V-Groove Recommendation
New V-Groove Recommendation
• Note: there is existing Airbus ALI inspection every 10800 FC if inspection
doesn’t reveal any crack (MPD task 722301-01-1)
• However, CFM & UTAS now requesting additional inspections to gain experience
on V-Groove behavior when approaching DSG
− Repetitive inspections at Engine Shop Visit
– starting at 15 000 EFC
– Average interval 2500-3500 FC
− Same procedure as ALI inspection
− Introduced by CFM SB 78-0106 Cat 3C to be issued September 2018

No more V-Groove replacement required at 20 000 FC

Inspection of the Fan Case V-Groove Inner Radius

• Actuator fitting area


• Means :
1) Visual inspection of the left and right Outer Flange
2) Ultrasonic on Inner & External faces
3) Eddy Current on Inner radius (seal removed)
• If any crack :
− Replace the part
• Inform CFM & UTAS of the inspection results
