I. Learning Objectives
During and at the end of the lesson the learners will/shall:
1. Process information mentioned in the text listened to (cognitive)
2. Infer thoughts, feelings and intentions in the material viewed (affective)
3. Present an interpretation of the poem through poster making (Psychomotor)

II. Lesson Topic: The Seven Ages of Man, Sound Devices in Poetry, Using
Capitalization

III. Procedures:
A. Daily Routines
Greetings
Prayer
Vison, Mission, and Philosophy Recital
Attendance
B. Motivation
(Day 1) Present a riddle game and then, group the students into five and let them
share their roles in life with their group and in front.
C. Discussion
(Day 1) Present the poem The Seven Ages of Man.
(Day 1) Group reading of the poem.
(Day 2) Play a short video about the poet, the poem and the setting.
(Day 2) Discussion of the poem using question techniques.
(Day 2) Discussion of sound devices in poetry.
(Day 3) Discussion of using capital letters.
D. Application
(Day 2) The teacher will give examples in each sound devices and then, the
students will give their examples and will identify the sound of each word.
E. Valuing
(Day 2) The teacher will let the students watch a video about The Seven Ages of
Man and then, they will share their thoughts and feelings about the materials
viewed.
F. Generalization
(Day 4)
1. The Seven Ages of Man is a poem written by William Shakespeare and is
about the stages or ages of a man from birth up to death. It is about the life
cycle of man.
2. Sound devices are used by the poets to give colors to their poem. There are
different sound devices such as onomatopoeia, alliteration, assonance, and
consonance.
3. Appropriate use of capital letters is important and we have 31 rules in using
capital letters.

IV. Assessment (Transfer Goal)


(Day 4) Making a poster on how they understand the poem, “The Seven Ages of
Man.”

V. Enrichment/Homework
Homework 1: Give at least five examples each on the different sound devices in
poetry.
Homework 2: In your Eloquence 9 book, answer the Grammar Worksheets on page
28.
