    Getting started with ModelSim(Student Edition)

    • Visit the link(clickable) https://www.mentor.com/company/higher_ed/modelsim-student-


    edition and click on the “Download Student Edition” button.
    • Fill the form as required, with special attention to the following boxes:
    1. Your official IIT-G outlook mail ID.
    2. Company as IIT Guwahati.
    3. Primary Job Function as Student.
    • Click on the “Submit” button.
    • Click on the “I Accept this Agreement” button in the next page.
    • You will receive an email with the download link in your email ID.
    1. Please wait up to 24 hours, as the mail gets delayed due to server problems (rare
    occurrence).
    2. The mail might be blocked by Outlook. Please check your Spam folder, if you
    haven’t received the mail. If you have received the mail, but can’t see the content
    of the mail, click on either “Show Blocked Content” or “Allow mails from this email
    ID” in the above-mentioned mail.
    • Click on the Download link, and a download request (346.514 MB) should popup in a while.
    Accept that.
    • Once the download is complete, run the executable file.
    • Follow the steps to download it into desired location (Though I would advise you to keep it
    as default, and not change it).
    • Once you press “Finish” on the last dialog box, a webpage will popup. You need to fill this
    form to request a free student license.
    • IMPORTANT:
    1. EMAIL: Official IIT-G Outlook Mail ID
    2. Student with Grade: Sophomore
    3. Graduation Year: 2021
    4. Graduation Term: Summer
    5. Project Details

    It is very important that you feel all the required fields. Failing to do so would result in
    License Rejection. So be careful while filling these fields.

    • Click on the “Request License” button, once the form is carefully filled.
    • A license file will be generated, and matched to your host computer (i.e. you cannot use it
    on someone else’s computer). You will receive the license file as an attachment in your
    official Outlook ID. Name: student_license.dat
    Note: If you haven’t received the license file within few minutes, please check your
    Spam/Junk folder.
    • Download the license file, and copy it to the main directory of your installation i.e. if you
    didn’t change the location (kept it as Default) during installation prompt, it should be C:/
    Modeltech_pe_edu_10.4a
    • Paste the file there, and open the software through the desktop shortcut.
    • Congratulations!
