CASE STUDY

There are a vast number of leaders in the world. Compasses in many areas. Some of them
were appointed as leaders because of their skills, experiences or education background.
Some of them because of their traits or behavior. Please choose one leader that you like
most and describe his or her characteristics. Please highlight what makes you like that
leader.

BILL GATES

One of the characteristic of a good leader is effective communicator and I choose

Bill Gates. Bill Gates was born 1955. He had a love of computers and began programming
mainframe computers when he was 13 years old. When attending Harvard University, he
created his own version of the BASIC programming language. Microsoft started out as a
relationship with his childhood friend Paul Allen. In 1981, Microsoft became an incorporated
corporation. Gates has imagined the size of personal computer use around the world. He
expected computing power to be cheap. As a consequence, he also predicted that most
people would be able to afford a computer. At the end of the day, he was right and he
created a software industry to support this development. His efforts made him one of the
richest people on the planet.
In the business world, Bill Gates is also ranked in the top 10 of the world's most
respected business leaders. Until the point that he resigned from Microsoft in 2008, Gates
was regarded as a very challenging and somewhat abrasive manager encourages creativity
and innovation and recognizes individual and team achievements. Bill Gates' style of
leadership is authoritarian (also known as autocratic), although most of the leaders,
including Gates, have more than one type of leadership. Different styles of leadership may
be practiced depending on the situation, but most leaders have one or two dominant styles
that are recognizable most of the time.
Authoritarian leaders want to be in charge. Gates needed so much regulation that he
even signed off the costs of Steve Ballmer, who was second in command.
This style of leadership is a very successful style for use in emergency situations or
where fast decisions are required. Most of Bill Gates' success can be attributed to his swift
decision-making process.
