1.0 PURPOSE
The purpose of works of this method statement is to ensure that the Permanent Connection is

made in accordance with the correct methods and procedures.

3.0 RESPONSIBILITIES
PM/DPM shall ensure that all necessary tools & Instruments, safety protective equipments
are provided along with properly trained and qualified surveyors and made
available sufficiently in advance to the commencement of the work.

Safety Officer has to implement and enforce all safety precautions. He will also inspect the work
site regularly, and report deficiencies to the DPM / PM.

Site Engineer is responsible for the construction work and shall delegate a named Site
Supervisor who shall ensure that this procedure is fully implemented including
documentation till completion.

Surveyor is responsible to ensure that all surveying instrument being used are calibrated
and having valid calibration certificate and he shall ensure that all information,
data etc. required is to be taken and recorded on his Field Book.

4.0 ACTIONS
A. Preparation for Connection
1. Surveying works to locate the existing pipeline.

2. Preparation of shop drawing for connection and get approved by the Consultant / ADDC .
3. Method Statement to be submitted.
4. Check-List to be submitted and get it checked and verified.
5. Excavate the existing pipeline around and under.
6. Check Quality of Existing / New pipe work.
7. Site Safety measures to be taken.
8. Prepare the new fitting and make-up piece to be used, soak them in a clean tank full of
potable water with approved chlorine dose of 50mg/L for 12 hours before installation.
9. Cast the first part of the required concrete thrust block/anchor block (if applicable).
10. Get the official permission for shut-down from the Engineer / ADDC / TRANSCO.
11. Mark the cutting point.
B. Work Execution
1. ADDC representative will close the required valves for shut down.
2. Cutting the existing pipeline from down upwards (Pneumatic cutting machine to be used
for dia.  600mm), discharge water through the nearest storm water system or any
other approved locations.
3. Cleaning, bevelling the cutting area, touch up and painting.
4. Install the new fitting and pipe pieces to make the permanent connection to the existing
pipeline.
5. Shift the affected house connection, if applicable.
6. Cast in-situ the second part of the thrust block / anchor block (if applicable).
7. Partially backfill over the pipeline except joints.
8. ADDC representative will open the closed valves.
9. Visual inspection for joints will be monitored to assure success of connection.
10. Wrap the flanged joint, other joints etc.
11. Backfill the excavated area and demobilize from the above area
12. Prepare the As-Built drawing for the above.
