WORKING: A BRIEF ON THE TECHNOLOGY OF COMPOSTING

Our fully automatic composting machine is a wonderful incubator for microorganisms that actually
feed on the organic matter and convert it into compost. Critical factors like temperature, moisture
and oxygen are optimised for the bacteria to thrive and thus compost the organic/ food waste at a
very fast pace.
When Food Waste is put into the machine, moisture is sensed from below & the tank is heated, if
required. Excess moisture is converted to water vapour. Thus moisture &heat is regulated.
The periodic intermittent rotation of the mixing blades ensures that the entire content is given the
right amount of oxygen to ensure fully aerobic digestion.
The microbes are thus activated & they decompose the food.
There is no crushing or grinding & it is 100% natural process. The blades are only for mixing.
The decomposition is done by our special thermophilic microorganisms which thrive in high
temperature & high acidic or salty atmosphere as well.
The addition of compost to the gardens completes the ecological loop and satisfies the environment
requirement of three Rs Reduce, Reuse and Recycle.

PROCESS DETAILS
COMPOSTING MICRO-ORGANISM BASED NATURAL COMPOSTING
METHOD
Treatable items Vegetables, Fish, Bread, curry, roti, meat, animal bones, garden
waste & other compostable organic biomass.
Untreatable items Metal waste, plastic, glass, big bones, large shells, petrochemicals,
stones
Processing time Most organic items are composted in 24 48 hours
Removal of compost Required once in a fortnight. Though compost is formed in 24
48 hours, such prolonged processing helps in maturing
Use of Output Can be used in Gardens directly, after mixing with soil in 1:10
ratio; Should be matured if used in farms for food
Leach ate/ water None
Discharge
Gas discharge No harmful discharge; Only Carbon Dioxide and water vapour
Caution
1. Hard materials like coconut shells, large animal bones, metal and stones should not be put in, since
it can damage the blades
2. Ensure that the compost is taken out, once it reaches the red level inside the machine. Else, the
compost might enter the motor assembly and spoil the motor.
3. Very sharp and hard objects should not be put in, (say a large screwdriver), that could damage the
tank and the oil inside.
4. The machine has been designed and optimised for the mentioned capacity of wet waste per day.
Lesser quantity than that mentioned will help in getting out more matured compost. But larger
quantity could overload the machine and result in damage of the heater and compromise on the
quality of compost.
5. If only garden waste is put in for composting, care should be taken to ensure the right amount of
water should be put in additionally, depending on the dryness of the leaves. The composting
material should be as moist as a well wrung wet sponge not dripping wet, but moist. This is not
the case with food waste that has water content naturally.
6. Composting of pure garden waste would take more time than food waste and would depend on the
carbon/ nitrogen ratio. Typically, it would be around 3 6days additionally. Hence please factor a
buffer of around 20% in terms of volume also.
7. Garden waste could be additionally shredded for faster results. Large stems , barks etc should be
compulsorily shredded before we put the same inside our composter
8. Compost can be mixed with soil in the ratio of 1: 10, before adding the same as manure in the
gardens. If used for agricultural / vegetable farms, it requires to be more matured and might require
additional nutrients like rock potash etc. for a better NPK ratio.

percentage of input would be garden waste, it is advisable to go in for a shredder, which can be
supplied additionally. Cost would depend on capacity/ model and range from Rs. 30,000 to 1,
50,000.
Other equipments and accessories that could be required can also be additionally supplied. These
include shovels, bins for storing other wastes, rakes, crates, etc.
