Literacy Math
Reading We are starting work on measurement
● Remember to read a good-fit for the next few weeks.

Let’s keep those skills sharp! Printable ruler (if you don’t have a ruler
at home)
● Read a book and write a review
of that book! (Click here for a
Activity #1
printable copy.) Pick an object as your measuring tool.
Use the T-chart to find items that are
smaller or larger than your measuring
tool. Record the items you measure
under each column. Choose three
different sized objects to use for each
chart. Use the same items you
measured for the first chart for each of
the other charts. See my example.

Writing
● Excellent endings! This is where
the problems or conflicts are
resolved and we see what
happens to our characters

● It’s time to finish your story! Think
of an excellent ending to the
story you have been working on.
Once you’ve re-read the whole
thing and fixed it up be sure to
share with your teacher! Here are

Remember:
10mm = 1cm
100cm = 1m
1000m = 1km
So if something is 60mm that is 6cm
estimate and measure sheet
Use the above sheet to estimate and
measure objects inside and outside. Try
to find things that are large and small.
You may have to make a few copies of
the sheet.
List things that would be a kilometer in
length on your sheets as well. For
example, when you go for a drive, write
down the km you travelled, when you go
for a walk estimate the distance.

practice, this week the words are Now change measurements to a
teachers’ choice! different measurement, for example,
● Create a word bank of 5-7 words 20mm = 2cm
on a student selected topic (e.g. 300cm = 3m
school – recess, math, teacher,
homework, friends). Create three Changing measurements to different
sentences using some of these measurements sheet (do this sheet)
words. Try to have one sentence
that ends in a period(.), one that
ends in a question mark (?), and Challenging measurement
one that ends in an exclamation
mark (!). Make sure you fully understand the above
concepts before trying these.

Science
Spring is the perfect time of year to learn about animal habitats! We will add some
STEM activities here to challenge the students to learn about how animals survive
in their environments.
Please note: This activity will be posted for the next t wo weeks (weeks 6 & 7) so
you don’t need to rush through it!
