    STATEMENT OF PURPOSE

    Mohammed Ali Mirza

    I am a person who was always enchanted by creativity and problems


    requiring critical thinking. By knowing the application of Information
    technology across various Industries and the kind of skills required to solve
    a critical problem, it was no doubt that it intrigued me to pursue my
    undergraduate Studies in “Information Technology Engineering”. With
    four years of my undergraduate studies, where I studied the fundamentals
    of computer programming and after extensively applying those principles
    practically during my four year career in Software Development, my
    curiosity to get an in-depth knowledge in Computer Science has increased
    manifold. I have, hence, decided to continue my journey in the field by
    enhancing my knowledge through a “Master’s Degree in Computer
    Science” provided by your University. I am quite confident after my strong
    fundamentals that I learned in my undergraduate combined with an
    extensive amount of experience that I gained by working in an IT sector,
    had given me a systematic and methodical approach required to excel in
    the Master Degree in Computer Science provided by Trinity College
    Dublin.

    My journey towards programming started after I completed my 12th


    Grade, when one of my relative, who is a Software Developer, taught me
    how to write basic programs in Java. The analytical skills required for
    writing a program fascinated me to such an extent that I finally decided to
    pursue my undergraduate Studies in Information Technology. During my
    four years of undergraduate, I was exposed to some of the cardinal
    concepts of Computer Science like Object Oriented Programming, Data
    Structures, Operating System, Computer Networks, Software Project
    management, Software testing, etc. Overall, I assume that my
    undergraduate understanding would benefit me to tackle challenges that I
    will face during my Graduate Studies.
    After completing my undergraduate studies, I began my career as a
    Software Engineer at Cazaayan Software Labs, an IT service provider,
    providing web and mobility solutions to different Industries. Here, I got a
    chance to work on an Android application for Bombay Stock Exchange,
    one of the fastest and largest Stock Exchange of Asia. After working on
    this project for more than a year, I finally started working at
    Mouthshut.com, a product based company responsible for providing
    genuine product reviews to consumers. It was here, I realize how “Data
    Science and Machine learning” could help in analyzing different kinds of
    data that came as a review from consumers. The analytical and statistical
    skills required in machine learning fascinated me to such an extent that I
    finally decided to get an in-depth knowledge in Data Science, one of the
    major reasons for pursuing my graduate studies. I believe that my practical
    experience has provided me with the discipline and capabilities required
    for pursuing a Master's Degree at TCD.

    I wish to earn an MS degree in Computer Science followed by an in-depth


    research in Data Science and Machine learning. I have communicated with
    my lecturers and colleagues about my choice of university and I have
    applied to a Master’s in Computer Science at TCD because of its reputable
    place of providing computing resources and research facilities required to
    excel in the Computer Science.

    I believe that my dedication to pursue my graduate studies, my projects


    and my strong academics in various areas of Computer Science will be
    helpful in pursuing my graduate studies. It would be a great honor for me if
    I will get an opportunity to learn under the guidance of one the eminent
    faculties of TCD. I trust the Admission Committee shares my excitement
    and gives me the admission. I expect being a part of the Fall 2018
    incoming class.
