STATEMENT OF INFORMED BELIEFS 2
While most little girls where dreaming about being princess, and ballerinas, I was
dreaming of being a teacher. Whenever we played school I of course wanted to play the
teacher. My whole family is teachers, from my grandma to my great uncle, and aunts. Its
in my blood. Teachers aren’t created they are born. We are just simply super heroes in
disguise.
Method of Reflection
As I spend quite some time in the classroom I have come to learn most classroom types
inside and out. I believe in believing in all the children that walk into your classroom no
matter what background, or race. If I have one goal in my whole teaching career it is to
make a difference in at least one child’s life, at that point I will be satisfied for the rest of
my life. For all the other children who I make an impact on they are simply bonuses in

was growing up I was told it was a “stupid” idea to become a teacher because we don’t
get paid well. Obviously, teachers aren’t in it for the money, we are simply here to
change the lives of all the children who walk through our classroom doors.
break down their walls and allow you in so that you can help them learn, and feel safe all
at the same time. Teaching is not just black, and white, its not always warm, and fuzzy.
You are going to have the kids who tests your patience, and don’t want to learn. These

Teaching is not just for anyone. The things I have seen since I have started to
substitute teach is unbelievable, but I still can’t see myself do any other career in my life.
These children who walk thru the door at the beginning of the year will tug at your heart
strings, and will make you cry tears of sorrow, and joy, and become emotional and
physically exhausted.
Being a teacher, you spend more time with these kids than they do with most of
their parents. They rely on you to guide them. You will want to kick, and scream, and
sometimes pull your hair out. You then realize this is all part of the thing you love most
teaching, you are creating these kid’s success stories, creating memories for them to carry
on with them forever. The kids who drove you the craziest will make you cry the biggest
All children are challenges in a good way. No matter if you teach for 3 years or 50
years you will never get a child that walks into your classroom that talks, dresses, acts,
and learns the same as any of your previous students. This means you are constantly
With there being so many different ways of learning, you have to learn how to
tweak lessons, and activities you need to make sure all your kids are interested. This is

After I had accessed what I was walking into I knew I had to try to do something
about it. I made my own rule about bullying. The rule goes something like this: if a
student says a negative thing about another student they must then apologize and in turn
say three nice things about said person. At first the kids look me like I’m kidding and
when I really make them do it, they learn it’s a lot harder to bring someone back up than
Small classrooms are where children break out of their shells, where they learn
the best, and create the most beautiful memories. We talk about children not being
engaged in learning as much. We need to build an environment where they love coming
to everyday to learn, to grow, and make memories. Small classrooms give children more
room to answer questions without feeling judged, they cant hide behind their classmates,
In my future classroom, I can’t plan how many students I will get but I will make
the best of what I am handed. My children will love coming to class, they will crave to
learn. They will grow right in front of my eyes, and before I know it they will be off to
The quote “not all hero’s wear capes” came to mind when I created this belief.
We take in other people’s children for 9 months out of the year, treat them like our own,
and protect them with all our might. Teaching isn’t really something you can explain, or
even instill into someone. Teachers are just simply born, like super heroes. Teachers
don’t get the credit where credit is due. We get criticized and critique by anyone and
everyone, but we go on with our day knowing that we are doing our best to instill the best
Conclusion
In conclusion being a teacher will be the absolute biggest joy of your life. Also, at
the same time the absolute craziest decision you possibly ever made. You get to create
these memories with these kids that will go on with them forever. As I grow in this career
I just know that if I can influence at least one child that my job will be done, and I can
say I reach my goal. Teachers absolutely don’t get the credit they need. Teachers are like
a silent parent, they love, and take care of other people’s children every year. They get to
watch these kids grow from pre-k to walking across that stage at graduation. Teachers are
