Lessons within Journeys

Directions: In this assignment, you and partner will explore central lessons the author is trying to teach us within the
Epic of Gilgamesh! First, you and your partner will re-watch the Ted-Ed video and label each element of the hero’s
journey on a storyboard organizer. Then, together you will be exploring sections #1-9 of the hero's pattern using the
Epic of Gilgamesh. You and your partner will discuss possible central ideas in each section of the plot and illustrate
the discovered central idea into a storyboard graphic organizer. Also, you will need a quote/or dialogue from any
character that helps Ms. Chavez and others visualize the moment being displayed. Besides this, you will write a 3-4
sentence rationale of your modeled central idea/ lesson. Please make sure to use the central ideas/lessons we have
brainstormed from the text (beginning of class). Lastly, once you reach the end of your storyboard, your team must
choose one of your discovered lessons and write a 5-7 sentence paragraph discussing it. In your paragraph, you will
name the text, describe two moments your lesson can be seen, and why your team believes the author conveys this
central idea/lesson.
