Steam Turbines for

REHEAT CYCLE
The growing international demand for power and the dynamic
market environment require more sophisticated solutions for
power producers.
Reheat turbine technology, originally used for large fossil-fueled
electric power plant applications, is a valid approach for new mar-
ket needs for higher efficiency power generation.
Recent technology advances allow the use of reheat steam tur-
bines in both medium and large size combined cycle plants. Based
on the extensive GE power generation experience GE Oil & Gas
has engineered a steam turbine design optimized for reheat appli-
cations.

Turbines have been developed to match GE
FA-class combined cycle applications with
565C (1050F) intermediate full reheat and
can be tailored to many different Combined
Cycle, Cogeneration and Waste-to-Energy
plant configurations. The maximum power
delivered by the steam turbine is about 100
MW over 50 and 60Hz grid frequency appli-
cations.
SR500 and SR600 Reheat Steam Turbines are
designed with a single casing configuration

that yields substantial savings in equipment A
cost, erection and maintenance. The casing High Pressure Casing Details

use of a separate steam chest and by high Pressure Temperature

the following features:
a) Central admission and back-to-back flow

b) Full arc of admission in the high pressure

The high pressure and hot reheat controls and trip valves are separate from the main
casing and are easily accessible for maintenance. Their design and construction is based
on standard and well proven components. Axial exhaust, with the condenser located at
the same level as the turbine, benefits the initial investment by reducing the height of the
turbo generator housing. Almost all the pipes run under the floor. This particular lay-out
allows ease of inspection and simple and convenient access for the maintenance of all key
components.
All manufacturing processes are carried out under the GE Oil & Gas Quality System that
integrates the GE Six Sigma Quality Program with ISO 9001 Quality Standards to guar-
antee equipment reliability and customer satisfaction.
