primary source (also called an original source or
evidence) is an artifact, document, diary, manuscript,
autobiography, recording, or any other source of
information that was created at the time under study.

Sreedharan believes that primary sources have the


most direct connection to the past and that they "speak
for themselves" in ways that cannot be captured
through the filter of secondary sources.
