2. In your perspective, why is the study of communication relevant to your life and to your future
profession? Cite specific instances of its significance. (5 points)
- Studying communication is important in our life because interaction is vital for our survival.
Without this, we will become lost acting like savages. We also rely on communication for our
future profession, because as people in the healthcare system, we use this on a daily basis.
When we speak with our patients, co- workers, etc. We relay instructions to our colleagues with
our words and actions, we help our patient understand certain procedures by explaining it to
them, and we comfort our patient’s family through our thoughts and feelings. These are just
some instances of how important communication is in our daily lives.
3. As a sender or receiver of a message, what is it that you need to develop further? How can you
improve on these areas? (5 points)
- When you communicate with others, there are times when there are certain barriers which will
hinder one from being able to interact properly. This could be issues like noise and
miscommunication due to differences in language. As a sender of a message, sometimes I have
trouble properly conveying myself. This is because there are times where the words I use may
be difficult for others to understand. I can prevent this by being aware of the situation and
understand who I am speaking to. There is a proper time and place for certain topics and ideas.
As a receiver of a message sometimes I can easily misunderstand and misinterpret the
conversation. By asking for clarification and explanation, I am able to understand and prevent
any future issues.

and the likes. It is also more formal to resolve conflict this way. Unfortunately, there may be
times that we have to rely on unconventional methods and this is where online interaction will
come in. As long as both parties are able to understand and compromise then communication
will still likely take place.
8. Research on an issue in the context of cyber communication. How do you think this issue can be
resolved? (15 points)
- Cyberbullying is a form of bullying or harassment using electronic means. People hide behind
the anonymity of the internet and use it as a platform to openly harass others for their own
benefit. They find relief in attacking those who are defenseless and they are confident in doing
so due lack or lenient laws on cyberbullying. This could be easily resolved by education and
awareness. Some teenagers are less likely to open up due to this form of harassment because of
how unconventional it is. If only they are aware that they need to make a stand against this then
they would surely speak to an adult about this. However, some adults are not properly informed
on what to do so they will just let this fester until it becomes a blister to society. Education can
go a long way and this could help solve this issue. Another way to solve cyberbullying is by
making and implementing certain laws that will help preserve people’s rights. This will help
condemn those who are at fault and protect those who have become victims.
