Department Mandate, Vision, Mission, Core Values (VMV), and Strategic Directions
1. In what concrete ways has this session helped you become a more agentive teacher in promoting
“learner-centered” teaching?
Answer:
This session helped me to realize and understand that to become an agent of change and promoter of
learning-centered environment, one should know and understand the meaning of DepEd Mandate, Vision,
Mission and the Strategic Directions.
To become great and effective teacher he/she must be a man with a vision that could drives him/her to
work harder and do anything to develop learners who are true citizens and patriots, who have a strong desire
to serve their country and work for its betterment.
Great and effective teacher should be a man with a mission. Teacher should always bear in his/her mind
about the DepEd Mission for him/her to have a guide in doing things to meet and achieve what it says in the
vision. Teacher should always use varied and appropriate teaching strategies to enable the learners develop
their strong potential that may contribute for the betterment of the society.
2. How has this session helped you clarify your vision and motive in serving your learners better and in
promoting a learner-centered environment for them?
Answer:
This session helped me clarify my vision and motive in serving my learners better and in promoting a learner-
centered environment for them by making me understands what the DepEd Vision really is. After knowing and
understand the meaning and importance of it I learned that in all my decisions and actions, I put the Filipino
learner first. Our vision is more than just the end-goal of a plan. Teacher should inculcate the values and develop
the necessary competencies deemed necessary and desirable to ensure a lifelong learning for the learners.
3. What is the impact of the Department Mandate, VMV and Strategic Directions in your vocation as a
teacher? How can your understanding of DepEd’s Mandate and VMV provide impact to your work as a
teacher?
Answer:
After learning lots of ideas, thoughts and strategies in this session, these will lead and guide me to strive
harder just to meet the quality standard for the learners and to make them a competitive lifelong learners in
their generation. These learnings will help me in inculcating those values and competencies to learners that will
enable them to realize their full potentials in achieving their goals and ambitions in life.
4. What are your personal beliefs and values that are aligned with the DepEd’s VMV?
Answer:
My personal beliefs and values that are aligned to the DepEd’s VMV are; To enable to realize the DepEd
VMV, teachers should have a passion in valuing Nationalism and Patriotism in order to develop his/her
learners to be a true citizens and patriots. Teacher should be responsible and use varied of strategies to
enable to inculcate the values and develop the competencies and meet the desired lifelong learnings.
Effective teacher is a teacher with an action. Teacher should not just do planning for techniques and
strategies but also implementing it to be realized, assessed and evaluated.
5. How can you contribute to improve quality and relevance in education?
Answer:
Teachers are key element to educational quality because we orchestrate instructional interactions with
and between students around academic content, and these classroom interactions-in an ideal world-influence
student learning. It is assumed, therefore, that teachers and the actions they take in the classroom
fundamentally impact students and what they learn.
As a teacher and a facilitator of learning-teaching process all I can do is to give my students a varied
activities that could enhance their desired competencies and skills in order to attain lifelong learnings. I will use
varied instructional strategies and different approach for the students to be able them comprehend and absorb
all the learning contents in the teaching-learning process.
SESSION 2
1. What is the importance of knowing the DepEd organization structure and school processes in
the performance of your duties as a teacher?
Answer:
Knowing the DepEd organization structure and school processes is essential for me as a
teacher meanly because teacher should know well whom he/she approach to and whom to address
such problem that might be encountered. Teachers should know all the functions and duties of all
the employees in every department in the Department of Education for him/her to know who among
of the said department is responsible and liable in such problem.
2. Why should a teacher know who to approach in addressing concerns related to his or her duties?
Answer:
Teachers should know who to approach in addressing concerns in order for the teacher can prepare
himself/herself how to deal the person he/she wants to approach. He/She needs to conduct an investigation
for the personal background, characters and attitudes of the person he wants to approach by means of avoiding
unexpected things that might be happen in the approaching process.
I cannot deny the fact that teachers have different characteristics and attitudes in dealing and
approaching people surround them. But, he/she needs to limit himself/herself not to show his/her true identity
in dealing important person because we do not know if what are the true identity of the person we are going to
approach.
SESSION 3
As a newly hired teacher, I am already manifesting the following qualities like having an
empathy and valuing my students as a unique individuals, ability to build caring relationships with
my students, can understand and sympathize the feelings of my students, having an infinite patience
for my students, possessing competencies in the use of teaching skills that facilitate student learning.
However, I need to improve my qualities so that I can give the learning needs of my students, to be
more passionate about what to teach in order to become an efficient and effective teacher.
As a professional teacher I should able to translate the content knowledge into forms
and levels that meet the abilities and needs of the learners. I should be the teacher who can
give clear and pertinent examples, make analogies, demonstrate and explain the subject
matter in an interesting way to persuade the eagerness of the students in participating the
discussion. Because according to Jerome Bruner that “There is no subject matter which is
difficult to learn. It is the method that the teacher uses that makes the subject matter easy
or difficult to learn.” As a teacher, I will find ways and use varied of instructional strategies
just to make my students understand, internalize, and can apply all the learning they have
acquired from my discussions.
SESSION 4
As a teacher, what are the indicators under beginning stage that you can do? Is it possible that you can move
to the higher career stage? Knowing where you are, what professional development goals could you prepare
based on your strength and areas for improvement?
Answer:
As a teacher, the indicators under beginning stage that I can do are those indicators which are;
Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of differentiated teaching to suit the learner’s gender, needs,
strengths, interests and experiences. Implement teaching strategies that are responsive to the learner’s
linguistic, cultural, socio-economic and religious backgrounds. Use strategic responsive to learners with
disabilities, giftedness and talents. Having these indicators there is a positive possible outcome that I can move
to the higher career stage. Meanly because, the courage and inspiration that I have will lead and drive me going
to destination which I belong.

As member of the DepEd learning community, I commit myself to help realize the DepEd mission and
vision. I promise to do my duties and responsibilities of being an agent of change and a developer of
competencies and skills of the individuals. As a teacher and aiming to be the great and effective teacher, I
promise that I am one of the reasons in producing a more competitive nation in all generations.

“CODE OF ETHICS”

Situation no. 1
Being a person known for his integrity and credibility, Mr. Elbert R. Tolentino has been serving as
part of the Board of Election Canvassers for the past 10 years. However, in the coming elections, his
mother will be running as barangay captain. Because of this, he is asked to campaign for her. Is it
alright for him to campaign for his mother’s candidacy? Explain your answer.
Answer:
No, it is not alright for him to campaign for his mother’s candidacy meanly because
there will be conflict of interest may happen in this situation.
Situation no. 2
Mr. Mario Ocampo, who has been teaching for the last 25 years, refused to attend an important
conference in Mindanao. Every time he is asked by the principal to attend such an activity, he always
requests a new teacher to attend. As a professional teacher, is it right to express refusal in attending
conferences.
Answer:

Situation no. 3
Ms. Rose Q. Reyes posted two-piece swimwear picture of herself in her Facebook page. She received
negative comments from the community and stakeholders. Ms. Reyes justified that she has the right
to post anything on her Facebook account since it was her personal account. Is it right for Mrs. Reyes
to do such?
Situation no. 4
During barangay fiesta, Mr. Ben Y. Maya was designated as the fiesta directorate chairman. Because
of his talent, he accepted the task willingly even without any honorarium. He facilitated culture-based
activities that made their barangay fiesta a significant one. Is it alright for Mr. Maya not to receive
any compensation for his services rendered since this will be a precedent for the succeeding activity
coordinator?

Mrs. Dae P. Habalo, of Sibulan National High School refused to admit a student for not being a
resident of the said barangay where the school is located. Is it right for her to do so?

Traditionally, a civic parade is held with school participating during Independence Day. All teachers and students are
required to attend. All of Mrs. Katherine Y. Sedillo’s students are excited to join the said parade but she did not join them
due to personal reason and only asked the president of the class to check the attendants of his classmates. Is the decision
of Mrs. Sedillo not answerable for any untoward incident to happen to the students?

activities and assessment. What insights have you learned from them?
