GSM Indoor Cell Planning
GSM Indoor Cell Planning
GSM Indoor Cell Planning
COURSE
OBJECTIVES: Upon completion of this course, the participant will:
• Understand why indoor solutions are needed and how they can be integrated with the existing
outdoor networks.
• Have an understanding of the type of antenna system to use, the number of antennas required
and where to position them in order to maximize coverage and capacity while minimizing
interference.
• Be able to control traffic to and from an indoor cell as desired by using parameters and features.
• Enjoy the benefits of having performed some practical and realistic case studies.
SUITABLE FOR: Those involved in planning and building a GSM network with indoor cells.
PREREQUISITES: GSM System Overview and GSM Cell Planning courses or equivalent knowledge.
CONTENTS: GSM phones are increasingly being used as the only office phone, at the same time as wireless data
services like HSCSD, GPRS and EDGE have been introduced into GSM networks. We look at how
indoor coverage and quality need to be upgraded in pace with this development. We consider how this
improved Quality of Service (QoS) is achieved through the appropriate design and installation of
indoor cells. The different types of applications are described, together with the design of each type to
meet the needs of public and business solutions. The learning process is enhanced through a
practical and realistic case study.
