HICE – MCS

1. HICE – MCS / Basic Concept


HICE has developed a concept for cable transport, storage, installation and
maintenance & repair in a growing subsea cable market relating to any subsea
power cable application up to 300t. product weight.

The core of the concept is to minimize handling of the cable from source (cable
manufacturer) to application (offshore installation). The main purpose of the
concept is minimising any risk to the cable by only handling the cable when
neccessary. Cable will be stored in an ‘assigned‘ basket, compatible with the
MCS-components throughout the various stages between production and final
installation.

The starting point for the concept is the best way to handle a subsea power
cable is to store it in a rotating basket and dismissing static coils, vertical reels
and other methods that are a compromise and will always pose a risk to
powercables

The MCS consists of small equipment-modules which can be easily transported


in standard offshore container‘s and assembled on site.

Cable can easily be transported to required location. It is not neccessary the


cable installation vessel loads the cable at the manufacturer or storage location,
the cable comes to the installation vessel
