INTRODUCTION

In this project report, I will be talking about various processes and procedures used by me in
doing the sales promotion of the company’s moile application in which I was appointed as an
intern. I would also like to talk about the various responses that I got during the whole month
of my internship. I also will share the amount of the I devoted in doing my internship for the
duration of 30 days. I would also like to tell that I got my internship arranged by myself from
Internshala.
My job was to contact and get in touch with as many people as possible through social media
or through personally calling and telling them about the Mobile application and the services
that they are going to get by using the same. It was a work from home internship that I had
arranged by myself and it had flexible working hours but I had to devote at least 3 to 4 hours
of my day to perform the required work in order to promote the application and getting the
certificate for my performance in the internship. At start of internship I was told that the
certificate and the stipend,it would be given on the basis of the performance of the individuals
and how much of the work they have put in. We were also told that the interns that would
perform exceptionally would also be getting a certificate or a letter of appreciation from the
directors of the company and if their performance is well enough we would also be getting a
recommendation on our respective LinkedIn profiles. I was also told that I have to maintain a
well developed LinkedIn profile as one of the CEO’s of the company will be giving a
recommendation on our Respective profiles.
The basic target customers were those who are primarily doing a job or don’t have enough time
to go out and buy daily necessity goods that are used almost day-to-day in a regular household
wherever we go. As we all know that Times are changing at the fast pace and we as consumers
need to catch up with the latest technologies and That are coming to the market for these kind
of services. Most other people nowadays prefer buying vegetables, fruits, milk Products,
Products for babies and also various other luxury items online through an e-commerce website
or Application rather than going out in the market and buyin those goods personally. Due to
this the company launched a Application catering to the needs all these kinds of consumer
segment who prefer buying online. The company, till now, only provide services in Greater
Noida and Noida region so I had to contact and promote the company’s application to more
and more people of that particular region so that the potential customers could be converted
into guaranteed sales and increase my chances of getting the letter of appreciation.
I had to make many calls on a daily basis and contact people through any medium so that I can
promote the company’s objective and make people familiar with the concept of buying of
- 10 -
goods and services of daily necessity items from a trusted E-commerce website. The most
difficult part was to convince the potential consumers to download the application and order
something from it as there are many other available options in the wide market which offer the
same kind of services and goods and people almost everytime prefer them. It is a natural
consumer behaviour that the people will prefer those items that have been in the market for a
long time because they have gained the trust of those consumer segment by providing genuine
services and goods, rather than changing their preference towards a new brand that has just
now entered in to the market and very less market coverage. As the company for which I was
interning was only recently launched, most of the people in the market did not even knew about
its existence, so I had to talk to them a lot and convince them of the trust of the company. There
are many rivals in the market area in which the company was launching, so the first response
that I would get from the contacts was ‘why would I buy from here when I have a better well
established and genuine E-Commerce alternative’. This was a tough task for me to convince
them and I had to do it as I wanted a letter of appreciation for me.
The main target segment for the consumers for me were those people who a reliant on these
services as they don’t have enough time to do the purchasing of the daily necessity goods. The
main target for me was the people from NOIDA and GREATER NOIDA as the reach of
distribution of the company was only limited to these 2 place only as it is a startup and it takes
some amount of time to get yourself established in the market. It will be really difficult for the
company to establish MorningBag effectively and efficiently as there are many competitors
providing similar services and these competitors have a better outreach to customers than our
service, plus, they also have an advantage that these rival companies have been in the market
for a longer period of time.
Morningbag is one of the leading North India grocery E-commerce shopping website currently
serving in Noida and Greater Noida only. They plan to move further out into the market area
with time starting from Ghaziabad sector Gurugram Sector and to various other Districts. With
more than 6000 branded products and services, including fresh fruits and vegetables, baby care
items, cold drinks and other beverages like juices, milk and dairy products, beauty essential
products are also offered, plus, household items and kitchen appliances listed on the platform.
The company strives to delight its customers by becoming a one-stop solution for all the daily
needs.
MorningBag is one of the pioneers who aims to provide hassle-free guaranteed delivery within
2-hour and at below MRP prices. With products readily available at best prices and lightning
fast delivery, we want our customers to save more by shopping more and relish the convenience
by sitting back at their home.
MorningBag also ensures that its customers get the best price on popular products and hence
we keep on giving exclusive coupons & deals on various branded products with an option to
schedule delivery date & timing as per your comfort.
This application is basically a subsidiary company of the Main company, PaperByte Pvt. Ltd.,
the main company holds many types of businesses one of it being MorningBag as a subsidiary
service.

ABOUT PAPERBYTE:
PaperByte is the main company which launched the subsidiary MorningBag in which I
interned. The main company provides various kinds of services ranging from Information
Technology to computer security network, Enterprise Application software, Web and Mobile
applications, E-commerce, Human Resource solutions, Sales executive tracking tools,
Customer relationship management.
PaperByte is not just a company, it's a dream trip that fulfills all the dreams that are still dreams.
The company knows how IT helps every dream achieve its status. The company started this
journey with India, where people have ideas and dreams, but not the platform to change that
dream with the latest technology in reality. It's not that there is no platform, there are many
platforms, but either they are very expensive or they have no way to give an idea to the real
form, but this is not just the problem of India, it's a global problem. The company in its 7 year
of experience has come to know that it is really difficult to give any single idea a real form in
the real world.
That was one of the reasons why the company was committed in giving life to dreams with
very low finance and a shortage of time. For doing this the company has also sought
suggestions from various successful entrepreneurs and various other experts on their
experience in various fields. The company also sought to analyse case studies of multiple start-
ups, after going through a very thorough research, the company has started various businesses
in which they are succeeding. More than 4 start-ups have been launched since the company has
come into existence and that too in a very short period of time. The vision statement of the
company says that – ‘The chariot of our success will continue until the dreams of the
humans are behind us’.

THE COMPANY AND ITS PRODUCTS LINE:
The Company offers various of services and products. It is basically a hub for various kinds of
services and products that are required by businesses in the market. Some of the services
offered by PaperByte Private Limited are as follows:
E-Commerce:-
Nowadays physical stores carry a large amount of cost with them such as the rent of
the building or the accommodation from where you are conducting your business and
there are also the cost like the decoration expenses that have to be considered while
starting up a business in a particular place. E-commerce has successfully tackled these
questions as none of these expenses need to be beared by the entrepreneurs as they had
to when they were operating from a store. There was also a disadvantage of limited
customer access to the business and as a result the sales were getting affected. The
major difficulty faced by a business individual is to how to reach each and every
customer in each area effectively. Here the E-Commerce players have an advantage.
To tackle this for small businesses the company had developed a technology called the
MEAN-Stack technology which is somewhat same as the big players or could be
advance from existing players. Some of the featured services offered by the company
in the E-Commerce segment are:-
1. Content Management capabilities
2. Cutting edge technology
3. Email marketing integration
4. Facebook messenger bot
5. Multi sellers registration
6. Multiple payment options
7. Reporting tools
8. Responsive design
9. Robust admin panel
10. Shipment tracking
- 16 -
3. Learning management
4. Payroll management
5. Performance Evaluation
6. Recruiting and application tracking
The company under which I interned was MorningBag, provided E-commerce services and
selling of grocery and daily use items. PaperByte’s first product is E-Commerce under which
there comes MorningBag.
BIG BASKET:- This is one of the main direct competitor for MorningBag as this
also provides almost or purely the same services that we offer. The main advantage that
big basket has is that it has been in the market for a longer period of time that
MorningBag so it has the support and trust of the consumer segments who prefer buying
grocery items online.
BigBasket is an Indian online supermarket that enables users to shop for groceries and
consumer products.Bigbasket's headquarters is located in Bangalore, Karnataka.
- 17 -
Bigbasket generates $79.1K in revenue per employee Alibaba Group, CDC Group, and
Mirae Asset.Global investment are some of Bigbasket's investors. Bigbasket's top
competitor is Grofers, led by Albinder Dhindsa, who is their Co-Founder & CEO.
Bigbasket has 12,084 followers on Owler.
GROFERS:- This is the second biggest competitor for MorningBag as this is the
same as both Big Basket and Grofers. It is India's largest low-cost food online
supermarket. The Company uses its proprietary technology platform to manage a
network of over 5,000 partner businesses, enabling it to run a fast and lean supply chain
- from manufacturer to customer in 16 cities, including Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata,
Chennai, Bangalore, Hyderabad , Pune, Gurgaon, Noida, Ahmadabad, Jaipur, Lakhnau,
Kanpur, Rohtak, Bhiwadi and Meerut. Grofers uses its efficient supply chain to deliver
more than 25 million products to customers each month.
There are many more other competitors out there in the Market that Paperbyte will have
to consider while operating there E-commerce application MorningBag. Some of them
are listed below:-
Satva Cart
Anandha Grocery
- 18 -
Here we can see the various competitors and also the models adopted by them while
conducting there business. Some of the company’s keep their inventory and some work based
on a marketplace model. As we can see that most of the market is covered by big basket and
grofers and least by nandus chicken and brown apron etc.

RESEARCH
METHODOLOGY
- 20 -
Research is defined as a careful consideration of study regarding a particular concern or a
problem using scientific methods. According to the American sociologist Earl Robert Babbie,
“Research is a systematic inquiry to describe, explain, predict and control the observed
phenomenon. Research involves inductive and deductive methods.”
CHARACTERISTICS OF RESEARCH:-
This was the type of research used by me to reach out to the consumers. Daily target was around
5-10 people and focus was on talking or approaching to as many people as possible.
This was one of the method used as I have to explore the consumers in the market so that I can
approach them and influence them to use the application on their respective mobile phones. I
had to approach those individuals who have not been talked to before. Consumer satisfaction
is also an objective of exploratory research and this was really helping as i was getting to know
about the level of consumer satisfaction and behaviour.
- 21 -
This graph represents the payment gateway or the percentage of preferred payment modes
that the consumers tap to when the use any of the Grocery E-Commerce websites or
applications. Mainly people use cash on delivery as, still people are hesitant in using online
modes of payment and still some people in India do not have a Bank Account.

ANALYSIS
- 23 -
S.W.O.T. ANALYSIS
Below I have the done the SWOT Analysis of the company in which I worked as an intern
according to my obsevations and knowledge that I acquired while working. I believe that the
company will face a tough competition in its initial stages as the company is new and is yet to
gain the trust of the competitors. There are also many opportunities as well in the market that
the company can work upon to succeed. Threats are considerably more than the weaknesses
but the latter prevail too.
STRENGHTS:- The main strengths that I believe that exist in the company were the wide
range of products that they offer and the various discounts they release. They are currently
only focusing on the specialization of their brand in only 2 regions that is Noida and Greater
Noida plus little bit of Ghaziabad. This strategy may be beneficial for them as it will not
cause and big losses as the coverage area is low and first they are trying to capture it.
WEAKNESSES:- The main weakness which I could figure out was the non-availability of
sufficient employees in the company to efficiently run the business with a view of expansion.
They were mainly hiring interns for only a specific period of time and then leaving them after
the specified period is completed. Plus they are not able to advertise their application
effectively. If they fall behind in this then their orders will fall short and will incur losses.
THREATS:- The main threat that the company faces is by their competitors like Big Basket
and Grofers and other small Businesses in the market. It can face stiff competition in terms of
market coverage, price differentiation.
- 24 -
A research design is simply the framework or plan for a study that serves as a guide to
collecting and analyzing the data. It is a blueprint after which a study is completed. "Research
design is the plan structure and the investigation strategy designed to answer the research
question and control the variance."
Since, the company in which I was interning is an E-Commerce related company, the main
methods which I adopted in reaching out to the public consumers and collecting data were:-
Facebook Marketing:-
a) This was one of the methods that I used to gain more and more customers for
MorningBag. As I have many friends on my facebook, it helped me to reach the
maximum amount of public in every region. I had to sent invite to each and
every one of my friends and family contacts and also explain to them the
benefits of using the services offered by the company and also to explain them
the benefits of buying the products as we offer heavy discounts on many items.
b) The responses were pretty hard to get as the people were hesitant in buying
goods of daily use from a newly launched web application and were rather
preffering established ones like big basket and grofers.
- 25 -
many people as possible and promote the downloads and reviews of the
application on Android, iOS and other devices.
b) I had to convert the conversations to as many downloads as possible and to do
that it took a lot of convincing marketing and specially with the people in the
region of Noida and Greater Noida as there I had to make sales too.
The research was done on a primary basis and all the data was collected by myself. I
also had to maintain an excel sheet on a daily basis and update it with the names of the
people downloading and reviewing the app on their respective devices and to also
update their phone numbers alongside their names.
These excel sheet were the basis upon which the stipend were to be decided and the
internship certificate and letter of recommendation too. I also had to fill an intern info
excel sheet at the end of my internship and send it to the Accounts department of
MorningBag so that my info gets saved with them and my stipend gets processed as
early as possible.
My way of conducting the research was well appreciated by my seniors and my mentor.
Mr. Kiran Pal Singh continuously guided me throughout the duration of my internship
and congratulated me for my performance and also gave me a letter of appreciation
which I have attached above.
I also got a stipend of Rupees 1250 for the work that I had done during these 30 days
of internship. I had to research about how to target the initial public and then how to
move forward. First I had to start with the close friends and family individuals then
move towards new contacts.
To get hold of new contacts I had to do extensive outreach. For example, as many new
people I met, I put forward my offer of the MorningBag append influenced them to
download it. Even in the gym, where I go, I made people aware of the app and made
people download it. Also the review mattered the most so I focused on getting the
review on telephone as well as on the application store too.
Most of the reviews that I got were not good or were only satisfactory as the brand is
not well established and not so popular as are the main competitors. As we all can say
big basket is a more well established brand and grofers too.
- 26 -
Most of the time people did not order from morning bag app as they already trust these
known brands and order from their regularly. So to convince them was a really tough
task. I had to do primary data collection as I was the one making the excel sheets and
no secondary data was involved.
- 27 -
Graphical representation of number of downloads
and reviews per week
Y – Axis-Number of downloads
X – Axis-Week number
As you can see that I was able to get this many downloads and reviews per week as I have
shown in the graph.
The first 3 weeks were really good for me as I was able to convert most of the people I
approached but the 4th week was not that good as only 30 people responded to my request of
reviews and downloads of the mobile application.
There were many occasions during my internship duration when people were hesitating in
giving me their details and mobile numbers as well. It took a lot of convincing for me. I had to
cut out many people from the list of people I maintained who downloaded the app, and that is
the main reason why I got left behind in my 4th week.
My work was well appreciated by the senior authority and Mr. Kiran Pal Singh also
congratulated me. I have attached the certificates of my internship at the start.
- 28 -
Chapter – V
FINDINGS, SUGGESTION
AND CONCLUSION
- 29 -
Below I will state some of the findings and suggestions that I would like to give or state out
and put forward as my point of view. During the course of my 30 days of internship I found
out various things about the company and also how does a company comes into existence and
operates and also some suggestions regarding the working of the company and some
improvements too.
Offering of special discounts and offers are really beneficial for such a company to
increase their sales. Discount offers and coupons benefits attract customers at a wide
perspective. People tend to move towards those products which attach with themselves
with offers of some kind. It is a basic consumer behaviour. So giving out discounts and
offers will really benefit the company in terms of sales and promotion.
It is really difficult to promote a new company. The main problem which I encountered
was to convince the people to at least try out the mobile application and order once.
The people in Noida region were hesitant In trying and ordering products as they were
already using big basket and grofers and many more well established grocery
companies. Most of the people were not using anything and they were buying the items
personally from the market. So it remained a difficult task for me to promote it.
I would like to suggest to the company to adopt extensive advertising practices and hire
more people as a workforce in the company. The huge drawback of the company was
low workforce. There were not enough people to make the management efficient.
Sometimes I was getting different information through different people and this was
very confusing for me.
Expanding in more regions is one of the main suggestions that I would like to give. Till
now they are only available in Noida, Greater Noida and Ghaziabad. I would suggest
them to expand to various other regions in order to cover more market area and increase
the order rates and popularity of the Company’s application and services.
There is a neck to neck competition between Morning Bag and Big Basket and Grofers.
Some other small brands also come into play but the market occupation is the highest
of Big Basket.
The quality of products and services offered by the company are satisfactory. They still
need to work upon the research and development of their Mobile Application
MorningBag and make the UI(user interface) better.
- 30 -
One more strategy I would suggest is to do social media marketing. Social media is one
of the major business platforms and is growing at a great speed nowadays. It would
prove beneficial for the company to regularly update about the products and services
offered and also to update about the discount offers and coupons that they release on
various social media platforms.
- 31 -
CONCLUSION:-
In general, today’s businesses must always strive to create the next best thing that consumers
will want because consumers continue to desire their products, services etc. to continuously
be better, faster, and cheaper. In this world of new technology, businesses need to
accommodate to the new types of consumer needs and trends because it will prove to be vital
to their business’ success and survival. E-commerce is continuously progressing and is
becoming more and more important to businesses as technology continues to advance and is
something that should be taken advantage of and implemented.
From the inception of the Internet and e-commerce, the possibilities have become endless for
both businesses and consumers. Creating more opportunities for profit and advancements for
businesses, while creating more options for consumers. However, just like anything else, e-
commerce has its disadvantages including consumer uncertainties, but nothing that can not be
resolved or avoided by good decision-making and business practices.
There are several factors and variables that need to be considered and decided upon when
starting an e-commerce business. Some of these include: types of e-commerce, marketing
strategies, and countless more. If the correct methods and practices are followed, a business
will prosper in an e-commerce setting with much success and profitability.
