the base surface to chamfer.


One of two surfaces adjacent to the selected edge is highlighted.

3. Do one of the following:


 To select a different surface, enter n (Next).
 To use the current surface, press Enter.

4. Specify the base surface distance.


The base surface distance is measured from the selected edge to a point on the base surface. The other surface distance is measured
from the selected edge to a point on the adjacent surface.

5. Specify the location of the chamfer using one of the following options.
 To specify an individual edge, select the edge.
 To select all edges around the base surface, enter l (Loop). Specify an edge.

6. To complete the chamfer, press Enter.


You can select more than one edge at a time, as long as they belong to the same face. Enter a value for the chamfer distance or click and drag the chamfer
grips

24-Dimensions commands

Dimensioning is the process of adding measurement annotation to a drawing.

You can create dimensions for a variety of object types in many orientations. The basic types of dimensioning are
 Linear
 Radial (radius, diameter and jogged)
 Angular
 Ordinate
 Arc Length

3D modeling section

25-Creates a section object.

Section plane objects create sections of 3D solids, surfaces, and meshes. Use live sectioning with section plane objects to analyze a
model, and save sections as blocks for use in layouts.

The following options are displayed.

Face or Any Point to Locate Section Line


Specifies a face to establish the plane of the section object.
Alternatively, you can select any point on the screen that is not on a face to create a section object independent of the solid or
surface. The first point establishes a point around which the section object rotates.
 Through point. Sets a second point that defines the plane of the section object.

Draw section
Defines the section object with multiple points to create a section line with jogs.
This option creates a section object in the Section Boundary state with live sectioning turned off.

Orthographic
Aligns the section object to an orthographic orientation relative to the UCS.

A section object that contains all 3D objects is created with the specified orientation relative to the UCS (not the current view). This
option creates a section object in the Section Plane state with live sectioning turned on.
 Align section to. Sets the position of the section object to align with one of the following UCS orientations that you specify:
 Front
 Back
 Top
 Bottom
 Left
 Right

26- Present the drawings accurately to scale on bordered paper

To scale each displayed view in output accurately, set the scale of each view relative to paper space.

When you work in a layout, the scale factor of a view in a layout viewport represents a ratio between the actual size of the model
displayed in the viewport and the size of the layout. The ratio is determined by dividing the paper space units by the model space units.
For example, for a quarter-scale drawing, the ratio would be a scale factor of one paper space unit to four model space units, or 1:4.

You can change the view scale of the viewport using

 The Properties palette


 The XP option of the ZOOM command
 The Viewports Scale on the status bar
Note:
 Scaling or stretching the layout viewport border does not change the scale of the view within the viewport.
 When creating a new drawing based on a template, the scales in the template are used in the new drawing. The scales in the user
profile are not imported.
 You can modify the list of scales that are displayed in all view and plot scale lists with SCALELISTEDIT. After you add a new scale to
the default scale list, you can use the Reset button in the Edit Drawing Scales dialog box to add the new scale to your drawing.

Annotative Objects and Scaling

Annotative objects are defined at a paper height instead of a model size and assigned one or more scales. These objects are scaled based
on the current annotation scale setting and are automatically displayed at the correct size in the layout or when plotted. The annotation
scale controls the size of the annotative objects relative to the model geometry in the drawing.

You can specify the default list of scales available for layout viewports, page layouts, and plotting in Default Scale List dialog box.

27-Procedures for shutting down/logging off/exiting computing technology are followed. Close AutoCAD correctly

Save everything

The first command is an Express tool called SAVEALL. Simply type saveall at the command line, and all your open drawings will be
saved, but remain open.

Close everything

The second command is a standard AutoCAD command called CLOSEALL. Once again, simply type closeall at the command line, and all
your drawings will be closed Lickety Split.

Or do both

The final command is another Express tool called QQUIT. This tool will attempt to save and close all your drawings, and then close
AutoCAD down completely.
