1.0 SCOPE
This method statement describes the method and procedures for launching
precast I- beams at road bridge RB011 – Jalan Kampar – Teluk Intan.
2.0 MATERIALS
Precast I - beams are cast at site and will be launched after achieving
the required design strength and stressing process completed.

2 Barbenders

4.0 METHOD
As this road bridge is constructed in two stages, only half of the total
beam number (24/48) will be launched at during Stage 1. The
remaining beams will be launched at Stage 2
The launching sequence beams shall be from Span 2, Span 1 and Span
3. ( Please refer to Appendix 1).
Prior to launching audit survey shall be carry out to check the level at
top of crossheads and abutments where the beams will rest.
The precast beams will be transported from casting yard to side of
abutments/piers by trailers.
Rubber bearing pads shall be placed at the marked position on top of
epoxy plinth at crossheads and abutments prior to launching.
1 no of 65 tonne and 40 tonne crawler/mobile crane will be used to
hoist up the precast beams from the trailers.
Two general workers will be designated on each side of the
crossbeam / abutment to guide the precast beams to its correct
permanent position.

and safety shoes within KTMB Right Of Way (ROW). The crane operator
must possess a valid certificate of competency on crane operation.
6.2 Working Hour
Line block is required only during launching beams at Span 2. While
working near existing railway track, the beams will only be lifted when
the track is clear of moving trains. A PICOW will supervise the works.
All KTMB regulations regarding working near existing railway track will
be adhered to.
6.3 Regulations
All site activities shall comply strictly with KTM regulations and
requirements. Before commencement of works, all relevant staff will
be briefed and trained to comply with KTMB regulations. All staff will
also be familiar with the Construction Crisis Team’s Handbook.
