INTRODUCTION
Attention-getter: What will happen if the earth’s temperatures keep rising? What will
happen if all icebergs on South and North poles melt? What will
happen if rivers, lakes, reservoirs, and wells shrink and dry out? What
will happen to us? To our families? Friends? What are we going to do?
Motivating audience: Let me start by telling you that global warming has been becoming a
global concern for people across continents. It can affect many
aspects on our lives. My life and your own life! As you can see and
feel, we have already experienced climate change. The rain has been
falling in heavier downpour. There are also longer periods between
rainy seasons. The situations are then worsened by higher
temperatures which lead to terrible droughts in many places. Wet
places generally become wetter, while dry places become drier. So,
what can we do to cope with these problems?
Preview of speech: Today, I’d like to focus on three things. Number one is the global
warming itself. Number two is the impacts of global warming, and
number three the workable solutions to cope with its impacts.
BODY
1. Main point: Global warming
a. Sub-point: What is global warming?
b. Sub-point: What causes global warming?
CONCLUSION
Summary statement: I hope my speech today has offered you some valuable insight into
the global warming issue. We have discussed the history and causes
of global warming, what are the impacts of global warming, and how
we cope with its impacts and save our Earth.
Eliciting audience response: Don’t wait until the sea water drowns you! Don’t wait until the rainfall
floods your homes! Don't wait until clean water becomes scarce!
Don’t wait until the jungles vanish! Don’t wait until the air is full of
pollution! Please, don’t wait! Global warming and climate change are
real. We have to take real actions. If we don’t do now, where shall we
live? There’s only one Earth. Let’s save it together now!
