Anna University, Bharathidasan Institute of Technology (BIT) Campus, Trichirappalli – 620 024 is
provides accommodation to students wishing to reside in the hostels. Hostel administration is an
independent unit in respect to its internal administration under the overall supervision of the Hostel
administration headed by the Warden followed by Executive Warden, Deputy Wardens (Boys and Girls
Hostels) and Residential Tutors. The Non – Teaching staffs and Steward in all matters relating to the
hostel were who actively take part in hostel day to day affairs.

There are three Boys hostels (One Building under construction) and 3 Girls hostels in BIT Campus
accommodating 2650 students approximately every year. Each hostel has a Hostel Committee which is
an advisory body comprising the warden of the Hostel and student secretaries as its members. The
hostel committee plans the students’ activities like sports, recreational and other social activities of the
students through the respective student secretaries. First year students are allowed to stay in separate
block to ensure that there is no ragging in hostel premises.

The Hostel Office is located within the hostel premises and managed by Executive Warden and
Deputy Warden’s of both hostels, Clerical staff members in matters related to the various activities of
the hostel. The office maintains all the files, registers, records, ledgers, account books, supplier’s bills,
payment registers and etc., pertaining to the hostel residents, mess as well as the employees. The hostel
office functions all the days.

Every student who has been admitted to the institute is required to pay the prescribed hostel
rent and establishment charges along with a refundable hostel mess caution deposit. These charges are
subject to revision from time to time.

Each hostels connected through Wi-Fi internet connectivity. RO water facility is installed in
hostels for drinking purpose. A number of recreational, sports and social activities like student nursery
garden take place in the hostel during the academic year. Students can relax in the evenings or on
holidays or spend their leisure time in the common room which is equipped with a T.V. in each hostel.
An external security agency is contracted for providing security at the hostels. The service of the security
personnel are monitored by the Warden.

The Hostel Secretary acts as the secretary of the Hostel council, ensures proper maintenance of
the hostel premises and coordinates the activities of the other secretaries. The Mess secretary works in
connection with the mess staff members towards planning of the menu and maintenance of hygiene in
the kitchen and the mess hall. The Garden Secretary maintains the garden in well and good. The
student President (Secretary) and his team is responsible for managing students amenities and other
facilities of Hostels.

The messes are run by the student committees with the support of Hostel Administration. The
mess bills are shared by the inmates in No loss No gain basis (Dividing system).

The HCA formulates the necessary rules and guidelines pertaining to Hostels and messes.
